Max wind gust for the month was 19mph on the 16th. Barometer is currently flat=lined at 30.00"Hg, for the last 10 hours.

Yesterday McCully Mountain had continuous rain turning to moderate to heavy showers in the afternoon with a high temperature of 48°f. The low temp overnight was 45°f. Barometer over the last 7 hrs has been relatively steady and stands at 30.18"Hg. Pressure rose .29" from yesterday's low of 29.89"Hg. Max Wind gust occurred at 3:38pm. from the west at 20mph. The good rain is welcomed on McCully Mountain. Radar echos off the coast will likely bring more rain in later today.

Yesterday McCully Mountain had a high of 51°f, low temp was 47°f at midnight and it has only got warmer since, now at 50°f because of a warm front passing bye. Barometer just started to rise in the last hour, now at 30.02"Hg. Overnight wind gust to 14mph from the west at 12:28am.

Over the last 7 hours the pressure has fallen .01" but this might allow the stationary front that has giving rain to Washington state is sagging south and may actually give us a bit of rain also.

Barometer has been falling for more than 24 hours and stands at 29.77"Hg the lowest since June. Wind max has been 15mph from the NW. There is definitely a lot more rain on the way.

Now the rain has slowed down only .15 since midnight making 2.03 cocorahs total. but wait there is more! Moderate rain shower is beginning to add up. Wind gusting 32mph from the west last night at 9:02pm. We had a high of 58°f and a low of 45°f. Barometer dropped to 29.28"Hg then rose to the current 29.50 and now just starting to rise with the rain shower.

Precipitation fell at rate of nearly 4 inches an hour for a short time. (less than 2 minutes) it really came down. One could say it was raining Bears and Mountain Lions. Yesterday the high was 58°f and over night the low was 47°f. The barometer is falling rapidly at 29.50"Hg as the next storm approaches. Max wind gust was 26mph from the west.

Rain is falling, .36" has fallen since midnight. Half of the month is past and we already have had 10.46" of precipitation, averaging just shy of .70" a day. Only 1 day without measurable rain. 41 Wood Ducks are enjoying the rainy weather today on the pond.

Yesterday we had a high of 51°f, and our low 48°f. Max gust 13mph from the east. The pressure has been dropping very slowly, only .19"Hg over the last 22hrs, standing now at 30.13"Hg. Another river of moist air is on its way aimed at Lane county, this guarantees that Linn county will get it's share of the wetness as well.

At observation it had started to rain kind of a drizzly rain, only a trace had fallen, yesterday afternoon the sky let loose a downpour of heavy rain fallen at the rate of 4.00"/hour for about 1-2 minutes but remaining reasonably heavy for about an hour at a lower rate. Barometer was at 30.01 and steady, greatest gust was at 3:13pm as the front pasted.

McCully Mountain had a wild night with 4 hours of strong winds changing back and forth from the east to west at 18 to 27 then the strongest gust at 32mph at 4:03am from the west. Winds are still gusty but calming down. Pressure is now rising fast over the last 17hrs. Now at 29.88"Hg. We had a high yesterday of 52°f, and an overnight low of 44°f. Precip since midnight was .61" Just at dusk, the visible satellite view of the low pressure center just off the southern coast of Oregon showed a tight rapid cyclonic movement headed towards the central coast "UW Weather Graphics loops" satellite image centered on Oregon & Washington. Good thing that it was not a deep low pressure system, the winds could have been Much higher this morning than they were.

This month's total of 17.85" is the wettest October on record going back 33 years. In fact this has been the 7th rainiest month of any month in all those years. The high temperature came late in the month with 65°f on the 26th. No freezing temps so far with the low for the month of 38°f twice on the 12th and 19th. Wind gust max of 32mph, twice on the 13th and 31st. Lowest barometer reading was 29.27"Hg on the 15th. Yesterday's high temp was 54°f and our low was 44°f. Pressure on the barometer today is 29.94"Hg and it has been rising over the last 12 hours.

