The sun came out briefly around 1:00 PM. yesterday and temp. climbed to 28 degrees and the snow melted a little in sunny reflective areas . This AM. close to 6:40 AM. the temp. briefly dropped to 12.0 degrees . I went out and did a core sample in a protected area roughly 20' X 20' were it measured 3.5" to 3.75" and picked the 3.5" spot and measured .25" minus .01" for small amount of small short dead grass . I have 2 gauges out both minus the insides 1 slightly more protected , near snow pad , than 1 on the edge of our field . The temp. immediately fell to 21 degrees as fog rolled in and humidity outside rose to 96% .
2/28/2019 7:30 AM T T M T M The light , very small and minimal granular snow quit falling close to the 10:30 AM. time period yesterday as fog continued . Still have large areas of snow drifts , several 16" to 20" deep as of last Monday afternoon the 25th , from the Jan. 22 2019 snow storm covering to areas 85' and 90' long averaging 12'to 15' wide on north side of property . Thanks to more recent snow they are white again instead of dirty brown from previous dry windy periods .

3/2/2019 7:30 AM T T M T M A short period of light sprinkles I saw @ 11:36 AM. yesterday . I was then in town until 3:00 PM. but at 5:30 PM. it started snowing lightly for about an hour and only enough to barely dampen the decks . This AM. the decks have a thin slick coating of ice but bare ground not to bad . Did see some small snow flakes imbedded in the ice on a green tarp , very thin ice coating .
3/3/2019 7:30 AM 0.17 3.8 0.20 4.0 0.20 It snowed the very light tiny flakes in the fog all day and around 3:00 PM yesterday we started to get freezing drizzle again and this time everything especially the ground became dangerously slick , I almost fell . Then close to 4:00 or a little after the fog started to lift and close to 4:40 it started to snow . The heavier snow started close or before 6:00 PM. and we by then had just under an inch but by 7:30 PM. we were close to or just under 3" . most snow fell 14 degrees to 8 degrees and it was 0 degrees @ 6:30 AM this morning . The snow measured 3.8" to 4" . 3.8" on the pad and 3.8" to 4" on trailer close to pad .

3/13/2019 7:30 AM 0.23 M M T M Rain started hitting the window 10:56 PM. last night and by 10:58 PM. it was pounding loudly on the roof but by 11:01 PM. it had quit . At 4:30 AM. took dogs out and it was raining again as now . 36 degrees at 6:45 AM. and 34 degrees now .
3/14/2019 7:30 AM 1.10 11.0 M 11.0 M Had to use a double boiler to melt snow in gauge , we have no hot water , pilot light . We are buried under massive drifts of 3' to 4' and very large areas of 5' to 6' or more drifts . I would have to trudge through 50' by 130' of 18" to 3' of snow to try to even get close to large drifts and the house is almost surrounded by 18" to 3' . Most the snow fell at a temp. of 27 to 24 degrees . Snow started mixing with rain @ 8:15 AM. yesterday and turned to all snow by 8:30 AM. then by 9:00 AM. it was coming down hard and by 9:15 AM. the ground was white . The worst winds were closer or before noon @ 47 avg. to 60 gust mph. and I saw a barometric reading of 980 millibars around mid morning or slightly earlier .
3/15/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 0.0 M 10.0 M Not able to do core sample due to snow pad and trailer blown clean. Car in garage will not be used for awhile because at least 6' to over 7' of snow covering 100' plus long drive way to garage much less another part of the driveway to the gate of our field close to another 100' with the same amount of snow . Just barely was able to get to the front door due to 2' to 4' filling in front fenced in yard but got door cleared so it could be opened . It took my wife and I 3.5 hours to clear large drift , 3' to 4' , of snow blocking my truck plus neighbor came over to help . He has lived here since the 80's and said our property was the worst he ever seen . Snow had filled my whole engine compartment of my truck facing south and it had , that I saw , 4 dead sparrows under the hood plus found 4 more dead birds on the property so far . Good thing we have enough propane because it will be a long time before they can access the property , the south end has several large 3' to 4' drifts . That has never happened in the four years since we have been here .
3/16/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 0.0 M 7.0 M The snow drifts have compacted down plus melted some but still too much snow . It should start to melt nicely hopefully in the next few days . Temp. yesterday AM. was 8 degrees with a high of 39 degrees and 19 degrees this AM. One thing I forgot to note about the storm besides both doors to the outside being blocked was the house and other buildings were incased in snow on all four sides from a skiff to 5" . We could not see out of our windows except for a tiny hole to peer through on the east and west side until the evening when temps. got colder and the snow started flaking off . Also venturing out at 1:00 to 3:00 PM. yesterday we could not believe the amount of vehicles still stranded on the roads and in the ditches along Falcon Hwy.-about 13 and Garrett Rd.-about 6 .
3/17/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 0.0 M 4.5 M It's hard to judge how much snow left with all the massive drifts left . The front yard that faces WSW. still is covered with 1.5' to 2' and the driveway 5' to 6' , it was 7' to 8' after walking on top of it , and around the tool shed 2' to 3' and so on . Still yesterday AM. I realized I could have still skied diagonal , starting on 8' drifts , across 3 acres of snow downslope without hitting any dirt or grass . Anybody need some snow ? The high temp. made 45 degrees yesterday and made a dent in the snow , ready to hit some fifties and if it rains in the future it will help more except for the big muddy mess .

