Very gusty winds much of the day. The power went out at 10:51a and was back on around 12:30p. The sprinkles began at 11am and progressed to showers and rain. At 1:12p there was very gusty winds and heavy rain; then it was sprinkles to "normal" rains and breezy winds until about 8:08p, there was another heavy downpour. Didn't check for winds. Two neighbors said siding was blown loose. I had a large branch come down; it tore the dark blue tarp [not the flimsy light blue ones] covering the greenhouse to shreds. It flapped the weed fabric and garden bed covers back and forth and I need to redo that. I need to mow the leaves. What a mess. |

I lost some shingles off the roof of the dog house cover and some things on the porch were blown by such strong winds that it sounded like something "big" hit the house and woke me up. Dense fog moved in sometime around 8:30a or so. It was "normal" out, then I was socked in and it isn't a misty rain - it;'s fog. The temp was 54.0 at 6:10a and has been dropping, and is now 51.1 at 8:55a. I was woke up at 9:45p last night by a downpour. It was like squalls several times and then seemed to settle down to rains. It was a gloomy and drizzlie day. Some rains were squally-like. About 11:24p there was thunders and flashes. NOAA radio gave a tornado watch # 564, which expired and #567 to 4a. Luckily the worse passed here by about 1A. There was periods of very heavy rain, it was very gusty, and it rained hard enough at times to lose the satellite TV signal. I haven't been out to check the property; it is slippery, sloppy wet out; but I don't think I had any damage. The worst of the storm passed by here but I hear there was wind damage and possibly a tornado or so. Really weird weather for late December. |

At 8:42a yesterday morning, there were thunders, flashes and heavy rains; Rains are very squally.At 10:51a more thunders and rumbles; more thunders at 11:26a;at 12:17 I saw a flash and thought a bulb had blown, then came the rolling thunders and shook the house big time.

At 7:11a, big, fat flakes were really coming down quite heavily. I measured at 8:00a and had 1-1/2 inches of fresh, unpacked snow with an SWE of 0.08-in.
There was likely another 1/2-in of fresh snow on the spot I had collected from but did not go out to measure - coming down too much and there was some sleet mixed in with it at that time [9:01a] - you could hear the hits. By 8:20a the snowfall was becoming lighter; then at 8:34a it began to come down rather heavy again. There was some winds which blew it one way, then the other, but nothing really strong. At 9:230a it was all 'rain" and left spots in the snow where it fell. At 9:44a it was a snow/mix again. I later managed to grab a sample [forgot to write down the time but it was between 9:49a and 10:36a when I did note the outside temps] and it was hard to get one as there was ice layers in the batch. The snow had compacted and I only measured 1-3/4-in total fall mix with an SWE of 0.20. There was some light flurries and mixes since but have not been out again - rather difficult to walk out on - 1:57p at this time.
I made several measurements this morning and had amounts from 2", 2-1/4", and 2-1/2" deep. I'm sure we likely had at least 3-inches overall as the snow had compacted and had at least a couple layers of ice in it. There was a crust on top of the snow and it made walking a bit unsteady as the crust gave as you walked on it.

This is *NOT* a complete report as I am not able to get to the guage to measure what is in it since the last measurement I had taken. I measured 2-in of snow with an SWE of 0.53 at 12:12p yesterday. I measured another 4-in of snow with an SWE of 0.29 at 3:31p yesterday. A neighbor borrowed my snow shovel yesterday and still has it, so I am unable to shovel to get to the gauge to measure what fell since 3:31 pm from a flat area I was able to take a measurement from, that had 7-1/4-in of snow at 7:00a this morning, with an SWE of 0.84. That may be what the guage holds but I can't say. This will also skew tomorrows report as I haven't been able to get to the gauge to empty it, so as to capture any that fell since 7:00a. I am also unable to fill out the new snow fields as I have not been able to get a true measurement. |

