7/24/2018 7:00 AM 2.01 M M M M Wow, that was quite an experience. Afternoon showers brought .06 of precipitation (read at 3:00pm) Intermittent light rain from 3pm-4pm. After 4pm, things changed very quickly. Wind gusts of 50-60mph, heavy blowing rain, visibility of 200-300', small pea size hail. I have never seen a storm like this in my 6 years at this location. Minor flooding and leaks in the unfinished basement, yard flooding. NWS weather spotter report was made during the height of the storm at 4:40pm. Measured rain gauge at 5:10pm, 1.36" from the main storm. An additional .59" fell after and into the late evening hours.

8/7/2018 7:00 AM 1.35 M M M M Shortly before 2pm yesterday, we walked outside to take a look at the weather before leaving the house. I had seen a small concentrated cell moving towards COS and was aware of the severe weather warning. What we heard was nothing like anything we had experienced before. It was a wall of white that most people must have mistaken for heavy rain, except that it "roared". It was like a noise like no other. We realized it was a wall of hail and moved a few plants in and then it hit. We immediately observed ping ball and golf ball sized hail in the first min, 3 min into it we had baseball sized hail. I called into the NWS PUB immediately to make my spotter report. It was insanity. Hail lasted for more than 15 minutes. All trees sustained major damage. We have a 21 solar panel array, all but 4 panels are worthless now with solar panel glass covering our driveway. Damage to one sliding patio door at ground level, minor flooding into the house. All of our gutters and down spouts are worthless (came apart at the seams, severely dented, water was just gushing everywhere). Major yard flooding, neighbors who had skylights, no longer have them. All tile roofs in the neighborhood severely damaged, asphalt shingles also damaged. Thank our lucky stars for our stone coated steel roof. Once it was safe, the neighborhood pulled together to get things covered up with tarps and plywood. Nothing like a disaster to pull people together. After 6pm, the rain finally stopped and there was a rainbow. Initial storm brought .66" of precip. Collected large hail stones, most measures 2.5"-3.5".
