Interesting day. Started with light snow, then a good dose of grouple pellets, then outright rain and back to wet snow. At 2pm we had an inch of the slushy stuff but by morning most of it had melted away except for what was in the gage. We had quite the thunder/snow/rain/hail storm late yesterday afternoon. Quite spectacular with the slushy mix of rain and snow with 1/4 to 1/2 inch soft hail stones. It all came down heavy for about 15-20 minutes. This morning it had all frozen into a watery white slurry of ice mixed with hail. Like a thick tapioca pudding. I did get some video and pictures of it. |

Rain here, in a short heavy burst yesterday afternoon. I was in Glenwood at the time, driving through a short but intense storm with large pea size hail and heavy rain that caused some street "flooding" to a few inches. Enough to get people fleeing Strawberry Days in Sayer Park soaked as passing cars driving too fast sprayed them with water. After that everything settled down. My cucumber planter has no drain holes and spent most of the day saturated from the previous day's rain. Still hasn't dried out much. Cold this morning, down to 36F here at the house. Good thing I brought the tomatoes inside! |
