At first it looked like this front might come through here dry. Then, from 8:45 PM to 9:05 PM, an apparent last gasp shower along the frontal zone dropped 0.13 inches. It looked like this was going to be all, but then back-building and strengthening occurred behind the frontal zone bringing another 0.57 inches from 9:45 PM to 12:10 AM, for a 24-hour total of 0.70 inches. So, while a disappointing figure for a front of this magnitude and compared to rainfall produced elsewhere, especially a short distance to the south and east, the total was at least of some significance. Occasional embedded thunder in both episodes. 3-day and monthly total 1.91 inches (month to date average about 1.4 inches). 2016 year to date total now 34.63 inches (year to date average about 29 inches). |

Weakening convective cluster pushed in from the west-northwest, but with initial thunderstorms still developing on western edge. An initial thunderstorm from this system dropped 0.50 inches in 15 minutes, with periods of light to moderate rain thereafter, waning and ending just before observation time. However more scattered showers and a few storms continued to the west from around Topeka to beyond Salina at observation time with the stronger activity around Salina and beyond and trying to push eastward. |
