A very strong thunderstorm moved through after 6p...at least I got to see the Preakness even if the satellite signal failed to deliver the subsequent commentary. This cell included high winds and heavy rain and added another half inch or so to the gauge. The remaining precip came between 6-7 this morning. Wind not nearly as significant but rainfall heavy, to the point of overwhelming gutters (need to check for accumulations of oak catkins). Had a brief lull in the rain at 7 so was able to check the gauge in a timely manner.

This one stripped pawpaw fruit from trees and snapped one pawpaw tree ~3" in diameter...one with very promising fruit. Fortunately, it will likely resprout from the root and I'll get another chance to evaluate it in a couple of years.
