A treacherous freezing mist fell last night starting around 5:50 p.m. when we were getting ready to head to town. Noticed around 9:00 p.m. precip had stopped for the time being as I got firewood. A severe thunderstorm raced through our farm yesterday with straight line winds flattening two burr oaks trees, and other limb damage on smaller trees. Limb and leaf debris everywhere! Also have many tree tops snapped off laying in corn field across from our house. Lost a garage window. White rain came so hard and sideways that really don't know if the gauge collected the correct total. In 20 minutes we received 1.27 inches. Hail fell around 3:25 p.m. for about 1 minute. Lost power soon after storm for about 1 hr. This morning we have partly sunny skies; nice SW breeze; 76 deg F. And a lot of work ahead of us! |
