I did report last night to rah.reports(NWS): We have received sleet, or at least something that accumulated on the windshield at 5pm - having melted and run  down windshield, accumulating in that well at the bottom of windshield. Note that car had been parked since ~ 1pm. Coming back from 2-3 hour birthday party on Walnut Street, only smattering of sleet still there, though some also on the tarmac of parking lot. Husband said on his vehicle as well, in N Raleigh, 6pm. (parked since 8am ish.) No current accumulation on ground.i don't remember seeing any in the yard. Heck I biked to library at 230pm, in light drizzle (right, not best decision but oh well, clearly not too cold).

Such is life. here is the email that I sent to rah.reports@noaa.gov on Thursday 18 Jan 2018: No precipitation yesterday (Wednesday) 900. Started sometime around 930, maybe 1000. Accumulation began around 1100; see photo below, time stamped 1108. Other photos from today, Thursday 18th, around 830am. Just over 4" accumulation ON OUTDOOR FURNITURE (ie, metal/wood and elevated, so colder). Cocorahs gauge snowed over and frozen, so I can't bring inside to melt and measure. Yet.

At 1030pm when I emptied the rain gauge, there was 1.16" and it was still raining. i didn't go back or to check last night, but it was still raining, hard, at 11. thankful that we got rain to knock back the pollen and soften up the ground but had wanted a bit less, and gentler. no rain in forecast for next week.
