I am surprised at the agreement between the gauge reading and the board as we did have some light rain before the snow. Once again, your metrics will not save my information correctly. The total snow on the ground is a Trace due to melting on impact and possible drifting early on, while my board is in a rather sheltered place out of the wind; and it would have cooled faster than the ground so as not to melt the catch. Also, the total snow depth is supposed to be given to the nearest 1/2 inch and 0.2' is closer to zero, which obviously would be incorrect. I am surprised the form accepted my Total Snow Depth as given. |

I had to shovel my way along an 18" - 24" drift following a sidewalk, then through a 36" drift to get to my gauge. Once there, 10'x14' of my 10'x 20' driveway was clear. In short, we must have had decent winds last night as I can also follow a small drift ESE from a tree. Both my N/S & E/W sidewalks were drifted in level with the snow along the sides, and there was the 3' drift running E/W on the north side and immediately in front of my garage. There is a similar drift running E?W behind my house, but not the garage, which sits, detached, just east of the house. |