Then around 5:40 PM. a light shower of mostly rain with some wet snow mixed in was falling . The air had been relatively dry but was starting to moisten up more . At 8:30 PM. I noticed it was raining with some wet flakes mixed in then by 9:00 PM. it was all wet snow and by 9:30 PM. it was snowing heavier and the ground was turning white . 3/30/2019 7:30 AM 0.20 1.7 0.19 1.5 0.19 I was outside feeding the birds and refreshing their water before 3:30 PM. yesterday and I 1st. heard a rumble of thunder @ 3:35 PM. to the north , had been watching a build up going up fairly high and spreading out . It was part of several along a line running from the NNW. to the NNE. and the storms appeared to be moving ESE. at that time . At 3:40 PM. I heard 2 rumbles of thunder to the NNE. and at the same time I had been watching another build up going up quick to our west to slightly WNW. and thought that one might get close to us . I let the Mrs. know we might get a storm and @ 3:56 PM. I heard more thunder but out of that new storm to our NW. I was finished and heading in when I checked out the storm that appeared to be moving faster than I thought as it was to our north . That is when I thought I saw a funnel cloud and watched for a second then saw it come to a point and lower to the ground just behind the top of my trees , this was @ 4:07 PM. . I quickly took 2 pictures yelled @ the Mrs. and call El Paso county 911 . The Mrs. came out to see it , she is from Nebraska , and after I finished with El Paso sheriff I sent in a comment through this site . By 4:35 PM. It started hail with some light rain , the hail was only bb size at first then pea set in . It hailed about 10 min. and turned the ground white . The hail never quit but had lightened up but picked up again and got the ground whiter . The front came through some time after 5:00 PM. , strong NE. to NNE. winds plus the temp. had been 42 degrees but quickly fell to 37 degrees . Around 5:30 PM. rain and snow pellets fell . This whole time it never really quit precipitating . By 5:45 PM. it was 35 degrees and all snow pellets and started turning the ground white again , the hail had not completely melted . Close to 6:00 PM. it was 33 degrees and the snow pellets were turning and mixing with snow . By 32 degrees it was all snow and large flakes after 6:00 PM. and accumulating .

The winds had turned northly 5 to 12 MPH. just before dark clouds and the temp. when we got up was 52 degrees @ 6:15 AM. but they promptly fell to 42 degrees when clouds to our west started building . After that with still light northerly winds and until roughly 12:00 PM. the temp. varied from that 42 degrees to 37 to 50 to 38 then 37 degrees by the time the hail started @ 12:18 PM. that lasted until 12:28 when it dropped to 34 and eventually 33 degrees when it was all light snow . The hail fell as all hail for 4 minutes with lots of lightning and thunder some close then started mixing a little snow in . The storm came from the SSW. We then fluctuated from 36 to 38 degrees the rest of the day with periodic snow showers . The temp. then started falling lower around 3:00 PM. and we got a steadier really very light snow , tiny flake . 4/27/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M I was in Falcon, Co. at a feed store early afternoon yesterday when a line of storms went through from west to east . Did not here thunder and very little rain but the wind was shaking the metal building , got a little scary , the wind had to be 40+ mph. . It was close to 2:00 PM. . By the time we got back home I noticed the wind was out of the south , not west like in Falcon , and it was avg. 9 mph. . A little later , 3:30 PM. approx. , I was filling bird feeders and cleaning the bird baths I noticed a build up growing steadily just to our west/WNW. and checked the wind which was only avg. 3 to 4 mph. but out of the east to NE. . By 4:52 PM. large rain drops started falling and continued for 40 to 50 min. . It never came down hard but a steady light larger drop , with slightly smaller mixed in , rain fell but with then only a east wind/push at 0 to 3 mph. . Then had to clear humming bird feeders because he was flying directly in front of windows looking in . The heavier precip. started sometime close 9:00 AM. yesterday and lighter fine light rain close to 8:00 AM. The heavier rain had sleet or hail mixed in , at one point it was pea size but most was bb size or smaller but it did turn the ground white on two different occasions . It was 42 degrees at start of rain after AM. low of 30 degrees. There was a lot of fairly close lighting and thunder for about an hour during heavier rain , sleet , and hail in the AM. I did empty and measure rain gauge @ 2:00 PM. yesterday during the break in precip. and it measured .86" . The rain gauge this AM. was full , again like 3/13/19 , with an inch on top but a air gap at 3/4 of full so not sure how accurate . It must of got windier last night for we had lots of 1.5' to 2' with 2 - 2.5' drifts . Need bigger rain gauges out here . It snowed heavy with quarter to half dollar flakes . Low temp. this AM. was 28 degrees but by 6:00 AM. it was 29 degrees and @ 9:48 AM. its now 35 degrees . 5/23/2019 7:30 AM 0.03 M M T T Light rain/sprinkles started some time after 7:00 PM. last night . Still heard some light rain at 9:00 PM. but only saw drizzle this AM. now and @ 6:05 AM. Still have quit a bit of snow around from drifting or falling off roofs and trees. Even a little is still on our house roof . Out in the field still a lot running down the south side of our north fence , more than any storm I have seen before in over 4 yrs.
5/24/2019 7:30 AM T M M T T It was still drizzling for a while after 7:30 AM. yesterday . It then quit for most of the day but started to mist again at dusk .

