At 8 am, there was a light sprinkling of small white balls over the ground, including the street and sidewalk. The balls ranged between 1/8" to 1/4" in diameter. They were soft to the touch, crumbling like snow (and then melting) when I pressed them with my finger; they were not hard ice balls. The white balls were scattered with about 30 to 40 per square foot.

In areas somewhat protected from the wind, the snow seems to be about 1/2" deep. However, there are large, dry, bare patches on the sidewalks and small drifts mostly 2" to 3" deep. The deepest small drifts are against north-facing walls and are as deep as 4".

Light snow mixed with rain, and sometimes freezing rain, fell intermittently throughout the day into the evening. At the time of the observation this morning (Jan 7, 2016), the sidewalks and streets were covered with a thin, sometimes patchy, layer of crunchy, uneven ice, topped with a dusting of snow.

The precipitation started as rain and continued as rain-mixed-with-sleet, rain-mixed-with-snow, back to rain, etc. Ground, sidewalks and streets are mostly just wet -- with a sprinkling of snow/sleet on wooden railings and fallen leaves at the time of observation.

Temperature was around 30F at time of observation. Snow was fluffy but stuck together easily. Snow depth on sidewalk was visibly less than on the adjacent ground. 4" to 5" on sidewalk and 6" to 7" on adjacent ground and on the roofs of parked cars. About ten measurements made for each type of location. Could not measure snow depth on street.