11/3/2016 7:30 AM 0.00 0.0 M 0.0 M No rain yet today . High thin but thicker overcast this morning. Yesterday 62°f was the high and 42°f the low. No significant wind, max gust 7mph , Barometer is unsteady at 30.27. The front that looked so promising for rain yesterday stalled and disintegrated.

Starting out with just a pinch of snow-grains then freezing rain, mixed snow & freezing rain, sleet (tiny spherical clear balls of frozen rain drops), then finally 2" of real snow. Yesterday the high was 33°f and it dipped to 25°f very early in the morning. Its warmed up to 28°f at observation time. Barometer is at 29.89"Hg and rising. Wind anemometer is frozen at zero but last reading before freezing was 1:00pm, 23mph at 11:00am. Core sample is way off at .70" much of liquid flowed away from the snow board leaving .5" of nearly solid ice and 2" of snow.

The smallest branches of the Alder trees were holding 4 inches or slightly more of snow bending way down so one would need to bend way down to pass under the trees, making the night quite like an eerie Halloween, then the wind came and blew some of the snow off of the trees much still remains this morning. Some snow flurries and heavier showers yesterday left an accumulation of 1.5" of new snow. none since midnight. 1/4/2017 8:25 AM T T T 10.0 1.02 Blowing snow with wind gusts up to 33mph making it hard to figure the catch of the morning, I thought that the more than a few snow grains that had made it into the gauge would measure out to be .01-.04, but the reading of this dry snow was the same that which I had poured into the gauge to melt the snow grains that made it into gauge. It was like I was in Minot, North Dakota. Only the temperature was slightly different, instead of McCully Mountain's low of 23°f, it would have been -23°f below zero. Our high was a warm 27°f in comparison to Minot, ND. Barometer is 29.95"Hg and rising. Max wind gust was 33mph from the Northeast.

Even the newest core sample taken today is exactly the same SWE as yesterday's at 1.76". Still 8" of snow on the ground. High temp 35°f was slightly higher but I question its accuracy. Not a flake of snow fell off the trees or melted in the shade yesterday. The moment the shade returned to the temperature housing, the temp fell to 25°f. The low overnight was 23°f. Max wind gust 15mph from the northeast. Barometer still high at 30.29"Hg with a slight trend downwards over the last 4 hours.

Hopefully we do not get all the rain they are predicting, 5", but at least we have some milder conditions on the way. Then more snow next weekend for the foothills. We'll see.

Wind is quite blustery gusting to 28mph from the southwest. Barometric pressure is still trending downward at 29.45"Hg. Yesterday the high temp was 49°f at midnight, simultaneously became the low this morning at 49°f. Current temp 53°f.

Pressure had fallen to 29.41"Hg overnight. At 3:50 am a Max wind gust 30mph from the southwest was recorded. It looks like it will continue to warm a little bit. So that maybe the end of the snow for today. Maybe the snow will return later in the week.

Mostly dry today with a chance of a possible snow or hail shower in the afternoon. From the radar it appears that snow is on the way trying to make a valley crossing. The question is will they make it to the foothills and McCully Mountain? Hope so.

Days with precip 24 of 28. 10 of those day were with some sort of snow and 17 days with rain. max depth of snow was 4 inches............ Snow turned to rain yesterday with a High temp of 37°f, overnight low of 34°f, and currently 36°f. Barometric pressure is 30.50"Hg. and rising slowly. The winds max gust 15mph from the southwest.

Pressure is rising at 29.92 Clouds started to build up in the afternoon I thought we were in for a thunderstorm last night, but this never developed. thunderstorms stayed to the south. Radar pooped out from Portland, just as thunderstorms were starting to build over Grants Pass. This seems to happen almost every time electrical storms get going to the south of us.

It was actually brighter to the east then it was in the west at the time the sun was setting. The sun light was bright orange in color, reflecting off of the high cirrus clouds to the east towards the west. The McCully Mountain high was 85°f, 51°f was the overnight low. Pressure is at 29.95"Hg and has rising. Blue sky today with cirrus overhead with a possibility of some afternoon build up again. We have been without rain for 39 days.