6/1/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M Close to 5:30 PM. yesterday a steady light rain fell for a about a half hour.
6/2/2019 7:30 AM 0.02 M M M M Started to hear thunder coming from the NW. of us yesterday @ 3:45 PM. and started feeling rain drops about 4:30 PM. The storm that was to our NW. that turned severe as it passed by on the north side of us sent out an out flow , cool and moist , close to 5:00 PM. from the NE. and the clouds really began to build . After that sporadic large drops began to fall until closer to 5:45 a steadier light rain begin to fall then it all moved off by 6:15 PM. Did sound like there was some slush balls mixed in at times .
6/3/2019 7:30 AM 0.02 M M M M I heard lots of thunder, about an hours worth and almost consistent, mostly to our west before the precipitation started and then heard thunder for about a 1/2 hr. after it started but the thunder was to the west and north and also the SE. . Most sounded 5 to 12 miles away at first and then sounded 2 to 5 miles away as rain started but it also started to fade in intensity as it was raining. We had mostly light rain.
6/4/2019 7:30 AM 0.04 M M M M Got home around 3:40 PM. yesterday and it was raining lightly which picked up a little in intensity and lasted for close to 45 minutes or less .
6/5/2019 7:30 AM 0.02 M M M M The clouds started building around us a little after 1:00 PM. yesterday. It started turning dark short time after and I started hearing rumbles of thunder about 1:40 PM. and by 2:00 PM. we had 2 or 3 close cracks of thunder and within a few seconds it started to rain large drops that quickly became half mixed with pea size hail that lasted 2 to 3 min. max. that downsized to bb size and smaller and was more hail than rain . It never came down heavy and did not last long because it moved off quick .
6/6/2019 7:30 AM 0.48 M M M M Around 3:17 PM.yesterday we started to get a few occasional large cold drops of rain, very sporadic, until 3:40 PM. when it started to pound rain lightly mixed with small hail, hail lasted only for a few minutes . By 4:40 PM. we had .48" of rain. The rain stopped shortly after and was very light at its end . About time we got some good moisture again .

6/8/2019 7:30 AM 0.03 M M M M 1st heard thunder @ 4:00 PM. yesterday to our WNW. and by 4:35 PM. I had heard thunder about 4 more times, 3 were to the WNW. to NW. and 2 were to the WSW. one of which I also saw the bolt . It the started raining lightly but with 1 short hard burst @ 4:40 PM. and we continued to have sporadic light showers through the evening with the last I saw starting @ 7:50 PM. yesterday evening .

