Husband reported between 0.7 and 0.8' around 6pm. at 9:12pm (2112!!), 1.41" and obviously dumped. This morning at 8:08am an additional 1.03"! Yeek. And still raining SLIGHTLY. Around 15 minutes later, now as I type, a brief downpour followed by steady hard rain...man, we're gonna start evolving into merpeople!

Around 7pm, another ~0.4" (didn't measure, just glanced at). This morning, a bit late in checking gauge but another 0.44", for a total of 1.47" accumulation since 9:13 yesterday.

DANGEROUS driving conditions; most neighbors are staying home or venturing out on foot, thankfully.

7/17/2016 8:00 AM 4.30 M M M M *****NOTE that I reported 1.20" in the sig weather report of the first hour; I don't remember if I dumped that 0.20" or not! Read below: See sig weather reports. Rain started almost exactly 7pm. The first 15 min was crazy (see first report), and it let up a bit; then it poured yet again (total of 1.20" in 55min, I think it was). It picked up dramatically afterwards, going gangbusters until maybe midnight. People caught out --easy to do since it came on so quickly -- couldn't see! Car pulled over. There was flooding of roads, even major ones and the freeway I440 was closed (I don't know if there was standing water or not). I think it stopped around midnight but I don't know for sure. By the morning when I checked it, there was 4.3" (can't remember; which I'd've reported immediately!) total...I know I spilled a little bit when measuring, not more than .05" I imagine (which seems a lot but relatively little!). But here's the kick: I reported that 1.20", and then when the total was 4.3ish" (I think 4.31" but don't quote me), I can't remember if that .20" from night before was dumped or not! So it was either 4.3" or 4.5"...argh! I stored it in my brain as 4.50" so maybe I did dump, but I don't remember... Neighbors reported that folks were out in the (neighborhood) roads helping drivers navigate safely; the creek overflowed into the street, and elsewhere in town larger bodies did the same. Some basements, garages, etc flooded. We're thrilled we didn't get any water in our basement living areas.

9/21/2016 7:51 AM 0.67 M M M M (Yes, the reading was the same amount both days.) yay, two days of gentle, slow rain... perfect! Both times it ended around 3pm (pick up from school time) and didn't rain in the late afternoon, which gave the soil time to absorb the water. Excellent!

(My Friday morning reading was a bit late, so some of the accumulation from Friday morning between 8:00 and 8:48 or whenever I took reading probably should have been in this one. Sorry.) It started early in the morning and rained/freezing rained/sleeted all day. I couldn't pull the gauge off the post to melt and measure, though! So this is officially a 2 day report. Some snow Saturday early but not much accumulation from it. Sunday nothing after 8am.

It seems that it hadn't started raining until after 7am yesterday; husband says that it had just started raining at around 7:15 or whenever he went to rescue the laundry on the line. At any rate, it appears that all the accumulation was after 7am on Sunday the 29th, but I am still putting it as a multi-day accumulation.

It was fast less than we'd expected, based on what we had heard on news/weather website and the rain in nearby Charleston, SC (and downpour on I95 near Lumberton, NC, this evening). Sorry we couldn't get a field photo weekend entry in this time around.
