Observation Date Observation Time Precipitation Snowfall Snowfall SWE Snow Depth Snow SWE Notes
10/1/2016 7:00 AM 0.75 M M M M 4th straight day of beneficial rainfall to finish the month with a near normal precipitation total. September was the first month of the summer 2016 "wet" season to total more than 5". Hopefully Matthew's forecast relatively slow passage in the Atlantic parallel to the east coast a few hundred miles offshore around the middle of next week will produce several more days of meaningful rainfall.

10/3/2016 7:00 AM 0.78 M M M M Several rounds of brief torrential rainfall accompanied be occasional lightning between 4:30-5:30 am this morning. Doppler estimates placed much heavier rain totals both north and south of my location.
10/4/2016 7:00 AM 0.27 M M M M A brief moderate to heavy shower (no lightning) came in from the east off the Atlantic just prior to the morning rf observation. Another shower followed after gauge was emptied. Wind was near calm prior to showers, then ENE 10-15 mph afterward.
10/5/2016 7:00 AM 0.07 M M M M Precip. measured this morning's obs fell shortly after yesterday's 7am obs. Several trace amount sprinkles were observed overnight. Preparations for a very close (if not direct hit) passage by deadly hurricane Matthew now underway along east central Florida's coast.
10/6/2016 7:00 AM 0.63 M M M M After a day of dry weather and light wind allowing good preparation for Matthew's arrival, a brief heavy shower (with wind gusting to 20 mph) came in off the Atlantic from the ENE yesterday at dusk.

10/11/2016 7:00 AM T M M M M Very light showers out over the Atlantic working their way in along the coast this morning in the moderate to strong onshore flow. Wind gusted to 30 mph from the northeast overnight, and some erosion occurred on local beaches during the pre-dawn high tide, especially in front of the sea walled portions of the shoreline where the dune was weakened or destroyed by hurricane Matthew.
10/12/2016 7:00 AM 0.04 M M M M Several "rounds" of brief coastal showers, each producing trace or 0.01" amounts, noted during the past 24 hours given the fresh to strong (20-30 mph) onshore wind flow.

10/19/2016 7:00 AM T M M M M Yesterday's trace of rain marked the 9th straight day with very light precipitation observed from coastal "nuisance" showers driven in by the persistent strong onshore wind off the Atlantic. The total for the 9-day period was only 0.17". That after receiving over 5" of rain in 2 days from hurricane Matthew's passage.

5/5/2017 7:00 AM 0.67 M M M M Off/on light to occasionally moderate rainfall ongoing at 7am observation. Two rounds of thunderstorms nearly 12 hours apart just before sunset yesterday and sunrise this morning accounted for the very beneficial rain. Early May is normally very dry, but the pair of fronts this week have produced one of the wettest weeks since hurricane Matthew way back in early October of last year.

5/14/2017 7:00 AM 0.44 M M M M Morning low was a refreshing 66F with moderate fog and low stratus at sunrise. The desperately needed light to moderate rainfall entered in this morning's report came in several rounds that started around 2 pm and extended into late afternoon. The rain-cooled late afternoon temperature in the low 70's provided a nice respite (for people and plants!) to the week-long run of hot/dry weather in parched east central Florida.

Hopefully the sea breeze generated storms forecast to build this afternoon will drift back toward the coast and bring welcome rain.
6/26/2017 7:00 AM 0.93 M M M M 2 rounds of heavy rain (nearly an inch of welcome rain), accompanied by several rumbles of thunder, were observed early in the evening as widely scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm pushed across the coast from the SW.
