Cold frontal passage at 1850 MDT 13 Oct 2018, with temperature at 55 deg F. R- began 2050 MDT, becoming mixed with snow by 2140 MDT. All snow by 2215 MDT and 31°. Snow began to stick by 2230 MDT. Very small snow crystals but still S-3/4. Steady S- all night, but flakes became larger (dendrites) as temperature dropped. At obs time, S-3/4, 21° (minimum so far) accumulation 7.8", pcpn .51". Despite temperature, snow was not freezing on previously warm pavement but was sticking in spots. |

Snow in progress at start of observing period, continued all morning as S-, occasionally S. Crystal habit changed to dendrites after 0930 MST 11 Nov 2018, after which snow was fluffier. Secondary push of cold air arrived ~1240 MST with brief episode of NE wind 8-14, and snow blowing off trees. At 1300 MST S½, 24°, minimum temperature so far, and light N-NE breeze, 8.6” accumulation, precip since 0700 MST .25". Rain changed to snow between 0700 and 0730 mst and fell moderately during the morning, then more lightly for the rest of the day. S- occasionally mixed with R- midday thru 1430 MST. Temperature never fell below 33 deg F during the day, and so accumulation on the ground was unusually low for the amount of precip falling as snow in January. At 1400 MST, S-1, precip +.39 since 0700 MST, 2.5” accumulation of slushy snow on grass. Daytime max was 37 deg F at 1500 MST. Snow was melting at the surface as it fell. At 2145 MST, S-3/4 33° (min so far 32.5°), calm wind, precipitation +.25 and accumulation +0.8" since 1400 MST. Precip probably ended an hour or so after 0000 MST 12 Jan with +0.03 precip and +0.2" of accumulation. Storm total 0.78" precip, 3.5" snowfall. 3.1" was the max depth on the ground measured at obs time. Snow depth in Boulder was strongly dependent upon elevation with about one inch of additional storm total accumulation for each 100-ft gain in elevation between 5400 ft and 6000 ft elevation. |

Tiny snow grains were falling at the start of the observing period (0700 MST 06 Feb 2019). Intermittent SG--/SG- thru 1015 MST, then snowfall picked up as a
NE-SW band of snow developed over Boulder County with 20-25 dBZ reflectivity. S5/8 by 1110 MST and S+1/4 1120- 1230 MST, as snow fell at the rate of 2”/hour. Mostly S-- after 1230 MST until 1530 MST, when SW1/2 began. At 1545 MST, SW1/2, 15° (minimum so far), 4.0" accumulation, precip .24". Snow slowly tapered off after 1730 MST, becoming very light by 1930 MST. At 2100 MST, S--, 5°, 5.5" accumulation (max measured), precip +.11 since 1545 MST. +.01 fell after 2100 MST for storm total of .36". Min temperature at obs time -8 deg F, coldest in two years.

Steady moderate rain was falling at the start of the observing period. Between 0700 and 0945 MDT 13 Mar 2019, precip was 0.61". Rain changed to wet snow at 0955 MDT, which fell at moderate intensity until 1145 MDT. Temperature fell to 32° ~1100 MDT and, from then on, snow stuck to all exposed surfaces. Visibility occasionally < 1/4 mile as winds picked up. By 1800 MDT, wind was 350 deg at 15G30 mph. Lull in snowfall from 1145-1315 MDT but then SW½ resumed with less wind until about 1400 MDT, when all snow stopped. Accumulation 3.5". Additional precip since 0945 MDT 0.41", for a 24-h total of 1.02". Severe blizzard in NE Colorado continued until evening, mostly east of I-25, with some wind gusts in the 70-80 mph range. |

Light drizzle in progress at start of observation period. Small frozen particles mixed with R- ~0845 MDT 20 May 2019. Occasional periods of light drizzle or light rain during the day. Pavement nearly dried at least once. At 2015 MDT, 35° (minimum temperature so far). Rain changed to wet snow with big flakes in past 10 min. Precip since 0700 MDT 0.36". Snow continued all night with the temperature at 32°. Most trees had leafed out, and the heavy wet snow broke two branches off our flowering crab and two off our silver maple. Measurable snow ended by 0500 MDT, and S-- ended by 0615 MDT. At obs time (0700 MDT 21 May), 5.5” accumulation on the grass and 4.0” on the snowboard. The latter value is reported here. Precip since 2015 MDT 20 May +.66" for a 24-h total of 1.02".
