This will be a lengthy report. The day started out warm- In the 50's. My friend and I went to Berthoud for a dog show- outside. It began raining and we checked the weather. We saw a large cell near us, and a tornado watch for Wray. We packed up and headed home. We ran in rain and hail all the way from Berthoud to Wray. We just missed the Wiggins tornado, observing tin in the fence, double power poles snapped at ground level. We photographed and observed tornados North and South of Eckley CO, and once back in Wray, I took my friend and her dogs to Laird CO. I rushed back to Wray, seeing a huge black wall cloud South East of Wray being photographed by a storm chaser- Which by the way were thicker than fleas on a dogs back from Wiggins to Wray! Once in Wray I turned onto old 385 toward home. I noted the firehall was empty which I hoped meant they were on hills watching. As I reached the top of the hill a huge gust of wind blew in front of me from behind the hill, and to the right I saw gravel and debris begin to rotate. I could feel my SUV shaking so I slammed it into reverse and headed back to town. My husband called telling me to stay put, as he was surrounded by tails. I told a tornado chaser what my husband said, and his location. They took off North. I could only Pray as the largest tornado I had ever seen moved North toward our property. When I could go home, I had to take the long way as it had traveled down 385, taking out homes and business's. Our neighbors lost their home, but they were in the basement and they are ok. At our property 2 miles away we have debris from their home- insulation, plastic etc. All we got was some rain and wind. Only a few leaves are missing from the trees. I've had enough tornados for the year thanks. |

While everyone around us gets good moisture, we get a few drops. Which is good because we are residing the house and don't want our new insulation wet- Cold S wind overnight, but we were toasty with the added bats of insulation. No heat needed :) |
