Yesterday, after the "big snow", it was reported that 11.5" of snow had a melted value of 1.72". These numbers have to be disregarded because it was learned later that the grandson had put some snow in the gauge! Hence, a core sample will be forthcoming very soon. Current conditions for 12/23-"overcast", no precipitation during the overnight, the haze is light as is the air movement which is nil, wind gust 2 mph, humidity 81% (yesterday, it was 95%), dew point 24°, current snow level is near 500' rising to 1500' later this afternoon, observation time temperature was 25°, and the baromeric pressure 29.52" and rising. |

Current conditions for 2/09-partly cloudy (scattered Cirrus); since then however, the skies have cleared other than some scattered Cirrus to the North, no precipitation in the last 24, the haze is light to moderate due in part to the strong ridge of high pressure over the region {which at this point in time looks to persist over the area through Thursday-according to the GFS model-before breaking down and moving East} and hence, contributes to little or no air movement. Current conditions for 2/10-overcast, no precipitation in the last 24, a thin veneer of frost encased the front half of the gauge, the haze is moderate due in part to high pressure over the area (though it appears to be in the process of breaking down) which keeps air movement at a minimum. However, the wind gust is 2 mph, humidity 85% {yesterday, the reading was 68%}, dew point 31°, current snow level is near 7000' [yesterday, the freezing level was near 12,500'], observation time temperature was 28°, and the barometric pressure 30.28" and falling. |

There has been no precipitation in the last 24, air movement is first from the WNW at 3 mph, then out of the North to 1 mph, wind gust 3 mph, humidity 59%, dew point 39° {yesterday the readings were 39% and 32° respectively}, current freezing level is near 12,500' [yesterday, it was near 10,500'], observation time temperature was 39°, and the barometric pressure 30.23" and rising. |

As an interesting sidenote, yesterday's high of 81° was not only 20° above the normal high of 61°, but also was just 1° short of tying the record high on that date way back in 1977!! |

Unfortunately, our computer was being serviced for the past few days so nothing was reported during this time; however, two days ago, 0.56" was recorded for the first measureable precipitation of the month. Current conditions for 4/16-partly cloudy (scattered Cirrus), no precipitation in the last 24, the haze is moderate, air movement is first out of the West to 7 mph, then from the NE at 2 mph, wind gust 5 mph, humidity 52%, dew point 35°, current freezing level is near 7000', observation time temperature was 37°, and the barometric pressure 30.33" and rising. |

Current conditions for 4/17-mostly clear (scattered Cirrus along with a few Contrails), no precipitation in the last 24, the haze continues to be moderate as light air movement {due to strong high pressure over the area} is first out of the WSW to 9 mph, then from the East at 2 mph, wind gust 4 mph, humidity 54%, dew point 41°, current freezing level is near 11,000' [yesterday it was near 7000'], observation time temperature was 39°, and the barometric pressure 30.57" and rising. By way of an interesting note, the strong ridge of high pressure-mentioned above-should remain over the area for the next few days before "sliding east" and hence, record highs are a good possibility in this area. |

Current conditions for 8/19-mostly clear skies (scattered Cirrus from North to East), no precipitation in the last 24, haze status: moderate to bad, air movement is out of the SW to 4 mph, then from the South at 2 mph, wind gust 3 mph, humidity 27%, dew point 41° {yesterday, the readings were 45% and 54° respectively}, current freezing level is near 15,500', observation time temperature was 62°, and the barometric pressure 30.13" and rising. The heat should stay with "us" through the weekend; however another dry cold front is forecast to move through the area sometime Sunday and hence the high temperature for Monday is projected to reach only the low 80's. This break from the heat should be short lived as highs for the upcoming work week and into next weekend are forecast to reach the upper 80's to low 90's. Yesterday early evening, the BP was 29.86" and falling as of 6:25 PM. |

Current conditions for 8/27-earlier this morning, the mostly overcast sky was very interesting in appearance (scattered Cirrus to the South, Altostratus, what appeared to be horizontal verga, a large Altocumulus Lenticularis to the South, and even a larger one to the North (one "stacked" on top of the other) that looked like the base of a tornado though without the spinning action, no precipitation in the last 24, haze/smoke status: moderate, air movement is out of the WSW to 8 mph, wind gust 3 mph, humidity 54%, dew point 51° {yesterday, the readings were 35% and 42° respectively}, current freezing level is near 13,000 [yesterday, it was near 14,000'], observation time temperature was 61°, and the barometric pressure 29.69" and falling.
