Convective activity yesterday afternoon. Rain began at 2:22 with one clap of thunder. Small 1/8" hail started at 2:24 for about 10 seconds. Rain ended at 2:28. Second more intense event began at 2:30 with larger hail up to 1/2" which ended at 2:40. Last event began as light rain at 4:22 with thunder which ended at 5:00. North wind increased at 4:44 with frontal passage. After all of that only a trace of precipitation. Significant wx event logged. Very light snow showers continued after observation yesterday. At 10:44am, snow intensity increased to moderate snow with visibility 1/2 mile until noon then decreased to light snow. Measured snow on snow board at 12:20pm at 0.3". At 12:56pm light snow subsided to snow flurries with brighter skies for the next 3 hours. After observation yesterday, precipitation intensity slowly increased. Light rain changed to snow or a mixture of rain/snow several times between 7:21am and 9:25am. Heaviest was around 7:55am and 7:57am. Large snowflakes were observed at 9:25 some as large as 1/2". Filtered sunlight was then observed until precipitation slowly ended as very light rain/snow during 10:00 and 11:00am hours. All frozen precipitation that contacted surfaces melted instantly. Temperature dropped from 41F at observation time to 36F within 20 minutes and stayed at 36F during remainder of precipitation event. Cumulonimbus development began late afternoon yesterday. 1st thunder at 5:40, light rain began 5:42, 2nd thunder at 5:43, 5:50 light rain intensified to rain with larger raindrops. Rain ended at 6:00 and no outflow was observed. Second precipitation event started around 6:10 as very large widely scattered rain drops mixing with soft ice at 6:20-6:25 ending by 6:35. When these raindrops hit the patio they made a wet mark 3-4 inches in diameter. Steady wind from the north during 2nd event and end time is reasonably accurate.
