Winter is here! Lite rain started a little before 8pm. and continued until after midnight still lite rain at 1am. Changed to snow after that. Snowboard reading 1.1" and on top of a 4x4 post 1.6" still snowing, not much wind, small flakes. Ground is warm therefore only a small amount of slush on drive and areas not insulated by grass. Believe that the warm ground also reduced snow reading at ground level on white aluminum snowboard. |

Snow stopped by 3pm. 2" on snow board, 2.5" to 5.5" around yard that averaged around 3.5" with some minor higher area drifts. Took a core sample from flat area of yard, depth was 3.9" and when melted yielded exactly 0.40" water. The snow board is white Alum. and could be affected by location close to pond and ground temp. I need more experience with it to know. Today's reading taken at 9am and yielded 0.10", melted from collection cylinder. Took another core from same location as yesterdays and waiting for it to melt (0.35" Result) depth was 3.9" snow board depth was 1.8" Pond had first part ice cover of the year. |

Yesterdays mornings heavy storm hit some areas much heavier than others. My location got almost a half inch between 8 and 9am which was reported on my 9am. observation report, but I am very sure that more rain fell a short distance away. Before 10am. it was all over and I had gotten .03inches more (reported today). Therefore the big storm of yesterday morning yielded a total of 0.52 inches here. |
