Hazardous air quality yesterday through this morning with AQI polution index at 444...highest ever recorded for this town i believe. Visibility was down to 1/2 mile in smoke yesterday afternoon...smoke came from that big butte co fire..people burning their fireplaces last night didnt help matters any. Low was 32F this AM coldest thus far this season. |

rain last nite.. raining buckets early this morning like around 215am and beyond...then one of those bright red spots on radar crossed right over us at 245am pouring one of the loudest, and heaviest rain I can ever remember on us (probably comparable to the all time record 1/2" in 5 minutes a few years back), then stopped raining shortly after that. cloudy at obs time but no rain. |

Warmed up to 63F yesterday (several degrees higher than prediction) which was a recipe for convection. Got some shower activity later in the afternoon and into the night, with thunder a little past 6pm (strike was over the arden arcade area). The great majaority of the rain total fell from the cell associated with the thunderstorm which it started raining hard shortly after hearing the thunder. |

mercury reached 104F yesterday (SAC 100, SMF 103), hottest day of yr so far. At 5pm it was down to 94F and cooling at ex apt (SAC) but at the other side of town were we are it was 103F here, and still warming, in fact, it warmed to 104 later during the 5pm hour before the delta sea breeze reached us later with the sudden jump in dew points and cooler breeze. |

thunderstorms (some loud) and heavy rain at times. first thunderclap was at 6:25pm, half hour later rain and thunder let up with .30", just as soon as you think it was over, more heavy rain and thunder. It ended during the 8pm hour I believe. At the start of it there was a BIG gust of wind (maybe 30 or 40mph out of the north or nw, sly previously I believe). By contrast only a trace of rain fell in south sacramento. There was a tornado 15 miles west of here (just north of Davis) |
