12/21/2014 8:00 AM 3.82 M M M M We live alongside the Luckiamute river, a tributary of the Willamette. It is about 50 feet across here in a small gorge. It has risen about 15 feet in the past 24 hours. My rain reading was on time, but my report is delayed by my inspection of the property. The stairs down to our river deck are ok, but the deck, which while not washed away, is broken and askew. The stairs from the deck to the summer lever is here only because we have a steel cable holding it to an oak tree. The rain has stopped but the river seems not to have crested as run off from higher elevation continues. A tree directly across the river has fallen about half way and its branches are now intertwined with the tree in front of our damaged deck. The river will have to rise another 10 or 15 feet to reach our road, as it did in 2012. This is 5.6 inches of rain in 48 hours!
