5/17/2019 8:00 AM 0.97 M M M M 62/f, o/c, light shower with infrequent thunder, 94%RH, 10mph East, Drove 1 mile south on Iowa 130 at 2045 and watched storm roll in and then drove 1 mile on New Liberty road and watched the storm pass to the NE. I set out in our garage and watched the storm move to our station location, rain began as light sprinkle at 2110 quickly progressing to torrential downpour in 12 minutes. Rained off and on all night and was rain at reporting time

Interesting rain event about 1800 almost “spritizing”, very fine mist only noticeable when walking against the wind which was less than 5 miles mph. Noticed it when I managed to get half of yard mowed. Rain was intermittent again most of Sunday

Farm fields in many areas look like small lakes and waterways are running extremely fast. Wapsipincon was more than 1/2 mile out of its bank on old highway 61 and water was encroaching on the road.

Biting bugs are extremely bad at this time of morning. Took a drive around Northern Scott, Eastern Cedar and Eastern Muscatine counties yesterday afternoon and only saw farmers in the fields. Lots of standing water and mud fields. Few fields of newly planted corn. Many fields not even disc from fall! Cedar River back in banks at I-80 and State route 22 West of Muscatine. But standing water in fields and barrow ditches 1/2. Lie from river.

Rain was sideways overpowered my gutters which were not clogged. 1inch branches broke off crab apple and black ash tree in front yard. Wind in excess of +50mph during height of storm (Buford scale) street flooding in front of house. Lights flickered several times but did not go out. Cloud to ground lighting within 2/10 of mile according software on my phone. Continuous 7cloud to cloud for over an hour. VERY active weather event
