7/5/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M At 4:30 this morning the sky was perfectly clear with a bright half-moon shining and stars everywhere. When next I checked out the window, fog filled the sky. Interesting. Our warm and dry weather continues. Cool afternoon breezes have kept the area very comfortable. Plants in the open spaces have fully entered their summer drought-resisting phase but still the mid to late summer bloomers, even in the chaparral, are doing very well and offer blooms to the careful looker.
7/6/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Today started out bright and clear--no morning marine layer. It is almost 4 in the afternoon at this point and the outside temperature at my house is 108°. The temperature was holding steady at about 100 degrees for several hours and then, when normally the afternoons breeze might start, the temperature has gone up quite suddenly. 108 is pretty hot for here.

In my inland area, thunderstorms have not materialized although they may happen over the mountains. Nights are cool enough to be refreshing and a fan is replacing air conditioning.