6/15/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Had some sprinkles around or after 2:00 PM. yesterday , mostly wind, plus close lightning and thunder last night after 10:00 PM. but no rain .
6/16/2019 7:30 AM 0.20 M M M M We were in town , Falcon, shopping around and after noon yesterday and the clouds were building fast and skies turning black and dark especially to the west . It had started raining during our last stop and by the time we got home at 1:30 PM. it had already rained over a tenth of an inch . Then by 6:30 PM. almost another tenth of an inch had fallen.
6/17/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M Heard some booming thunder around 3 PM yesterday to the NW. then by 3:50 PM. it started to rain/sprinkle that and a occasional very light rain sporadically fell for about 3 hrs. with occasional thunder to the NW. and mostly the west and SW.
6/18/2019 9:30 AM 0.18 M M M M Doc appt. was to try check gauge early ran out of time. I checked yesterday early evening after rain and it read .18 " on the low side and @ 9:30 this AM. it was on the high side of .18" so we must of had some very light sprinkles last night. It did not rain while I was gone this AM. per Mrs. she has been outside most AM. Heard lots of thunder shortly before rain, most sounded cloud to cloud then as it started raining fairly hard and large drops we started getting close, within a mile , claps of ground to cloud lightning on our west side and one just on east side, 5 to 6 claps and booming. It even hailed briefly pea @ first then quickly smaller like little pieces of ice but very brief plus it was mostly rain 95%.
6/19/2019 7:30 AM 0.33 M M M M The thunder then rain started sometime around 1:00 PM. or after, yesterday. Close to or before 3:00 PM. the rain gauge read .24" from the first batch of storms. Afterwards the storms appeared to track more south of us as we continued to get lighter rain from their northern peripheries. The first batch of storms had some minor pea and mostly smaller hail in them lightly speckling the ground for a short time , a little more than yesterdays . We continued to have sporadic light showers into the late night gaining another .09" of moisture.
6/20/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 M M M M
6/21/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 M M M M 3 to 4 rounds of storms passed west to east just north of us with sevaral rumbles of thunder with each storm.
6/22/2019 7:30 AM 0.08 M M M M First drops of rain hit me, refill bird feeders and cleaning and refilling bird baths, 4:28 PM.. Then a heavier rain started to fall a few minutes later, cold big drops, and close to 4:50 PM. pea to grape size hail started mixing in at a ratio of 60% hail to 40 rain, but not to heavy of a total rate, and it lasted until 4:58 to 4:59 PM. just enough to speckle the ground. Then it quit everything except for an occasional sprinkle until about 7:25 PM. when we had a short burst of heavy rain and then again about 8:30 PM. another heavy short burst.
6/23/2019 7:30 AM 0.31 M M M M Rain started close to 4:40 PM. yesterday and by 4:50 PM. it was a soaking pounding heavy rain that lasted a little over an half hour. There was 2 to 3 rumbles of thunder at the beginning and no more and no hail. Close to .25" fell in that time period and the rest over night. The low temp. this AM. on my 3 sensors was 39 degrees 5' off the ground in our open field, 39.9 degrees 5' off the ground north side of garage and 40 degrees with anemometer sensor on the roof.
6/24/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Some wind blown sprinkles came through shortly after 3:00 PM. yesterday and lasted for a few minutes.
6/25/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 M M M M
6/26/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M We started getting sprinkles sometime between 12:30 and 1:00 PM. yesterday and continued through at least 3:00 PM. while I was outside working on equipment. The drops got larger towards the end.
6/27/2019 7:00 AM T M M M M Doc. appt. early. Had some sprinkles around 5:00 PM. yesterday.
6/28/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M We had a few passing sprinkles close to 7:30 PM. yesterday. The high yesterday on my 3 senors was, north side of garage @ 5' was 93 degrees, out in open field @ 5' 92 degrees, and on the roof 91 degrees, so I went with 92 hot degrees.
6/29/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M A hot day, one temp. sensor read 96 degrees on the garage roofs edge, and the other two sensors, 5' off the ground, read 94 degrees. The dewpoint for morning into early afternoon ranged between 44 degrees and 41 degrees and later between 36 and 38 degrees. All with a west wind. By mid to late afternoon we had a strong easterly outflow, winds 16mph to 26mph, that the winds lasted for several hours, and the dewpoint jumped to a consistent 44 to 48 degrees, mostly 48, and as the rain started from the storms, lightning had been going off for an hour mostly from the west to NW., the dewpoint jumped to 50 to 51 degrees from close to 10:30 and on. It then started raining a little harder around 11:00 PM last night, with a few quick harder burst, and the lightning and thunder was a lot closer from the SSW. to almost on top of us. This lasted I believe close to at least 45 min. And now @ 8:15 AM. the dewpoint is 50 degrees.
6/30/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M We had some light sprinkles @ 5:15 PM. yesterday, mostly a lot of wind and nice cooling after a high of 93 degrees.
7/1/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Had a few light sprinkles @ 5:11 PM. yesterday and then west wind, 30 mph., driven light rain for about 10 min. shortly after 7:30 PM..
7/2/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Precipitation started after 4:00 PM. yesterday and lasted maybe 45 min. and was mostly a light rain and showery in nature . Earlier in the day around 12:00 PM. it looked like it might rain, a lot of build ups where going up, heard some thunder. It looked like a curved line of storms were forming and the link between the storms to the North and south was forming over us but as they got big enough they moved off to the east and started thundering, we did not get a drop.
7/3/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M Roughly close to 3:15 PM. yesterday storms came by from the west that we were in between and we had light showers for about an hour.
7/4/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 M M M M
7/5/2019 7:30 AM 0.49 M M M M I was in the COS. and saw the clouds forming a there building looked rather healthy and fast and I told my daughter that they were probably headed my way and that we my get some bad weather my way and would need to get home soon. I tried to hurry up and finish what we were doing and largely spaced big cold drops started falling so I left fairly soon following a storm that appeared to head Falcon's way but saw dark bases of storms forming out our way, home . Had large drop moderate rain most of the way down U.S. 24 but as I got closer to Garrett Rd. soft hail was hitting my windshield. As I was driving down Garrett it started hailing fairly hard and then the hail started making loud cracking sounds on the windshield and body of the truck and I was worried. I drove through it and when I got home it appeared to be just starting and the Mrs. said it had , that was @ 3:36 PM. . Hail and rain started coming down harder but @ a close 50/50% mixture, little more rain. The hail @ the time was pea to penny and nickel size and that worried me. My almost new truck had no real cover to park under. The hail had never really mixed in heavier except occasionally and the ground coverage remained speckled white to just about fully covered. Then about 3:57 PM. the hail started getting bigger quickly from quarter size then ping pong size but shortly after the spacing of hail got larger and it started getting smaller and less and turned to all rain, light to moderate, by 4:07 PM. and pretty much quit by 4:25 PM.. My truck, aluminum, came out ok plus I parked under a small ash tree and on the west and north side of out buildings for the wind was out of the east to ESE.. The dewpoint during all this fluctuated between 55 degrees and 58 degrees. This AM. the dewpoint has been a consistent 50 degrees. Rain gauge with the insides in read .44" and without the insides read .49".
7/6/2019 7:30 AM 0.94 M M M M About Thursday hail a minute, it dent my new truck with a few minor dents were I did not protect it well enough plus it killed a pigeon. Last night was crazy the hail was a little deeper than thought, closer to an inch, and it drifted up to 8" to 10" and had trouble getting out back door, still some hail this AM. The dewpoint before storms hit was ranging between 57 and 59 degrees. A storm to our NNW. had almost continuous thunder and sent an outflow through from the north. At that time the severe storm that was to our SW. over Security/Widefield area that was advancing our way became a little dis organized as it got here. The outflow from the north had lowered our dewpoint to 48 degrees quick down from 59 degrees. The outflow reenergized the storm that came from the SW. and our dewpoint jumped back up to 51 to 54 degrees plus the wind started to become more easterly again. I had been watching the storm from the SW. and part of it was just on our east side and turning black but it moved off to the ENE. . Part of the SW. storm I was watching was just to our SW. and had not moved for about ten minutes and just kept turning darker, then it just started pounding as it moved over head. Most of our rain/hail fell in 9 min. then backed off. I waited for it to calm down from the showery weather after the main show @ 8:30 PM. to check the gauge and it read .91" without the insides of the gauge and .69" with the insides of the gauge. We would had some flooding problems if it had not been for hail. At least the hail did not get over a half inch in size. Our trees from the last 2yrs. and now are never going to recover. I do not remember seeing so much hail except for the earlier years I moved to this state, Denver, in 1986.
7/7/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Had some sprinkles/light rain 8:16 to 8:21 AM. yesterday and 5:30 PM. for a short time.
7/8/2019 7:15 AM 0.01 M M M M Had light rain at 7:34 last night for 10 minutes or more and had some later in evening.
7/9/2019 7:30 AM 0.21 M M M M The 1st. drops of rain started after 3:00 PM. yesterday and the heavier rain started after 3:45 PM. . As the heavy rain moved in there was a lot of intense cloud to ground/ground to cloud lightning just to our SE., SW. and one that went from almost overhead on our west side to very close to our northeastern corner of our property. The rain/storms lasted about 45 min. to an hour.