There is a very slim chance of a late afternoon or evening thundershower, and it is currently raining to the south at Crater Lake 100 miles south of McCully Mountain.

Thunder,lightning, and IT RAINED YEAH. I laid flat on the ground to be cooled by the drops coming down at last. While lightning flashed directly overhead, it was refreshing and exhilarating at the same time. Altocumulus clouds are present this morning in an overcast sky with breaks. We are expecting a totality of approaching 2.0 minutes of totality, at a little after 10am this morning. Yeah!!!!! The weather today has started out the day with not a cloud in the sky. Yesterday high temperature was 79°f, the over night low was 47°f Expect the today to 100% sunshine minus 1 very anticipated eclipse. I have waited 38 years for this day, Let the show begin. YES.
8/22/2017 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M 0.0 M The eclipse topped my expectations, I was Dancing around like a 7 year old kid looking around to see everything I could. Looking up, Venus was easily seen. Stellar's jays were making a racket, and bumble bees were taking a morning rest from working in the flower garden, landing on the outside wall of the house until the sun returned. The temperature dipped from 64°f to about 57°f. The eclipse lasted about 2 minutes, but I failed to start the stop watch immediately when totality started, even so the stop watch recorded 1 minute and forty seconds. even after dancing around for 15 seconds or so. Totality did not last long enough to take everything in. I now plan now to go to the next U.S. eclipse in Texas to New England on April 8th 2024. McCully Mountain high was 82°f, the low overnight was 55°f. Barometric pressure at 30.01"Hg. Max wind gust 12mph from the West. Today so far the sky is on the smokey side of clear.

We also had a thunderstorm on August 10th.

The clouds went around us here on McCully Mountain. High temperature was 82°f and an overnight low of 57°f. Max wind gust was 16mph from the west, the wind was nice and refreshing. as the temperature fell approximately 10°f. Barometric pressure is at 29.92"Hg and steady this morning. Rain is expected but not for a while, maybe tomorrow.

9/13/2017 7:35 AM 0.00 0.0 M 0.0 M Finally smoke had cleared out for a couple of days, being pushed over the cascades by the prevailing winds, But still HEAVY THICK SMOKE filled the air over McCully Mountain in the afternoon not from forest fires but grass seed field burning in the eastern Willamette valley. The smoke hung in the air till after dark. Our high temperature was 83°f and an overnight low of 43°f. Max wind gust was 13mph from the west, Barometric pressure is at 29.94"Hg This morning we have a mostly clear sky with a bit of thin cirrostratus.

West wind helped to reduced the smoke in the air in the afternoon. Barometric pressure is at 29.97"Hg and falling. Thick smoke has appeared to return again to McCully Mountain this morning sky is obscured.

Max wind gust was 18mph from the west, Pressure is at 29.85"Hg and steady. Cloud cover this morning is fair weather cumulus with breaks in the overcast. Radar indicates that stronger rain showers are incoming from the coast. Good to see the rains return again after 93 days with no significant rain.

Lost power and it came back on at 3:30 am, also had one clap of thunder about the time we lost power. There are more showers on the way for today. (first snow of the year at Crater Lake National Park)

12/11/2016 3:25 PM Hail started at above time with approximately 1/4" size stones spread-out by a foot or more. I did not measure precisely, but I am an excellent judge of size, both mm, cm, m, inches, and feet, etc. Hail began to fall only for a few seconds then some rain fell, again hail began to fall and continued to fall until the grass was turning white, after about 5 minutes rain returned. Then more hail. Some individual stones were sticking to one another in groups of four making the group 4 stones about 3/8" large. When the temperature dropped to 34°f it began to snow shortly there after. The storm was preceded by thunder towards the northwest of McCully Mountain. Most likely over Silver Falls State Park, the next ridge to the north of us. The thunder and our hail storm were connected by the same line of clouds that the thunder was heard from the previous hour. The sky grew very dark prior to the hail falling.
