1/13/2019 7:00 AM 0.17 3.7 0.47 4.0 0.48 Somehow forgot to sweep the snowboard clean yesterday morning, but there was only 6 mm, 0.2 inches of snow at the time. The ground was bare prior to the 0.2 inch snowfall, so the snowboard represented total snow on the ground. There was significant drifting last night resulting in large drifts around buildings, maximum depth 26 inches at 8:40 pm, 24 inches 7 am this morning. The open field where the snowboard is located was pretty level with snow although I would imagine there was significant compaction and transport of the snow. There was a very large discrepancy between the catch and the snow core, not sure which is more representative of the actual snowfall. I only took a snow core from the snowboard which was from the total event, not just since the last daily report at 7:18 am yesterday, but considering the minuscule amount of snow carried over, representing only 0.01 inch of liquid, I deduced the new snowfall core value by subtracting 0.01 from the total core. I made 5 significant weather reports which I will list here. I measured in mm and converted to inches. Total snow on snowboard representing total snow on ground: 9:18 am 35 mm / 1.4 inches, 11:18 am 50 mm / 2.0 inches, 1:21 pm 75 mm / 3.0 inches, 4:18 pm 96 mm / 3.8 inches, 8:40 pm 100 mm / 3.9 inches

1/29/2019 10:39 AM 0.02 T M 3.5 M Sorry for the late report today. Lots of guesswork in snow measurements. New snow totally a guess. Strong wind, blowing snow, heavy drifting. Visibility extremely variable, difficult to put a number on. Total snow in open field varies 0-6 inches, mostly 2-5 inches. Much higher drifts near buildings, maximum 27.5 inches deep, ditches totally full of snow, but that represents such a small percentage of the total area I don't factor that in. If I did, maybe I could call the total 4.0 inches, but I doubt it. Was a thin layer of ice on west side of gauge, 1 mm or less. Update: I am correcting the new snow amount from 0.2 to Trace. I realized later that the snow packed on the side of my car was from blowing snow, not new snow. And there was nothing but clear ice in the gauge, so most of the precipitation was likely rain.

2/18/2019 7:00 AM 0.05 0.4 M 0.5 M A thin layer (1 mm) of ice on side of gauge Some slight discrepancies in measurement. Could only find 0.4 inch of snow on snowboard with a thin layer of ice directly on the snowboard, but averaging close to 1.0 inch of total snow on the ground. Was only reporting a trace on the ground previously. So I am bumping the new snow up slightly to 0.5 inch to close the gap a little bit. We were probably close to 0.25 inch on the ground prior to this. I did take a snow core from the board, but could not include the ice stuck to the board. Measured 0.03 inch liquid from the core, but do not think it is representative, so leaving form field NA. There was still some very, very light snow falling a few minutes before 7 am (could barely see it), but ended just before 7. Visibility 181300Z 8SM. Update 8:30 AM 2/19/19: I discovered this morning that there is a gap under the snow and ice of about 0.3 inches making it appear that the total snow depth was more than it really was. So I am correcting my numbers to reflect that which will also reconcile the discrepancies previously noted.
2/19/2019 8:00 AM T T M T M Discovered today that there is a gap under the snow and ice so that it appears deeper than it really is. That may explain the discrepancies I had yesterday. But today the open field is about 50% bare and the maximum depth is about 0.8 inches. There was definitely some melting. Even though the high temperature did not get above freezing, it got close enough to melt partially. High temperature was 31º F per KIKK AWOS 10 miles east. Visibility 191400Z 8SM

7/15/2019 7:00 AM 1.26 0.0 M 0.0 M I swapped gauges at 5:15 pm and gauge was still empty this morning at 8:30 am. I am pretty sure all the rain fell between 2:00 and 5:00 pm. Some corn is laying flat on the ground next to my station. I think the pattern looks like there was a downburst or microburst event. Looks like the edge of a circle in the corn, the rest of the circle would be over my lawn and soybean field which is not tall enough to be affected by wind. No other damage though. Just blew my garbage can and a couple of lawn chairs around. No branches down. Had an unofficial report by a neighbor of more than 2 inches of rain 1.7 miles southwest of my station. 151338Z 15SM FEW100 FEW200 FEW250 RMK CLD HEIGHTS BEST GUESS AGL

9/4/2019 7:00 AM 2.04 0.0 M 0.0 M Heavy dew. Gauge swapped out at 6:30 pm, now dry inside, covered in dew outside. Not a cloud in the sky now. I was gone most of the day, left at 10:20 am and the rain became heavy almost immediately traveling west toward Herscher. RADAR archives confirm the heaviest rain started about that time and ended about 11:05 am. I believe most of the rain fell during that time, although RADAR did show one or two very brief heavy showers after that. 041220Z 15SM SKC RMK VIS LOWER E TWD SUN PERHAPS ONLY 8-10

10/13/2018 10/20/2018 7:00 AM 8 0.01 0.0 M Saw a trace of snow fall before we left 5 pm on 10/12/2018. No accumulation though. Been gone for a week and kind of baffled that I only found 0.01 in the gauge upon return. Everyone around us got more than that, but no cracks in the gauge. Funnel and inner tube were removed the whole time, maybe some evaporation?