7/12/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 M M M M Thought I was back in Alabama yesterday mid morning with a dewpoint of 65 degrees.
7/13/2019 7:30 AM 0.12 M M M M The storm developed fairly fast just to our NNW. and it got dark out. Then a few sprinkles as it kept getting darker and the wind picked up. About 8 to 10 min. later big drop started falling hard and fast then small bb size hail mixed in for no more than 5 min. . It continued to rain hard with 30 mph. winds for 20 min. . Then rain turned to more of a moderate to at times light rain for another 15 to 20 min. with west winds gusting to 45 mph. that blew out a large branch on a 30' elm tree.
7/14/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Light rain or sprinkles started at 7:30 PM. last night and continued on and off through 9:00 PM. and beyond. Heard thunder around for a while before and after 9:00 PM.
7/15/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M Light rain started around 6:56 PM. and lasted just a few minutes. It started again for a few minutes around 8:00 PM. yesterday. There was also a few light spits/sprinkles from top of thunderstorm that started building up almost over us just to our NNE. around 2:00 PM., it moved off to the ENE. and became part of a line of storms, complex, on our north and NE. side of us.
7/16/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M We had widely scattered light showers/sprinkles from close to 2:00 PM. through the evening.
7/17/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M We had a few brief light sprinkles yesterday around 7:00 PM.. Close to 2:15 PM. we heard some close thunder and stepped out our back door to see some build ups that had gone up quick enough to start thundering and lightning immediately on our 1.) our east side, 2.) NE. side, 3.) south side and 4.) SE. side. All almost on top of us and producing a fair amount of ground to cloud and cloud to ground lightning. Then there was the one in the evening that passed by on our south side that kept growing stronger and bigger as it passed to the east. The storms top cloud shield kept expanding and was over us for over an hour even though the storms, complex, was still moving east. It was the storms cloud tops that gave us the sprinkles.
7/18/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M later in the day, 4:30 PM. and later we had quite few short lived pop ups that produced some lightning and thunder almost on top of us, just to the SW., west and NW., that chased me in from doing a little watering. We had a few sprinkles from those and shortly after from a moist easterly outflow, dewpoints had been running from 45 to 48 degrees then jumped to 52 to 54 degrees. That enhanced some of those pop ups and the sprinkles came with much larger drops for a little bit before they moved east.

