3/15/2016 3:00 AM M M M M M A powerful electrical storm passed through between 7:45 and 8:45 PM. Brief periods of heavy rain and a few minutes of pea sized hail were directly observed. Additional storms occurred overnight approximately 10 PM and later. No downed trees/limbs or flooding is apparent from this location at this time. edited at 4:40 PM: Typical puddles were observed along the creek bank this afternoon following the rain/hail Stagnant water measured 2 to 6 inches deep in many places along the left and right banks of the creek at Morrisville Community Park. Four fish were observed out of the creek in/around stagnant water. The scaled fin fish measured two to four inches long and about half as wide . (have not observed fish here before)Vertical clearance at the bridge was 7 feet 6 inches, the bottom is not visible due to increased turbidity and velocity of water flow.

3/20/2016 8:45 AM M M M M M The sky is overcast to the extent that the position of the sun can not be estimated. Although it rained overnight and at least two brief showers were observed yesterday afternoon/evening, the creek did not rise much and the bottom is still visible despite the low light conditions. A few streetlights were observed still on (unusual for this time of day) and a black vulture was observed perched on a residential complex trash dumpster. The vulture did not fly away after exchanging glances. Some high concentrations of yellow pollen were observed on stagnant shallow water surfaces in certain locations.

3/27/2016 9:30 AM M M M M M Showers yesterday afternoon/evening and overnight and this morning. I tossed a stick and a pine cone in the creek at the park. The cone floated downstream a distance of 15 feet in one minute. The stick meandered from bank to bank and took several minutes to float the same distance of 15 feet. There are some shallow (much less than 6 inches deep)standing water puddles along the creek bank in the typical locations.
3/28/2016 7:00 AM M M M M M Intermittent light showers mixed with some brief heavy rain throughout the day/night. This afternoon the creek water surface is 7 to 8 feet from the bridge foot surface. The bottom substrate is not visible due to increased water turbidity/velocity.
3/29/2016 3:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M The creek water level at the bridge is about 6 inches lower than yesterday and the bottom is visible now. I tossed several items (pine cone/twig/limb)in the middle of the flowing creek water and observed them float ten feet downstream in about ten seconds (+/- 3 seconds). Some shallow stagnant water puddles remain in the riparian area and adjacent parking lot today.

4/30/2016 8:00 AM M M M M M Light rain overnight and this morning. Despite recent rains, vertical bridge clearance was ~ 8 feet this morning and the creek bottom was visible despite the lack of sunlight due to 100% overcast and light mist/fog.
5/3/2016 7:00 PM M M M M M A strong thunderstorm passed through this evening. Light rain started around 5 PM followed by dark clouds, multiple thunderclaps, and heavy rains. The storm had passed and skies clearing by 6:30 PM. The creek measured at the bridge is about one foot deeper than it was 48 hours ago and turbidity has made the bottom of the creek not visible in most places. There is some standing water in the usual places (parking lot, baseball infield, sidewalk, riparian zone, etc.)measured in the magnitude of a few inches deep. No hail or significant wind damage was noted. (some small twigs, leaves, pollen, and flower petals are newly displaced after the rain.)
5/21/2016 5:00 AM T M M M M On the morning commute prior to 5 AM, there was fine particulate moisture in the air (fog/mist)that was so light it was observed in nearly suspended with some slow vertical and horizontal motion,
5/27/2016 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain observed. There was no flooding observed today, in fact many ditches were dry.
5/28/2016 3:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M The vertical distance between the slowly flowing shallow creek water and the wooden bridge foot surface was approximately 8 feet.
6/2/2016 5:00 AM T M M M M Observed a trace of precipitation before sunset yesterday. On the morning commute, prior to sunrise, I directly observed two lakes and one farm pond and several ephemeral drainage pools that were all Beaufort scale 0 assessed by reflections off their glassy surfaces in the dark.
6/3/2016 3:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Indoor barometer reads 1016.9 millibars. Indoor temperature and humidity are often very different than outdoor conditions due to heating, wind direction, showers, cooking, open doors, electronics, soil condition, etc. so barometer readings of the air mass indoors should be interpreted in a relative sense and followed for trends. The equipment has been used in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings and found to be fairly reliable and consistent with other equipment in the same area.
6/4/2016 7:00 PM M M M M M The air temperature 8 feet above ground on the side of the building that faces the morning sun is now 82 F.
6/6/2016 7:00 AM M M M M M Severe thunderstorms 6/5/2016. No flooding was observed but I did see wind damage interfering with traffic. A pine tree was partially blocking a lane of traffic at 5 AM. A newly fractured healthy (green leaves and green gumballs) sweet gumball tree with 5 inch diameter at the break was near the creek at the park. Some storms continued intermittently overnight.
6/7/2016 7:00 AM M M M M M Light drizzle started around 5 AM. Beaufort scale 0-1.
6/8/2016 4:30 AM M M M M M Beaufort scale 0-1. Excellent visibility. Sparsely distributed fine particulate was observed suspended and slowly falling in the air. The morning air had a faint odor of burnt wood.
6/9/2016 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Calm and partly cloudy most of the day.
6/10/2016 7:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Air was relatively dry today. Not much wind or breeze. A mix of sun and clouds.
6/12/2016 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The wind is calm. The sky is mostly without clouds and blue. The jet aircraft in flight overhead at low altitude approaching and departing the nearby airport appear slightly more "out of focus" this morning. (perhaps due to some type of haze)
6/13/2016 4:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The tree leaves are alternating between silence and gentle rustling in the breeze. Although many stars are visible in the morning sky, they are not bright, crisp, and clear appearing.

