Observation Date Observation Time Precipitation Snowfall Snowfall SWE Snow Depth Snow SWE Notes
10/3/2017 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M coldest night since last April with a low of 44F.
10/9/2017 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Low this morning was 55F. Smoky conditions earlier during the early morning hours has diminished to hardly noticeable (like the wind has) as of now (8:10am). Dew point dropped to the low 20's early this morning (now 28F as of 8:10am)
10/17/2017 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M some scat mid clouds, also smoky skies towards the west, low was 49F warmer once again on the hilltops above the edge of the valley (60's for low there) indicating that temperature inversion with the high pressure above us. Rain total so far this season (since July 1st) is "trace". We normally would have maybe close to an inch by now.
10/19/2017 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Time to wash the dirt out of the funnel and inner tube today in time for our seasons first measurable rain later on. Low this morning 52F.
10/20/2017 7:00 AM 0.12 M M M M Probably an undercatch due to nearby trees and high wind combination. As the front crossed over it brought a gust of wind 40plus mph along with a sudden drop in dew point-air temp and wind shift besides the downpour prior to 1am
10/27/2017 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M high yesterday here at the station yesterday was 87F (88 SAC, 87 SMF) which tied for the record for the date which was 87F back in 2003 (both SAC and SMF had 91F on that date in 2003)
11/7/2017 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M first 30's of the year with a low of 39F.
11/14/2017 7:00 AM 0.05 M M M M
11/18/2017 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M It was as frigid as the ex last night with a low of 38F, the coldest so far this season (Our first 38 degrees came a little later than usual this year)
11/21/2017 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M
11/23/2017 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Low was 52F warm degrees compared to 36F last thanksgiving. Yikes, it looks like the warmest Thanksgiving ever in Los Angeles today, in the 90's.
11/24/2017 7:00 AM T M M M M sprinkles in the afternoon yesterday, nothing in gauge itself.
12/3/2017 7:00 AM 0.03 M M M M overnight showers.
12/20/2017 7:00 AM 0.09 M M M M overnight rain, nearby trees may have caused a slightly smaller catch in gauge. Rainfall so far this season has been skimpy.
1/4/2018 7:00 AM 0.43 M M M M
1/6/2018 7:00 AM 0.40 M M M M .40" and storm total as well, .43" from the storm a couple days ago...My average/typical storm total here (if all of the storms of the past were averaged up) is .44" (vs. .38" downtown sacramento). So these were pretty average typical storms. (note: downtown sac rainfall data comes from tipping bucket rain gauge)
1/15/2018 7:00 AM T 0.0 M M M mist/L driz observed yesterday morning. Also mist/L driz observerd this morning after obs and outright foggy. Nothing in rain gauge and ground remained dry yesterday and today.
1/16/2018 7:30 AM 0.11 M M M M
1/19/2018 7:00 AM 0.18 M M M M some rainfall yesterday evening and last night. Much lower rain total than the big storm we had here last week which brought 3.78" here.
1/22/2018 9:30 AM 0.28 M M M M
1/23/2018 9:30 AM 0.04 M M M M drizzle at times yesterday.
1/25/2018 9:30 AM 0.19 M M M M
1/26/2018 7:00 AM 0.16 M M M M
2/5/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Yet another record max temp day yesterday (had several lately) with mercury around 73F last couple of days. low this AM was 44F (down 2 deg from previous 24hrs ago). Still no 32 freezing weather all winter!
2/9/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 73F yesterday in the shade, for the 3rd day in a row. This will be the 8th day in a row of 70 plus degree weather, unheard of in February. Normal high is in the upper 50's. Every night this month the low has been either 44, 45 or 46 degrees (44 last night). 73F is our highest shade temp so far this past week.
2/10/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M once again, the high temperature yesterday in the shade was 73F...fourth day in a row with a 73 degree high! low once again was 44F (3rd night in a row). Each day a record high has been broken for the past week.
2/19/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Low was 32F, finally our first 32 deg of the winter, thought we would go a whole winter without a freeze (which would have been a first I believe). A few of the normally cold spots around town did get down to as low as the mid 20's.
2/20/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M low was 28F, coldest of the winter and record low for date. Yesterday low was 31F not 32F that I wrote down yesterday...thermometer was off 1 degree in the 30 degree range, been corrected. Lows was a cold as 21F in some cold spots in the ne suburbs of Sacramento
2/23/2018 7:00 AM 0.12 M M M M showers and small hail mix yesterday aft.
2/27/2018 7:00 AM 1.00 M M M M exactly 1 inch of rain, although given nearby trees and wind combination could be actually more. We missed the hail show here, not the 2 or 3 inches of hail that fell in around downtown sac, north natomas, north highlands areas. Sharp temperature drop to 38F yesterday afternoon in those hail areas. Funnel clouds around SMF (our local tornado alley so it seems). Most of the thunder was off in a distance.
3/1/2018 6:30 AM 0.58 M M M M Data from a wedge rain gauge placed away from trees. 4 inch gauge read .49" which im sure was a result of winds and too close to trees.
3/2/2018 8:00 AM 1.08 M M M M the amount that's recorded is from a wedge gauge that's more out in the open away from trees. Cocorahs 4 inch gauge recorded about 20% less rain due to 50+ mph winds we had during storm and nearby trees which rain shadowed gauge.
3/3/2018 7:00 AM 0.30 M M M M .30" of rain in both the cocorahs and wedge rain gauge from showers yesterday, heavy at one point. I heard a low rumble of distant thunder towards the west yesterday afternoon coming from yolo county about 15 miles away from here past West Sacramento. I probably would not have been able to hear it indoors.
3/4/2018 7:00 AM 0.14 M M M M Afternoon shower and hail mixture, also evening shower(s) too. Lightning strikes around SMF, but none in our neck of the woods.
3/8/2018 9:00 AM 0.14 M M M M precip overnight. High yesterday was 72F, low this morning 51F
3/13/2018 7:20 AM 0.10 M M M M sprinkles at obs time. Overnight showers. Warm 77F yesterday in the shade. (warmest this yr so far)
3/14/2018 7:15 AM 0.89 M M M M
3/15/2018 7:00 AM 0.08 M M M M Showers. Thunder last evening.
3/16/2018 7:30 AM 0.70 M M M M
3/17/2018 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M Hard to tell if it was a "T" or ".01"...so I went with the .01".
3/21/2018 7:10 AM 0.99 M M M M Sprinkling at obs. Most fell overnite.

4/7/2018 7:00 AM 1.21 M M M M Being a klutz, I dropped the rain gauge during measurement this morning so the 1.21" is off of the less reliable rain gauge that is near trees which rain shawdowed the gauge. Based on wind profiles yesterday and today the actual total is probably .10" to .20" higher than indicated.

4/16/2018 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M Trace of rain before midnite (sprinkles); exactly .01" after midnite. The trace of rain that occurred before midnite was the cold front, yes a mostly dry front at this location, although measurable rain did fall from the front in the Citrus Heights, Roseville, Folsom areas.
4/17/2018 7:00 AM 0.32 M M M M Showers and thunderstorms in the morning, and more thunder and showers in the aft. None of the thunder/lightning was close I believe. We got .22" from the morning shower/thunder, and about .07" from the afternoon one (additional .03" after that). Of note, the thunderstorm hit hard in downtown/east sac areas in the afternoon with maybe like around 1/2" to 3/4". The morning thunderstorm dumped like up to around 1/2" in the town and country area of sac.
