By melt/tube measurement liquid equivalent was 0.79". There was 0.1" ice accretion on surfaces. I was able to obtain a core sample. Snow was significantly deeper before rain/freezing rain melted it down. Heated Davis VP2 measures 0.62". Rangefinder depth is 0.59" (ice/snow). SWE by weighing method. Significant variation in depth due to wind drifting. Normal depth measurement area is in the 8-10" range, average of 9" which is what is being reported. Snowboard area is somewhat lower in depth. Rangefinder target area is less being closer to the house/deck. Rangefinder shows only 1.89" which is less than prevailing areas. VP2 shows melted equivalent of 0.19", but this very fluffy snow probably evaporated a lot due to the heater. (this is typical for this type of snow). For consistency from day-to-day, 11" is what I a reporting, with the drifting caveat. Snowboard depth is consistently 8.5". Heated Davis VP2 indicates 0.59"; Novalynx is unheated and will not record this precipitation until it melts. (it is currently 0.03"); Snow start time noted at around 6:10 PM last evening. Hydreon recorded 6:05 PM. Rangefinder depth is 1.46", note that this is in a wind scoured area and is very low compared to surrounding areas. (my yard is small and congested and the measuring areas are not within guidelines for spacing from buildings) |

SWE by weighing method. Liquid measurement after melt was 0.18". Snowboard has 2.5" and deepest drift is 25". I am not going to report this in the entries since most of the precipitation in the gauge was sleet and the vast majority of the snowboard and drift are due to wind driven snow already fallen. The sleet pellets were clearly visible when I had the outer cylinder in the snow melter. Sleet is ongoing at observation time. |

SWE by weighing method. Considerable drifting of snow due to winds. I am not going to report "New Snowfall" or "Total" due to uncertainty of the depths. Snow collected on snowboard was 7". Core sample was very wet and heavy from the snowboard and totaled 3.51" (SWE!). From attempting to shovel this, it is very wet and heavy overall. Majority of the precipitation was in the form of sleet and lasted almost all day and into the night. Light snow at observation time. Davis VP2 (heated) TBR shows 1.05" for the 24 hour period. (NovaLynx is unheated and is full of snow). Rangefinder is showing 1.14" depth, but as noted before, this is in a wind scoured area and is one of the low spots. |

SWE by weighing method. Once again, measurements are difficult due to drifting. Gauge catch vs. Davis heated VP2 TBR compare reasonable well. VP2=0.48"; NovaLynx=0.12 but this is unheated and the cone is full of snow. Overall depth taken over a variety of locations that were not affected as much by wind drifting or snowblower action. Readings were 5, 8, 13, and 15 including some in front yard. These average out to 10.25", rounding it to 10.5". There was little wind comparatively so the Rangefinder depth of 8.11" seems OK. Subtracting out yesterday's measurement on the URF of 1.14" results in new snow of 6.97". Snowboard stick measurement is influenced by drifting somewhat and came out to about 8". I am reporting 7" based on the rangefinder. The gauge catch had about 3/4" of ice frozen in the bottom, so it was liquid prior to freezing. Keep these comments in mind when interpreting the data. |

Depth estimated from snow-stick permanently in ground. this area is reasonably representative and is not a drift or wind-scoured area.
I left snow depths as NA for the 4/15 and 4/16 dates. As a side note, I added the commented values (I did measure it, but drifting was severe) together for 4/14 through 4/17. This total ESTIMATED snow adds up to 25" for the entire storm. |