6/16/2016 3:00 AM M M M M M Strong thunderstorm last night led to a brief residential power "brown out". There are newly fallen leaves in the area but no flooded roadways, parking lot or nearby ditches. Edited based on early afternoon observations: High water occurred at Morrisville Community Park recently as evidenced by the deposition of a thin layer of “timberwolf” colored silt upon the usually “granny smith apple” colored foliage at the edge of the recreational field not far from the creek bank. For example, along the third base line and right field area of a baseball diamond, heavy concentrations of recently cut grass clippings were observed as deposited by the floodwaters on shrubbery 18 inches above ground level. The concentration and distribution pattern of fallen pine cones in certain high water areas of the parking lot also testify to the temporary high water level overnight.
6/19/2016 9:30 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The dew covered grassy field is showing large numbers of small, horizontally-oriented newly spun circus-tent like spider webs spun in the grass this morning at 9:30. The clear shallow creek water is flowing downstream at less than 1 knot.
6/21/2016 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Have seen some high cirrus clouds recently.
6/22/2016 6:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Mostly clear sky with light breezes prior to sunrise.
6/25/2016 5:00 AM M M M M M Rather humid. Aeronautical navigation aids were clearly visible to the south and east. Creeks were flowing downstream at low water levels. Flat glassy surfaces on lakes and ponds.
6/27/2016 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No new rain noted.
6/30/2016 7:00 AM M M M M M At 3 PM the creek water is nearly one foot higher than it was two days ago prior to the recent rains. It is flowing downstream at > 1 knot displaying a more turbulent pattern with detritus floating/submerging and resurfacing as circular eddies form between the two banks about 15 feet apart. The red slow blinking tower lights to the east and the quick flashing white tower lights several miles south were dimly visible between 4 and 5 am through the light foggy/misty conditions at that time and place.
7/3/2016 11:00 AM M M M M M
7/4/2016 4:00 PM M M M M M There are a few isolated areas of shallow stagnant water along creek and road sides. At 4 AM visibility of distant navigation tower lights was limited to 2 miles or less.
7/5/2016 10:00 AM M M M M M Mushrooms are emerging in certain moist areas, especially beneath trees. Many are the smaller, shorter variety with conical caps. A few with large flat caps (> 4 inch diameters) have been spotted.
7/6/2016 3:00 PM M M M M M The creek was flowing downstream at > 1 kt and < 2 kts with more than 7 feet of vertical airspace between the water and the bridge planks. Observed more than 10 bees (bumble and honey) in the clover patches not far from the creek.
7/8/2016 4:00 PM M M M M M At least 8 vertical feet of distance were measured between the water and the bridge. I counted at least 8 deceased bivalve mollusks (freshwater mussels) on a nearby newly re-exposed sandbar. The empty bivalve shells measured ~ 1 inch long and less than 1 inch wide. The upper and lower shell portions were still connected but in the spread open position with the interior face down and exterior face up with a mix of bright and dull colors.
7/9/2016 8:30 PM M M M M M Abundant arthropods were clicking and chirping at diverse frequencies, wavelengths, volumes, and tempos. The moon was clearly visible. A few bats were silently swooping a low altitude. Calm or no wind.
7/11/2016 8:00 PM M M M M M There was a brief light rain shower early this morning starting at ~3:45 AM.
7/12/2016 2:00 PM M M M M M No precipitation, thunder, or optics were observed.
7/13/2016 4:00 PM M M M M M We have had some light showers within the past 24 hours. There is still more than 8 vertical feet of distance between the fairly clear appearing slowly flowing creek water and the wooden bridge.
7/14/2016 7:00 PM M M M M M The creek water level is not higher than it was yesterday.
7/17/2016 8:00 AM M M M M M Examples of creek water levels rising more than 8 feet in the last 12 hours include: aquatically distributed sediment on the walking surface of the wooden bridge; aquatically uprooted cattails with smooth terminal spikes 4 to 5 inches long found in the park away from their area of growth; aquatically distributed leaves, pine straw, and sediment caught in chain link fences along 1st base/right field of ball field #3 and wire mesh of several park benches and trash cans 2 to 3 feet above ground level along the creek side. edit: at 8 AM today the creek water is ~ 6 vertical feet below the bridge walking surface, is rapidly flowing downstream, appears to be receding, and appears "tumbleweed" colored with a few stationary accumulations (several inches tall and less than 4 feet wide) of light colored foam in areas along the bank that are not readily flowing downstream.
7/20/2016 3:00 PM M M M M M The creek water is flowing freely downstream and not flooded. The color resembles "tumbleweed" with a small tint of "olive green" color in the sunlight.
7/22/2016 4:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M It is very hot with a slight breeze and tall clouds.

