Alert from EMS at 7:57PM of pending gust front with severe weather. Lightning to the west sighted around 30 mins later and winds started. Rumbles of thunder, lightning and large droplets of rain just before midnight followed by sheets of rains and high winds within minutes. The thunder and lightning with light rain continued until almost 3AM. Could not collect hourly due to lightning in area and darkness prohibiting viewing gauge from house. |

The news has been promoting the "winter event" we were supposed to get as a strong front was to move through in the afternoon. The wind kicked up early afternoon. Around three, it changed from coming in from the south to the north. Light furniture was blowing around and flags out straight. Temps in high 40s. Rain had been forecast for yesterday and they sure weren't kidding!! Light showers arrived at 11AM and were intermittent until 4PM leaving .20. Then the big stuff arrived. Very dark skies in the west and rolling thunder. Intermittent downpours continued until 9:40PM -- emptied gauge again - 3.25". We got several alerts for flash flooding with times extended throughout the night. By now, cul de sac was under water and reports of 2 homes flooded in north part of subdivision. Rain continued and so steady, our dogs refused to go out for nightly duties. At 2:30 AM, one decided light rain was fine so rubber boots back on -- gauge had 1:18". At 6:50AM, other dog out and another .13" in gauge. At collection time 8AM, another .02. Total since 8AM yesterday - 4.78. Just puddles left in cul de sac and sprinkling at collection time. |
