After talking with a friend later in the day I'm told that 6 miles east of my station it rained about 2:30am for aproximately 15 minutes and rather heavily, not a light shower.

between 9:45pm and 9:50pm the wind shifted and picked up speed. At 9:59pm felt the first rain drop and ten minutes later I had water running off the roof. Not a heavy rain but steady. Lightening and thunder accompanied all the above. All my rain barrels are full and that with the last rain topped off our 2,800 gallons of storage. If I remember right the rain was still coming down lightly at 11pm when I went to bed. |

Oh happy day! Rain at last! Things were damp at 3am and the started again gently about 3:30am and by 4am was raining with gusto by 4am. Not a down poor but a business like rain. pudddles in theyard and the rain barrels filling up and gutters running. It's 7am and still raining and the radar makes it look like it keep it up for a couple of more hours and joy of joys the watreshed is getting a good soaking too.
A short note: about 6pm yesterday there was a very short and light sprinkle here. I heard it on the tin roof of my work shop but it wasn't enough to leave much evidence on the ground. |

Awoke at 4am to Strum und Drang, quite the light show but seriously deficent in precipitation. Things looked damp but not wet. Later at 5:30 when I got up it was still mostly show with a little sprinkle of rain going on and two hundreths in the gauge. At 6:30am the sprinkle picked up to a reseptable drizzle but died out just before 7am. At the moment it's back to light sprinkle, Things are damp and there are small puddles on solid surfaces. and the gutters on our street have a small trickle going to the storm drains. Forecast says more could happen but radar says most of it is north of this station and headed away to the northeast. Unless something boils up to our southwest I think it's shot its wad as far as this station and the watershed is concerned. Lots of folks are getting seriously drenched not far away from the look of the radar just not much where we need it most as far as I can tell. |

It started with lightning and thunder and suprizingly little rain around 3:30am yesterday morning. It kept up that way until about 12:30pm when the sky opened up and it poured rain. Hard enough that it was difficult to make out the house across the street, about thirty yards away. It kept that up for at least a half hour and then slacked a little but still came down pretty hard until around 2pm or so when it slowed to a sprinkle and pretty well stopped altogether about 5pm. |

At 6AM today when I got up there was no visible evidence of precipitation in the range of the back porch light as I let most of the dogs out. 10 minutes later when I put one of the dogs in his pen I could hear the patter of something precipitating of the pens canvas roof but couldn't feel it or see anything falling. 10 minutes later out in the tin workshop it started to pitter patter on the roof and it turned of to be ice pellets, Might call it sleet. By 7AM it was sticking to elevated surfaces to an estimated depth of an 1/8 inch or so. What had accumulated in the top of the gauge melted out to 2 hundreths of an inch. At the time the road out front was wet and there was some water running in the gutter. Right now ,7:59 it is coming down thicker. |

Good rain. yesterday it sprinkled almost all day and about 6:30 it started to rain a bit harder and continued till after 10:30, don't know when it quit. The rain later that evening baecame harder and at 10:30 was coming down with enthusiasm but up to down pour level. I could hear thunder in the distance at 10PM. Not long after 11PM came lighting and thunder and rain hard enough to hear from my bed. had first light sprinkle at 3:30PM yesterday, isolated drops widely scattered. At 4:46 it worked up to a denser sprinkle until it became a light drizzle. At about 8PM it worked up to a steady moderaste rain and water began to pool and run in our backyard. I had 0.08 inches of water in the gauge at 6:30PM and the rest came over the rest of the night. I was up at 2:45am and there was no rain at that time although the sky was still cloudy and the wind gusty. Same conditions at 5:30AM.