7/31/2016 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M There was no rain observed here in past 24 hours. At 5:30 PM distinct mammato-cumulus clouds were observed overhead.
8/3/2016 7:00 PM M M M M M Although there was some rain from evening thunderstorms, the creek level is low enough to see the bottom and flowing slow enough for small minnows (< 4 inches long)to be visible from > 10 feet above in swimming motion pointed upstream.
8/4/2016 8:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M At 8 PM, the ground is dry. Many streetlights are on. A few bats and lightning bugs are airborne already. Abundant crickets and other insects are clearly audible.
8/5/2016 4:00 PM M M M M M As a result of rain in the last 24 hours, there is standing water in the woods along the creek banks. The creek water level has risen to cover sandbars and stones that were visible two days ago. At the bridge where minnows were seen treading water, the water is "tumbleweed" colored instead of clear, and flowing so fast that the minnows would not be able to "hold their own" even if the water was clear enough to see them. A light shower started a few minutes ago at 3:38. No thunder or significant wind accompanied the shower.
8/9/2016 10:00 AM M M M M M We experienced heavy rain and thunderstorms in the last 24 hours. Although there are indications of rising creek waters, there are no remaining floodwaters, and some ditches are already dried up.

8/14/2016 7:30 PM M M M M M We experienced a few light drops of rain this evening that did not accumulate and not really measurable. The creek water was observed to be fairly clear, some sandy shoals, rocks, and sandbars visible, indicating low water level well below flood stage this afternoon.
8/16/2016 5:00 AM M M M M M No significant rain or flooding noted in 24 hours. Prior to dawn damp sidewalk areas were noted in areas prone to leaks and/or automated sprinkler areas. Sandbars and shoals are appearing in the slowly flowing creek.
8/17/2016 5:20 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M The nearby creek water level is low and is flowing unusually slow to the extent that freshly fallen or cut leaves are accumulating on banks and shoals. Also an unusual, mostly monochromatic, slim, organic sheen is noted along the edge of one sandbar. (surface area estimated <15 square inches total).
8/22/2016 3:30 AM T M M M M The moisture from the brief thundershowers of yesterday evening have evaporated without a trace. A bright "shooting star" was seen rapidly descending in the western sky at 3:30 AM. The trajectory formed a diagonally obtuse angle relative to the northern horizon.
8/23/2016 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Observed 25 geese in flight at low altitude just prior to sunrise.
