10/4/2015 7:00 AM 0.04 M M M M Two small bouts of rain, one at about 1 PM, the other after midnight. The drought pattern of very small rainfalls continues. .02 was the product of 30% and .02 was the product of 60%.
10/5/2015 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 70% chance of rain and not a drop. Curious about the assumptions behind the forecast.
10/6/2015 7:00 AM 0.33 M M M M 40% at around 10 PM gave us most of the rain, followed by a bit more after midnight at 10%. We are so blessed and grateful - the most rain in one day that we have had since 29 July: 68 days with very little rain. The plants and we can breathe again! The RH is 95%, too!
10/7/2015 7:00 AM 0.26 M M M M 40% chance of precipitation was the sweet spot for us! It is refreshing to finally be getting some good precipitation after such a long period without it.

10/17/2015 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M My trees are still largely green from the extremely warm temperatures we have been having this month compared to normal temperatures.
10/18/2015 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Still quite warm, but the trees are finally just starting to turn. This is the latest I have ever seen them turn in 20 years at this location.
10/19/2015 7:00 AM 0.00 M M M M We were on the zero side of the 50% chance of precipitation, not the 5 side,today.
10/20/2015 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
10/21/2015 7:00 AM 0.32 M M M M Biggest single amount of rain reported since July! 60-70% chance of precipitation on target. Very foggy right now with heavy gray clouds promising more rain. 94% RH. First snow on the mountains! Chicoma thickly covered. Old timers say that indicates a frost.
10/22/2015 7:00 AM 1.41 M M M M One of the biggest two-day rains ever in 15 years at this location: 1.73. Since our yearly average is 12", you can extrapolate how wet it is right now. It fell very steadily, so it soaked in pretty well. The trees must be ecstatic after our long, hot dry late summer and early autumn. It will help everything survive the winter.
10/23/2015 7:00 AM 0.08 M M M M We are now over our yearly average [thank you CoCoRaHS for the info!] of 12" Rain this year has fallen in very heavy bursts rather than evenly.

They ought to be seeing the clear pattern of low rainfall when rain comes from the north or northwest in this area.
8/1/2016 7:00 AM 0.98 M M M M The storm came in 3 waves, about an hour apart, starting at 20:44. We were watching a huge lightning show in the Jemez when we suddenly saw lightning near us. There were no storm clouds over us and not even much over the Jemez at sunset, just a bit of rain over Pajarito, certainly nothing indicating an intense storm. The intense cells seem to have formed extremely quickly over localized areas after dark. Usually we can see rain coming from a long way off, but not last night. Lightning struck the ground repeatedly about 300 yards from our house while there was more cloud to cloud above us. I'm very curious about how this set of storms formed so quickly and intensely without any warning. The only thing I noticed beforehand was how very still and hot the air was, a bit like the way the air feels in the eye of a hurricane, but not as extreme. We were at 3.66 inches of precipitation for the calendar year before this storm. I think the rain put out a new wildfire start on the Rio Grande in Bandelier.

There was almost constant cloud to cloud and frequent cloud to ground lightning for about 45 minutes. The rain fell in heavy bands. The odd thing about this storm is that we had a cool, dry day. In the hour before sunset we had quite a stiff breeze from the SE, but not a single thundercloud anywhere, just fair weather clouds. It felt like a nice early fall evening. The wind died down completely and it was very still after sunset.
