Rain started at 3:15 pm, heavy at times, changed to a blustery wet snow at 6:54 pm. We had winds gusting to 50 km out of the east most of the evening. At 9:00 pm I recorded 8.2 mm rain and snow. At 21:30 I recorded 2.3 cm wet snow. Temperature at 21:30 was 0 degrees Celsius. At midnight (12:30 am) last night the temp was back up to +2 C with mostly rain, some snow. |

Heavy wet snow all day and into the night. Water was dripping down everything from under the snow. Ground water is moving into ditches along side roadways just outside the city to the west. In conversation with the local folks, they are very concerned about the effect of the changing weather. I arrived there on July 7, 2019 and for 6 weeks prior to that Rekjavik had sunshine with temps ranging from 16 to 22 degrees Celsius during the daytime and 7 to 12 degrees Celsius during night time hours. During the 2 weeks I was there, the sunshine and warm temps continued with only 1 day of rain. Normally they get cool cloudy weather and lots of rain this time of year. Thought I'd share that little tidbit of info for those on CoCoRaHS. |

Observation time: 07:00 hrs. Current temp 6 C, very light winds out of the north east, light fog. Leaves are starting to change colour in my area. Most areas are still green. Normally ground vegetation is vibrant in colour by the middle of September. Usually the middle of September presents with a greater percentage of colour in the standing trees. I'm estimating at least 50%. I have also noticed Tamarack are turning a light colour yellow with stands of deciduous around them still very green. Normally Tamarack are the last to turn. |