7/21/2019 7:30 AM 0.09 M M M M Some light sprinkles started to fall at 3:39 yesterday as storms advanced closer, they were of short duration. Most of our precipitation came after 5:00 PM. and lasted lightly for hours sometimes very light. I checked the gauge around 7:30 PM. and it barely read .07". The main storm that slid down the interstate, severe storm, and then started east then went SE., I was watching. It had continuous thunder, almost like a thundering roar. I thought I could see rotation to it. It was as mean looking as it sounded as it just missed us on our south side. I could see the greenish, blueish gray up in sections of the cloud that I believe is from the reflection of hail. I was saying to myself stay south please. It to me as I told the Mrs. looked like it could support a tornado.
7/22/2019 7:30 AM 0.18 M M M M The storm clouds started building after or close to 2:00 PM. yesterday almost over us just on the SW., west to NW. sides of us to the point I was looking straight up. Again most of the activity stayed or slid off to the SE., south and SW. . We then had another surge that came from the north close to the 7:30 PM. or after time frame.

7/26/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Starting late afternoon into the evening we had sporadic periods of sprinkles.
7/27/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M We had some light rain sometime after 10:45 PM. last night.
7/28/2019 7:30 AM 0.34 M M M M I was feeding the birds and cleaning bird baths racing to beat the storm that first appeared to be coming in from the NW. but it slid down just on the west side of us and then advanced our way. I just had finished and took 1 step out of the garage, at he same time I saw a bright flash almost above us but slightly on our south side, 1st. strike. As it flashed only my right foot was in the process of completing the 1st. step and immediately I sprung off that foot back into the garage, as I was still in the air going backwards into the garage a loud bang then rumbling boom followed. That happened @ 3:34 PM. . I waited a few minutes then bolted for the back door. As I was going up the deck steps big drops started to fall, that was @ 3:38 PM., these times are accurate. After a couple more minutes it started pound rain with wind. It got real frothy, looked just like a decent tropical storm. It continued to storm right above us, must have been 2 to 3 different cells, for @ least a half hour with 10 to 12 strikes of lightning involving the ground right on top of us with a hard rain. After about 50 min. I checked the gauge and it read .31". We continued to have light to moderate showers until dinner approx. 6:35 PM. when the rain picked up some for at least another half hour.
7/29/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 M M M M
7/30/2019 7:30 AM 0.30 M M M M The main show passed by on our SW. side around the 4:30 PM. time period yesterday. We had no hint of hail. I saw what the TV. stations showed but the lower angled cloud was several hundred feet to the north and eventually caught up and obscured what I had been watching what looked to be a funnel trying to form at the base of the wall cloud, almost formed enough to identify but not enough for me and this angled low forming cloud that had been to its north finally obscured my vision . I thought the funnel was probably obscured in the main cells heavy rain shield that had continuous cloud to ground lightning or it's reverse coming out of it, saw some in it and around the rain shield itself plus all the continuous booming and thundering. It all passed on our WSW. to SW. side, except for a dying cell or 2 that passed just by on our NE. side and we never saw a hint of hail. Rain lasted at least an hour. Had trouble with computer is why I'm late and then error occurred with 1st. try. Started at 7:32 AM. hope this works.
7/31/2019 7:30 AM 0.02 M M M M Started raining moderately @ 5:48 PM. yesterday and was basically done by 6:07 PM. except for a few occasional sprinkles. It all happened as 2 boundaries collided over us, 1 coming from the west and the other from the east.
8/1/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 M M M M
8/2/2019 7:30 AM 0.52 M M M M The first clap of thunder heard was close and @ 2:58 PM. . We had sprinkles up to that point but about 2 to 3 min. max after we started getting showery light to brief moderate rain with 1 brief heavier shower and by 3:08 we had .09" measured precip. already. It continued the light showery rain for about another 8 min. after that while I was unloading firewood from my truck. Then came a flash and immediate bang and I hustled to finish but couldn't because the sky opened up and there was more close lightning. After about 10 to 12 min. it let up then quit and sun came out. I checked the gauge again and we had another .30" for a total of .39". I was in the garage after that and was about to leave when I saw a flash while sunny. I started to look out at the sky and a loud bang then booming followed and I jumped back in the garage. I waited a couple min. and looked again and saw mostly sunny skies overhead and the past storm well off to the east and all that was over head was a couple very small puffs of clouds, little build ups starting and 1 was slightly larger but did not look to be built up near enough for that bolt. Was it from the storms well east? I've seen it before. After a break for almost 2.5 to 3 hrs. a wonderful light to moderate, mostly light, steady rain fell for @ least 2 hrs. adding another .12" of moisture. Forgot to mention during the heaviest burst of rain roughly 3:11 PM. there was a brief period of some lightly mixed in BB size and smaller hail mixed in. Did not think we had that much small hail but decided to measure the open gauge I keep open for hail and snow and it measured another .01" for a total of .52".

