2/6/2017 3:15 AM T 0.0 M 0.0 M A brief shower was witnessed yesterday morning around 8 AM. Temperature is just above freezing and RH is well above 50%. No flooding was observed yesterday. Clear color demarcations between natural brown grass, grass professionally treated with green color, and grass watered with sprinklers observed in a nearby residential area. Sun/shade exposure also an obvious factor in lawn grass appearance yesterday. Creeks were flowing downstream without any flooding, a few isolated areas of standing water puddles were observed.
2/7/2017 8:30 AM M M M M M No flooded or dry creek beds were observed. I observed and measured 9 branches of a nearby tree with branch circumferences of 6 to 16 inches at eye level. 5 of the 9 branches had patchy crusty growths of pistachio pudding colored class Ascomycetes. Most of the growths were generally between 300 and 80 compass degrees (north/north-east) of the quasi circular branch circumferences. The tree also had some small tufts of grey hairy type growths less than 1 square inch and some sap drops on the underside of some branches. The appearance and color of the growths is not always the same throughout the year and may possibly reflect, or be affected by, air/soil moisture levels.
2/8/2017 3:30 AM M M M M M Light rain is and has been falling. shallow water can be seen and heard trickling downward beneath the parking lot within the storm drain system. 2/20/2017 3:00 PM M 0.0 M 0.0 M I observed two adult, lean Ardea sp. in water over their knees in Crabtree Creek. The birds did not appear to be overly exerting themselves (which indicates relatively slow currents and water well below flood stage). A drake and hen pair of puddle ducks was observed dabbling and floating in Hatcher Creek an hour later. The ducks were not overexerting and nimbly moving in different directions while afloat. Another indicator of no flooding and fair weather.
2/21/2017 4:00 PM M M M M M No flooding. Benthic substrate (light sand/pebbles/cobble/boulder, etc)of nearby creeks and ditches is completely exposed in some areas (sandbars/shoals, shallows) and visible through shallow slow moving water in some areas.
2/22/2017 4:30 PM M M M M M Brief period of very light sprinkles observed around 3:30 PM. no flooding observed on area creeks, relatively low water flowing slowly.

5/30/2017 5:00 AM M M M M M At observation time, paved surfaces were dry or damp, curbs were not draining, grass was moist/damp, and parked autos have rainwater on them. A benthic creek substrate sample of 1/4 level cup from a shaded stagnant ditch obtained prior to the shower weighed ~2.8 ounces and consisted of sand or smaller sized particles with the exception of two pebble sized particles. The overall appearance of the substrate was "sepia" colored mud.
5/31/2017 4:45 AM T M M M M A brief light mist was witnessed yesterday afternoon. At several daylight observation points along the creek banks on 5/30/17 between SR 1613 and NC 54, creek water was <1 ft deep and flowing 1 kt or less downstream.
