Amounts in gauge and snow accumlulation are what I recorded, but not indicitive of what fell and happened. It was raining when I took my gauge reading yesterday AM, and suddenly at 8:15 the rain turned to snow. It snowed for about 4 or more hours, and when it stopped, it was foggy. There had to be 1 to 2 inches of snow total, as the fields were covered with white snow. What I measured on board was what lasted after the first of it melted. The funnel in gauge had a frozen chunk in its throat, which I melted into what was in the gauge. There is also a heavy frost on the ground this AM. |

Walking thru the snow and hearing it crunch. I wil admit 15 below is a little chilly, but been in worse, -45 in Nebraska. That was so cold it hurt your skin.

At 7AM gauge cylinder was froze fast to the holder on the pole, had to go in and get pan of water to free it. Report is late as let cylinder sit in sink for the ice in it to thaw. Temp at 7AM today was 16 degrees, wind from the north west at 12mph, sky was blue with fluffy clouds scooting. Yesterday at 1PM the temp was 40 degrees and raining. It started snowing late afternoon, and stopped with a trace. Apparently when it started snowing later over night there was some rain first that changed to snow. We started with huge snowflakes that had clear chunks of ice mixed in for an hour, then it changed to grauple, then it snowed again with mixed ice, then it just snowed, drifting down all evening. There was wind with the snow, gusting near 30 at times. The trees are covered with white, and roofs and everthing, it is a wet and heavy snow. And really pretty! |

The temp was above freezing and in the afternoon the snow became very fine and apparently was with rain. When I checked my board to get a measurement in the afternoon it was wet and bare. I assume if it would have stayed we would have had about an inch. This morning there was a dusting on the board, so I am reporting a trace, and the catch in the gauge, which was a bit of snow and layer of ice. It is frustrating to know there is a amount of snow that fell and melted shortly after. |

Have had over an inch of nice rain now, and the grass and . plants are springing up so fast you can practically see it. In April we had little moisture, counting the rain and moisture from snow melt, there was only about 1.25 inches of moisture, and March wasn't much better, very dry spring. |
