The heaviest I encountered in my drive around the north end of Lake Temikaming between 3-4pm was in St. Bruno de Guige, Quebec. Never fails. I go to visit my friends at their cottage and the wind blows hard and it rains.

This cold snap really accelerated the leaves changing. Our big white pine has dropped all its needles and there's cedar seeds everywhere.

Started at 4:05am, first rain at 4:10 and a deluge at 4:15 for 8 minutes, then the rain eased off. About 8mm fell in the deluge with a total of 11.6mm overnight. Temps went from near 0C (high of 2C yesterday) up to 19C this morning. Wonder which season we'll have tomorrow.

Light fine snow is still falling. Our kitten's first snow experience - she raced out into it did a few flips and bounces, then headed for the bush for mouse hunting.

It's light and fluffy and it compacted yesterday so now the accumulation is 16.0cm. That's .5cm less than yesterday morning even with the new snow. The snow is so dry that I can't plant the snow stick yet.
12/16/2016 7:00 AM T T T 6.3 M A fine dusting (trace) of snow overnight and frost on the outside of the gauge. Temp in the mid -20's. Glad we don't get lake effect snows here - just Colorado Lows. Waiting for it over the next 2 days. Lake Temiskaming had a fine layer of ice yesterday that broke up with the wind. We'll have to wait and see if today's ice can withstand the Colorado Low as it comes in.

12/27/2016 7:00 AM 0.20 T T 10.0 M Yesterday was an "everything but the kitchen sink" day, but we lucked out on intensity and amounts. A total of 5.5mm fell off and on starting with freezing rain then changing to rain, snow, snow grains and ice pellets. The temp held at -18C for most of the day until the evening when it rose rapidly to +2C. Roads and walking were okay once the snow grains came in late morning, but the evening ended with a brief, heavy freezing rain/ice pellet mix hat left a dangerous coating on everything. There was just a trace of granular snow on the cars this morning. I'm leaving the snow depth in the yard at 25.5cm. It's too treacherous to try to get there to measure.

Around 7pm last night a flock of about 100 arrived in our trees in the backyard, chirped excitedly for about a half hour and then moved on to roost for the night.