8/4/2019 7:30 AM 0.54 M M M M Rushing to feed birds and clean their baths while clouds started building along a almost east west boundary I saw on radar. The Mrs. rushed to cut small area of grass in front yard. It started thundering up in the clouds to our ENE., NE. and north. The clouds appeared to be moving east to west. The large cold drops kept getting more frequent and lightning closer then cloud to ground or ground to cloud started. Mrs. was finished and I was heading inside and rain was still large drop but light, as I started inside close to 3:45 PM. with lightning almost on top of us clear about penny sized weird shaped hail started falling but it quickly changed to white pea sized hail with very heavy rain. The hail continued to rapidly shrink in size to BB size than smaller then no hail but the rain pounded harder than I've seen in awhile. The Mrs. said she could not even see our 5' chain link fence at no more than 20' away. After the heavy rain a light rain fell until close to 5:00 PM. or before. I had looked at the radar again and noticed a small red are almost over us and it looked to be moving westward then stalled and slowly weaken with a elongated small narrow ribbon of yellow with the red spot shrinking on our west side. The dewpoint was 54 to 56 degrees all AM. and through the storm to after. the wind in AM. and before the storm was out of the east to SE.

8/6/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M Close to 6:15 PM. yesterday we had some light wind driven sprinkles like a frothy mist with NE. winds, short lived. Sometime last night or early morning we must have had some light rain, decks were puddled wet this AM.
8/7/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M Started raining lightly close to 4:00 PM. yesterday. It measured on the plus side of .01" .
8/8/2019 7:30 AM 0.03 M M M M It started to rain, yesterday, last night around 8:00 PM. . It was a light rain event, basically steady that lasted to @ least 9:00 PM. and probably beyond.
8/9/2019 7:30 AM 0.80 M M M M We actually had a few light tiny drop brief spits about 1.5 to 2 hours earlier than 4:21 PM. yesterday, I could only tell by seeing tiny drops landing on my truck. The main show when it arrived @ 4:57 PM. was like another tropical storm almost with intense wind and rain. The wind had been out of the ESE. to SSE. right before it arrived turning to a south wind then SSW. then SW. and that's when it really cranked with 30 mph. avg. gusting to 34 mph. and startled my wife with the front door open, but not storm door to watch, and it slammed the door with a ferocity of high wind very heavy 0 visibility and the cracking of what looked to be bb size and smaller hail, hard to tell and see. In that ten minutes my auto rain gauge measured .37" and by about 6:00 PM. we had 3 short burst of heavy since main show and the auto read .52". I then went outside and checked the Stratus gauge and it read .67", most of the precipitation fell with the 10 to 11 min. main show. The last of the rain fell generally in the 10:30 PM. to 12:07 time range and that was another .13". There was lightning and thunder with the main show and about 4 to 5 strikes with the late to early AM. rain, none was really close. The dewpoint most of the day yesterday ran between 58 and 61 degrees. It started in the early AM. as 55 degrees as did this AM. but right now @ 8:20 AM. it is 63 degrees.

8/11/2019 7:30 AM 0.39 M M M M Very heavy rain started at 8:48 last night and was showery in nature but heavy rain each time. Not sure when it ended but still heard heavy rain showers around the 11:30 PM. to 12:00 AM. and maybe beyond, good sleeping weather.
8/12/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M A build up going up almost over us on our east side started raining big drops at 4:10 PM. yesterday and then at 4:26 PM. a bolt of lightning boomed from it and then it moved off. We then had a few light showers about an hour later.
8/13/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Had some sprinkles close to 7:09 PM.
8/14/2019 7:30 AM 0.08 M M M M A storm cloud was building up on our WNW. side fairly close and I started hearing thunder @ 3:26 PM. I continued to hear thunder 5 to 6 more times from it when it started to rain lightly with good sized drops just before 4:00 PM. yesterday. By 4:30 PM. heavier rain began falling and it fell for another 35 to 40 min. with it still thundering at times. This AM. I felt a light fine mist hit my face as I was going to check the rain gauge and empty it.
8/15/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Had some drizzle yesterday morning around 8:00 to 8:30 AM.
8/16/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M Had some thunder and rain showers, large drops, starting at 4:44 PM. yesterday that lasted 20 to 30 min. . It came from build ups just on our west side to extending over us.

8/21/2019 7:30 AM 0.02 M M M M The first thunder heard was 7:46 PM. last night. It then started to flash bang fairly close several times most on our west side. It continued to lightning and thunder a little farther west but still not to far away, 6 to 10 miles away and continued for a couple hours. The rain though didn't start until close to 8:45 PM. and was showery for about 45 min.

