In afternoon from 1 pm onward even though relatively clear in Santa Rosa where I was, to NE then to East and finally to SE along ridge of Macaymas mountains and to east of them; was a solid wall of big black thunderstorms. I could see huge down bursts of rain in spots as driving back to Rohnert Park at 4 pm. At 4:15 pm in Rohnert Park I was able to get a picture of a bright huge rainbow. It stretched from the northern base of Mt. Taylor, across it, past Bennett Valley to the top of Sonoma Mtn. |

Again clear and a crisp 45. High was a bit lower due to some high clouds at 65. However those bit of clouds kept us slightly warmer with a low of 39. So we did not need a frost warning last night. Yesterday I said I wasn't sure what low beyond the 38 I observed at 4:30 am. Later I looked at NWS website and it showed a low of 34 for a location 3 miles away closer to sunrise. |

Managed to get a few could pics before it was too dark. With spray from surf and frizzle from low hanging fog, it was enough to need wipers at times in afternoon. By sunset you needed wipers constantly when I left at 5:15 pm. Frizzle / ocean spray was enough to get you wet and damp quickly. Visibility was also down to the usual 1/3 - 1/2 mile. I needed wipers going south on Hwy 1 from Duncan's Landing to a bit south of where Hwy 12 dead ends into Hwy 1. |

Rain is letting up to a fine mist. It is 54 and sky is lighter as though trying to clear. After skies cleared yesterday late morning sun came out with just a few clouds with a high of 55. This was until 4 pm when clouds bringing our overnight & am rain moved it. Rain started lightly at 7:30 pm and continued thru night & morning, a nice lightly soaking in rain although a couple small spots in yard have a tiny bit of standing water. Overcast but dry and it is 53. Promised strong windy storm that wasn't. A bit of rain at 1 pm (.10) and nothing but mist till about 4 pm when a light rain finally started, a bit heavier at 6:30 pm. No downpours and a bit disappointing for an "El Nino" atmospheric river. Rain reached almost an inch by 9 pm. I like and appreciate the rain but was hoping for a stronger rainmaker. We have had other sunny days that were breaks in between rain storms but those days highs were low 50's or upper 40's. With this I was actually able to open the kitchen window for some sustained fresh air. Rain started a few minutes before pm at a pretty good rate. It rained for about 15 to 20 minutes and then quit. I guess I shouldn't have let NWS & Sandaya at ABC7 who who asking know in a tweet it had started. It never really did much again. Oh well, hopefully after a few days of dry and warm it will start to rain good again. So far the storms rain wise have just been ok with very few days over 1 inch in 24 hours. We need more of those! At least the wave action at coast has been good although unfortunately deadly and destructive a little south of here. Right now it is 53, high was 54 and low was 48. |

It was 54 to 56 range so I only needed a sweatshirt hoodie even during and after sunset. There were some big bad gorgeous waves with swells I believe in the 13 foot range. Already 59 out with some high thin clouds. High was 68 before clouds came in mid afternoon. Trace was at 5:45 pm - 6:15 pm when taking trash bins to curb and a very light mist was coming down. I could see it on bin lids and feel it. It wasn't enough to wet street. Low was 48. Keeping eyes, fingers and toes crossed that we are switching into a wet pattern aka a "Miracle March" for next couple weeks or more. Due to dry warm February we went from above normal to only 76% of normal rainfall. Sierra snowpack at Phillips Station snow measuring station has gone from 120% to only 86% of normal. Our area has a large reservoir so we still have water. However Bay area and other parts of state that depend on snowpack for water are doing increased drought focus. |

Majority of 2nd storm Sunday again was more to Santa Cruz County & southern Bay area, just like Saturdays unfortunately. They had thunder, lighting, heavy rain, occasional hail and wind. We are still under a flood watch thru Sunday night (tomorrow) although the Flood warning for Russian and Napa rivers was canceled when Friday's storm that was expected to linger and dump instead blew through quicker. Local creeks and the Laguna de Santa Rosa came close to touching bridges or touched them but not major street flooding. Even though RPX has been closed due to flooding just beyond us, our MHP hasn't had street flooding from creeks coming up storm drains although very close. High was 55 and low was 45. |

A news report also showed that some resorts in high Sierras had received over 500 "s of snow this season. However some spots are below average so still in some drought conditions. |

System that brought us wind dumped snow in Sierras and lower Cascades. Hwy 80 required chains and the finally closed in both directions from snow and accidents mid afternoon with an eta reopen of around midnight or so. Roads in Lassen NP & Tioga road also closed. It was reported that Kingsley on Hwy 80 received 13 " of snow. |

Reyes National Seashore Lighthouse where 30 minutes ago it was 57 with 28 mph winds and fog so thick at top of stairs that you can't see lighthouse 300 steps down. This is an excellent illistration Of our Northbay microclimates for as the crow flies that is about only 30 miles away. That's also why you always bring a jacket just in case if you are heading to coast. |

By 4 pm wind was definitely from the west with touch of ocean and temp had dropped another 5 degrees. By 7 pm temp was 60 and you could see fog pushing in. From air conditioning in early afternoon to sweatshirt weather by 7:45 pm. Low was 52. |
