Flash flood rain started at 6:30 PM and was preceded by increasing loud thunder. After 30 minutes of rain, water more than 5 inches deep was observed in a parking lot spiraling down in vortex through a parking lot storm drain as cars were having difficulty moving through. The rain water in the road measured 4.5 inches deep at 7 PM. At that time creek waters were observed to have risen from stagnant shallow to quickly flowing but remained within their respective bank boundaries at 7 PM. (I've never been at that location {Bethany Village shopping mall} during a flash flood before so am uncertain if this is unusual for that location, 1/2 mile from my usual rain gauge observation location), |

Daylight observations yesterday show the creek obviously flooded Wednesday night but little standing water remains and the water was within the banks again yesterday. Redistribution of sediment, leaves, pine straw and bent over shore grasses/shrubbery indicate unusual flooding recently occurred. Some drain grates were 100% obstructed by the leaves and debris following the recent rains. |

Creek water level is currently approximately 6 feet below foot bridge. Very fine aerosol particles seen suspended and slowly descending beneath streetlamps in some locations.