8/24/2019 7:30 AM 0.01 M M M M We almost had .02" the reading was about .0144". We had some sprinkles yesterday starting at 4:00 PM. and lasting through 5:00 PM., at least, with some thunder around. Then close to the 10:30 PM. time frame I heard thunder about 3 times, fairly close, and some short hard rain burst with some light splattering's mixed in. And then again around 11:30 PM. to 12:00 AM. a couple short hard burst with the first burst mixed in with small brief hail, sounded pea size or smaller. Then this AM. it is very foggy, at 6:00 AM. could not see neighbors to our east or west and now still can't neighbors to our east plus there was a light mist falling when I checked the gauge @ 7:30 AM. and beyond.
8/25/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M The trace comes from the mist/drizzle yesterday AM. 7:30 to 8:00 then sun broke through.
8/26/2019 9:30 AM 0.00 M M M M Early Doc. appt. Nothing for yesterday except hot 95 degree temp.
8/28/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 M M M M It was still misty with a hazy fog and sun. The dewpoint is 56 degrees and everything is soaking wet. Hope we get some rain soon, it's been forever since we have had some and our lilacs up to 6' have been wilting for at least 2 weeks meaning the soil is dry to at least 20".

9/1/2019 7:30 AM 0.02 M M M M The rain, large drops, started at 1:45 PM. yesterday shortly after a couple rumbles of thunder up in the clouds. Within a couple of minutes it started to rain a little harder that lasted about a half hour. All this from a build up that I had been watching just to our NNW. . After the initial surge we continued to have light showers/sprinkles until 3:25 PM.
9/2/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M About 3:30 PM. yesterday we had some very large cold drops fall from a small build up to our east. It was mostly sunny with some small broken clouds overhead with a breeze out of the east. Another bigger storm with lightning just 2 miles away, per Weather Chan., on our SSW. side at about 5:40 PM. totally missed us.

9/6/2019 7:30 AM T M M M M First saw light rain around 6:15 PM. yesterday and then more sprinkles about 7:15 PM.
9/7/2019 7:30 AM 0.65 M M M M The starting time of rain and heavy rain is accurate plus length of heavy rain. The ending time was approx. plus we did have a couple more heavy burst of rain but the 8 min. .36" of rain was the longest. We had a long period of light to heavy moderate rain which was wonderful and just what the Doc. ordered. It had been at least 3 wks. with any appreciable moisture and lots of 90 degree days. Lilacs had been wilting and scorching for 2 weeks and the ash trees the same for the last week. There was also a lot of very close ground/cloud lightning with the storms and very little small hail involved .
9/8/2019 7:30 AM 0.04 M M M M We had a short fairly heavy rainfall yesterday PM. between 6:00 and 7:00.
9/9/2019 7:30 AM 0.04 M M M M First had some sprinkles around 4:30 PM. yesterday then a harder rain started at 6:10 PM. but it quickly turned lighter or showery but mostly on the lighter side. That lasted a half hour or more. We continued to have light scattered showers into the early morning.

9/20/2019 7:30 AM 0.00 M M M M Not exactly sure if we had some rain last night but probably a heavy dew. Last night 7:30 to 8:00 we had a boundry come through because after southerly winds all day, not real windy, the winds with the boundry were 16 to 21 mph. out of the east plus dewpoints had been 38 to 40 degrees all day jumped to 52 to 54 degress. This AM. the dewpoint was 47 to 48 degrees and the temperature was 49 degrees, it was misty with a ground fog and everything was soaking wet with a trace of moisture in the rain gauge. It was nice for a change. The dewpoint now is 53 degrees again.

4/3/2019 4/04/2019 7:30 AM 2 T T M I saw light sprinkles 2:35 to 2:45 PM. 4/3/19 . Still have 20' wide and over 100' in length and 2' to 3.5' in depth of snow on our north side from the 3/13/19 blizzard . We do not have access to our field with our mower through main gate yet . Something I forgot to say about storm was both my rain gauges , 1 in open field other close to open field but slightly protected were full maxed out and appeared that snow had been blowing out of them . Another after affect of the storm was 5 nights our power went out 4 of which was a few seconds but the morning of the day there was the tornado the power was out for 2.5 hours extending into sunrise . That was the day we finally were able to clear the driveway for the Mrs. to get her car through then we had graupel , hail , snow pellets and snow with lots of thunder . I did get 2 pictures of a funnel cloud @ 4:08 PM. that day almost due north and just east of Falcon Co. , crazy day .
4/15/2019 4/16/2019 7:30 AM 2 0.00 T M Still have some of the stubborn snow drifts left over from the March blizzard . They are a lot smaller and most are only 4" to 11" deep but one is still about 18" deep .
5/5/2019 5/07/2019 7:30 AM 3 0.37 M M We were woke up by pounding hail and lightning flash and thunder last night @ 11:18 PM. . At the time hail appeared only to be pea size peering out the window but we still had piles of hail on the ground this AM. and some were still almost dime size . We fell back to sleep but were woken @ least 2 more times by 11:56 PM. by the sound of more hail , thunder and lightning . This AM. outside there was leaves and blossoms on the ground unfortunately .