I measured 3 areas and all had 4-1/4-in of fluffy, [powdery snow. The SWE was 0.24. At 12;22p yesterday there was light sleet and tiny snowflakes falling. At 1p there was a lot of sleet falling. 1:16p - again. The winds were very gusty and blew the accumulation about and there was tiny, short "blizzards". At 3:10p a light snow was falling.At 6:30p it was snowing and blowing and looked to have 1-1/2 to 2-inches of snow already. For right now, this morning at least, there is no ice layer in the accumulation. |

I looked out at 2:33p yesterday and it was sleeting and really coming down. I thought it was snow but then I walked out and watched the ice bits bouncing. Later it was a mix of rain/sleet/snow and not always in that order. It sleeted enough one time that the yard was white like it had snowed. It was a bit icy out early this morning but it warmed up enough I was able to go out. There was minor sleeting when I was in Jamestown, then turned into a rather pleasant, though cool, day. |

That's for here. I was in Jamestown, TN when the heavy rains hit and have no idea of what they received. However, there was lightning, thunders and some light hail there. The rains came down so hard that it was near impossible to see the road markers to drive. It was a local event as the rains became lighter, the closer I got to home and was nearly over when I got here. |

Sunday was breezy and chilly and about 2:20p I was out and it was a cold drizzlie rain; then it began to snow - yes, snow with an outside temp of about 45.5F - imagine that. It mainly was melting but after awhile it was coming down long enough and hard enough it did began to accumulate in some areas. I measured 1.13-in precip about noon yesterday. At 1:45p yesterday NOAA gave a Severe Thunderstorm Watch #348 to 9p. At 3:33p some Severe Warnings were issued for various counties. At 4:40p-ish rain began to fall; at 4:49p loud, close thunders and strong winds wet the front 8-ft. covered porch to the front door. On the side covered porch, the rains blew to the side door. Two boomers were very close and one close enough I heard the "crack" before the boom. Scared a cat so much I didn't see him for hours. I measured 0.45-in precip sometime between 4:27p and 5:59p. I measured another 0.02-in this morning; for a total of 1.60-in for the reporting period. |

At 10:36p there was power fluxes and lights blinked and the UPS unit flicked off and on several times. At 10:46p there was close thunders, rains and gusty winds. At 11:25p there was still thunders. It rained earlier in the day while I was in Jamestown which had a gully-wash downpour, sometime around 3p or so, with winds and thunders, but it lessened the closer I got to home. I later measured what was in the rain guage at 0.45-in and this morning, another 0.08 for a total of 0.53-in for the reporting period. There was some fairly long tree branches down and branch tips with leaves all over, things blown around, but haven't seen any significant damage myself. |

Thunders and rumbles about 11:37a; drips and splats about 11:55a; 11:59a was a light shower; 12:40p drizzles and sprinkles; Sprinkles and drips off and on even to 2:55p. At 4:55p I noticed it had been raining - a nice rain. At 5:03p, 5:04p, 5:07p - close thunders; 5:13p even closer; 5:17p grumbles and rumbles and rolling thunders and heavy rain. At 5:24p the sun came out while a light shower was falling. 7:28p, 7:40p more thunders. At 6p, I noted that it had been 'grumbling' outside for some time, but looking out, there was no evidence of any moisture. At 6:10p there was a short, light rain and still plenty of thunders but no more precip. Still lots of 'grumbles at 6:24p and again later at 7:54p and then quiet. The garden is dying even with watering twice a day in't enough. The moisture is pulled right out and the plants wilt. Basically, I am collecting what I can and pulling up the garden for this year, except for 'cole' plants. It is too warm yet but plan to try. What the dryness isn't killing, the 'stink' bugs harlequin bugs and pseudo Ladybugs are finishing. Time to shut down. The trees aren't very happy either. The soil is hard and like concrete. |

The only way I knew the big yellow school bus was on the road was the blinking light on top. Couldn't see neighbor across the street. It has since cleared a lot but it is still smoky out. |

It was quite breezy out yesterday afternoon and it knocked over some taller potted plants out in front. At 7:05p it was still gusty/breezy and I felt some sprinkles when I went out on the porch and Amber came in with a damp back and tail. When I looked out at 7:32p it was raining. We need much, much more as the trees are already turning colors and dropping leaves - rather early for so much. |
