There was a pause, for a few hours, in precipitation after that first snowfall. I realized that the outer cylinder of the gauge was not set up outside, and put it out around 5 pm. So, these readings are the sum of water in the gauge (5 pm to 7 am) and the snow melt of snow remaining on the ground this morning. Only 0.05" of rain/snow fell after 5 pm, until 7 am this morning. I'm sure some melt escaped into the ground.

It's just a couple of inches at the thickest parts, coverage is less than 50%. I'm not doing core readings with this snowfall, I've been too busy the past several days. There is very little snow on the south facing mountains and other areas that receive sun. It's now limited to the shade, and on the north facing mountain slopes.

2/20/2017 7:00 AM 0.83 M M M M We got less damage from the rain, compared to three days ago. Some runoff, but not more erosion. The hillside is holding, and previous rains prepared the ground for much faster absorption of additional rain. The ground feels wet, but not squishy, yet, even in the field. So, the ground isn't saturated, yet. Our clay soil is like that, it seems. Hope the hillside continues to hold on. Glad I have been cultivating the bunch grass, and letting the local grasses go to seed before brush clearance in the early summer. That helped to minimize the erosion on my property. The new grass shoots held much of the soil intact, even where there was strong runoff.

Snow and gauge measurements were taken once most of the snowfall and rain had ceased. The hail woke me up, tiny stuff about 1/16" in diameter. This changed to tiny snowflakes and lasted only an hour or two.

The culvert 1/4 mile away blocked up, so that the dip was flooded with at least 1' of debris and silt. I luckily got home before this happened, and the damage was cleared up by next morning.

9/11/2017 7:00 AM 0.54 M M M M Wasn't home at the time of the sort rainfall period, sometime on Sunday evening, but it must have been heavy and brief, since there was some erosion to my hillside. The new culvert 1/4 mile from my home blocked again and flooded Boy Scout Rd at that dip, depositing a little less than 1' of silt, gravel, and rocks on that part of the road. Up to my driveway, other places along the road needed to be cleared of debris. There appeared to be a road block down Lockwood Valley Rd about 1/2 mile, towards Ozena, and at the road to the Sheriff's substation. There are two large dips in the road to accommodate water flow at that location, but the road could have had landslides and flooding/debris further on, too.
