Let's hope theclouds produce some precipitation and we get some colder temperatures so snow falls up high. It was very mild overnight and not below freezing. We walked home from the neighbors' house last night about 8:45 pm wearing just a sweater! We hiked to Lake Constantine in our shirt sleeves yesterday! Imagine that!

We may have had a shower early this morning because the porch and pavement were wet when I got up and they were not wet when we went to bed. This morning I see stars overhead but some heavy clouds moving in from the west.
10/21/2015 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M We had some very heavy clouds yesterday and after a meager 0.01" the sun popped out briefly. Currently we have some very dark, ominous clouds but it is not raining yet. Let's hope for some snow soon!

A steady drizzle fell throughout the afternoon and changed to snow again about 6 pm. Much of the snow melted on contact. This morning is very soggy and cloudy but it is not currently raining or snowing. I may have missed a drop or two when I brought in my sample I spilled some from the calibrated tube. What a relief to have some snow and significant moisture!

There were a few flakes of snow about 5 pm but the majority of the measurable snow fell during the night. Currently I can see the moon peeking through the clouds and we also have a few flakes of snow in the air.

This morning the sky is clearing and the thermometer is falling. We are in the single digits and could be close to zero.

The difference between the swe samples could be that the first precipitation was closer to rain and melted on contact. Again, there was wind late yesterday and during the night.

Sunday's temperature hardly changed all day and stayed upper teens to about 20 at our house. This morning the temp is in the teens.

About 2" more snow fell by 4 pm and again at times the snow fall was very heavy and accompanied by wind. The remaining snow fell during evening but not too much more during the night. It is currently mostly cloudy but I could see a sliver of moon and very cold, about 5 degrees. The snow is very dense, probably due to the wind. It is truly winter wonderland!

I took a measurement at 10:30 am knowing that as soon as the snow ended it would begin to melt. 2" fell by about 8:30 am and then we only added a few flakes until ceasing mid morning. An additional 1" fell yesterday evening. The totals are the combination of the 1 measurements. The temperature dropped during the heavier snow fall to upper 20's and then yesterday's high at this location was just above the freezing mark. This morning the sky is mostly clear with some high, thin clouds and the temperature is mid to upper teens.

The blue sky must have been my imagination because now we have heavy, low clouds and very soggy air!

The ground shook and there was not a gap between the lightning strike and the sound of thunder! No additional rain fell during the night but the rain began again about 6:15 am and it is currently raining and snowing just above us.

It rained so hard we couldn't hear each other talk and even on full speed the wipers couldn't keep up. Thankfully, the heavy rain was brief and then we were on to dry pavement. We had a lot of thunder and lightning and heavy rain. 0.55" fell in less than an hour yesterday afternoon. 0.09" fell in the evening. It is currently mostly clear but I see clouds moving in from the west. The soaking rain is most welcome. The temperature is in the upper 40's currently and hit the 70's during the day yesterday.

By early afternoon the temperature had dropped to mid 30's from mid 60's earlier in the day. Rain began late morning and was briefly heavy early afternoon. No additional rain fell late afternoon or during the night but there were some flakes of grapel snow or tapioca snow on the deck this morning. It is currently cloudy with the temperature about 34 degrees. Our low was close to or at the freezing mark. The fall colors are fabulous! Friday evening the sun hit patches of aspen on the mountain with black clouds in the background. The effect was a stunning!
