High 55 Low 46. There was rain much of the day including around dusk as it dipped to 46 in the evening with a cold rain. Temps rose a bit to 49 this morning with another shower.
Yesterday, I went to Mt. Mitchell where temps were in the 20's with rime ice on the trees with winds to 20-25 mph at times. There were snow flurries as well as sleet on the summit. There was not much of a view till I was descending down the mountain and the sun came back out. |

Tomorrow morning should be in the low 60's, upper 50's outskirts. Then heatwave comes back over the weekend, which I thought the 90's were done for the season. |

A severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings were issued. At my location, the second storm was worse. First storm was brief with mostly rain. The second, had the lightning and thunder and heavy rain. Some pops of lightning were close to the house.
Drainage ditch across the street was overflowing. This event was about 30 minutes. Another front came through and cleared out the skies this morning. Today should be around 90 and lows in the upper 60's to 70. This is about 5 degrees above normal. |