According to my wife it started to sprinkle shortly after I left for work at 7:45AM yesterday. This condition continued till about 10:30 when it began to rain with vigor and lasted about a half hour or so and returned to sprinkles afterwards. I was four miles east of this station where the rain started later and was still coming down strongly when i left work for lunch at noon. In the four miles home I drove out of the heavey rain and into a no rain situation at home four miles west of work. with an occasional sprinkle that afternoon we had 0.73 inches by night fall. When i got up at 5:30AM there was a sprinkle of fairly large d=rain drops that stopped within 15 minutes or so. we gained another .01 inches in the gauge over the night time. It looks like the water shed got a good soaking and the combined total in our lakes gained a percintage point or two and they now stand at 22% capacity. |

Lots of strum und drang last night. Rain started lightly at 7PM followed shortly at 7:12 with about five minuutes of Pea sized hail, not a lot but it was there. Rained harder but not torential and stopped for the most part by 7:30PM back to lght Drizzle. All that was accompanied by strong winds and gusts, treess swaying with vigor. Activity picked up at about 8:20 and rained moderatley with windy conditions until about 9:12 when there was once again high winds and strong gusts with hard rain coming down. Kept that up through 11PM when I was getting all the dogs in and out before bedding everybody down and it was still raining close to midnight. All this accompanied with thunder and lightening. Windy at the moment and no rain but more of the same in the forecast. Looks like the watershed got as much as 6 inches over most of that area. We had water running in the yard and gutters in the street and from past experince I can say there was floodin in some areas of town as the rain coming down exceeded the drainage systems ability to deal with the run off. This flooding clears up within an hour of the rain stopping. |

Roughly speaking at about 4PM yesterday I got a call from wife to bring home some sandbags to ward off the flooding back yard and keep it from coming in the back door. She held it off with a barrier of towels and rugs. The water was at least ankle deep on the porch. We got almost two inches of rain in about an hour and a half. Streets were closed due to flooding and some cars were stalled by high water. The rain was over by the time I got home at 5:20PM. I had to use our portable sump pump to put all that water out of our back porch drain and subsequently the standing water in the backyard. Quite an event. Forecast says more of the same today and tomorrow. |

Shortly after getting home from work around 5:20 the sky opened up and it rained pretty hard and the tapered off to a persistent drizzle increasing slightly from time to time. Large hail and a tornado in nearby counties. It calmed down locally before bedtime. At 6:20 this morning it started to rain again with thunder and lightening. I got drenched reading the gauge. Good deal of street flooding in town and the creeks were full to overflowing. Lake Wichita has been filled to the point of running over it's spill way. That's not saying much as it average depth is maybe six feet. Our lakes, Arrowhead, Kemp, and Kickapoo are slowly filling up but at last check were still less than half full when added together. |

At about 3:30PM yester day afternoon I noticed it pouring rain were I work 4 miles east of my station. My wife at home tells that it started at this staion some time between 2:30 and 3PM. Note that my window is behind my desk and don't recall hearing thunder at work but my wife reports rolling thunder about 3:30 to 4PM. By 4:30 the rain at work had stopped pretty much and I left work at 6PM the rain had stopped with a few desultory drops still coming down. I stopped to get some pvc pipe inorder to enhance my sump pumping and got home at 7PM with another round of rain fast approaching. So I had enough enough time to feed the dogs and assymble the pipe (60 feet of it) and get that all set up as the rain started again. this second round of rain wasn't as hard as the earlier rain. It was still sprinkling lightly when I came in the house at 11PM. It was sprinkling lightly when I got up at 5AM. And stopped about 6AM just before I read the gauge. Now it's 6:30 and I have to get ready to go to work. Radar looks like we may get another round of rain coming but it doesn't look to exstensive at the moment. |

Rain started about 10AM at my work place four miles east of this station as TS Bill passed by yesterday. From then till late that evening it rained in a gentle manner at this station. Radar indicated it was coming down in buckets on the east side of town and in the counties to the east of us. |

Sometime shortly after 9AM yesterday it rained at this station. It was over by 9:45 at the latest. I was 6 miles east of here when it started and on the drive home I went through three localized showers. So the rain came in localized showers that moved through the area it appears.

About 7:30 or so the rain started out pretty heavy but not a down pour. That went on for perhaps 5 minutes or so and then settled down to a steady drizzle/sprinkle. This kept up all day and long into the evening variying from that down to not much at all. I had to report early because I have to be at work by 7AM.

It rained pretty good between 6pm and 7pm starting with a bit of sprinkle and worked up to a pretty hard rain and the pettered out before building up to a down pour just before 7 when it petered out again. Had a bit of pea sized hail that was mostly white rather than clear. The hail was scattered and not a heavey fall. |
