1/23/2016 7:30 AM 3.05 17.4 M 17.4 M Storm notes: - traded out measurement cylinder several times to avoid overflow and loss of data, estimated measurements were taken using a pole with markings placed out next to rain gauge and visible from window, not using official snow ruler - snow started about 13:30 on 1/22 - 17:20, measured 1.5" depth - 22:30, est. 4" depth, 0.61" melted - 23:45, est. 6" depth - 3:15 on 1/23, est. 12.5" depth, 1.01" melted - 7:25, measured final 17.4" depth for 24 hr period, add'l 1.43" melted for the total of 3.05" melted - all of these measurements are from near location of rain gauge on a roof deck somewhat sheltered from the wind - front driveway (west facing, prevailing wind from N to NE) had only 13", even more exposed back yard (east facing, no fence, opens on to stream/open land) only had 10.8"

Measurements were taken on a roof deck that had some drifting. A separate snow board down in the yard in a windier area only had from 2.5 to 5 inches of new snow (uneven due to wind, and also trampled on by deer)
