It is currently 41 degrees Fahrenheit. The sky is mostly clear, although there is a thick layer of cumulus covering the mountains to the south southwest. We received the first 0.17 inches in the first twelve hours and the following 30 during the second. The next wave of clouds are coming in quite quickly which I assume is the outer edges of the expected typhoon.
9:00 AM:
Given the reports for the incoming storm out on the coast, I'm going to try to report on changes here at my station, in the center of the state, as they happen. It may help to forewarn others further inland including aircraft and the like of such changes.
As of now, 8:54 AM, we have the slightest of drizzles. The sky is 98% covered. Clouds are moving in a Northeast by northerly direction, and the Cascades, as far as I can see, have been immersed within them. The temperature has risen to 47 degrees Fahrenheit since my first report at 7:00 AM.
11:22 Quick update;Still mostly cloudy but calm with patches of sunlight peering though. The clouds are still cruising past. At some point, I caught 0.02 inches of rain. The temperature has risen to 52 degrees Fahrenheit.
1:32pm About twenty minutes ago we picked up a breeze moving at no more than a mile or two an hour, and the temp is now 63 degrees Fahrenheit. Everything else is much the same.
3:53pm We are clouding back up here. temp is 64 degrees Fahrenheit. No further precipitation so far, and no wind. very still actually. Perhaps the calm before....

The rain here has turned to snow sometime in the last half hour. It is not yet sticking. The current temperature is 33 degrees Fahrenheit. Visibility to the Southwest is 1/4 mile while to the Northeast, 1/2 mile. Air flow is calm, and the snow descends straight down.
We are encapsulated in a thick fog, but I live in a ravine which may be the lowest point in the valley. It hasn't yet dropped enough to include us.

My nieces pretty well tore everything up besides the few areas I cordoned off as my own for measurements. It's 42 degrees this morning with the range of visibility in both directions at ten miles. My thermometer claims the RH to be 68%, but I'm feeling as if it may not be accurately measuring it. I've ordered a different tool to measure windspeed relative humidity from Amazon. I'm hoping to receive it the beginning of next week.
We have cloudy skies; however, the sunlight has managed to slip through a thin layer of cumulus, and a slight breeze wafts through the budding trees.
In-so-far as flooding goes, our creek rose as high as the level of our walkway to it by late afternoon but has since lowered three inches. That doesn't change anything from my report yesterday in consideration of those around us. |

Squilchuck creek has never been higher than today. It has climbed six inches up our back walkway to the creek. It has also worked its way over the retaining wall I built the last year we had significant flooding. I'll gladly send you pictures if you want or provide any other information you may require. Bear in mind that flooding in this valley is nothing like what we are seeing elsewhere in the world right now. It will seem almost ridiculous by comparison. But it is the worst I've seen in two decades.
