Pretty much constant very light snow from 6:00am - 3:30pm, with a few more short periods of light snow between 3:30pm and 6:00 pm. At 9:40am there was 0.9 inches of heavy, wet snow on my snowboard, but the depth continued to decline (melt) even as the snow continued to fall.....making it impossible to get an accurate total accumulation. By 6:00pm this evening the was no snow at all on the ground and only a slight amount left on the roofs of nearby houses.
I entered 0.00 as "depth of total snow and ice" because that's is what it was at the time of this report. I left the accumulation as NA since it was impossible to measure a total.
The event was ALL snow, and I did not detect any rain mixed in with it. |

WOW! Lake effect fluffy snow made it all the way to the center of the lower peninsula.......a rarity here. Snow and sun and snow and sun mid-morning through late afternoon. Easy to recognize after spending the first 21 years of my life in Ludington along the shores of Lake Michigan.

New snow accumulation is an estimate. There was a thin coating on the board at sunrise and another at the time of this reading. Snow was extremely dry and fluffy at both observations.
Melted snow in the gauge was less then 0.01 inches (appeared to be a little less than 1/2 way to 0.01 inches. Thus "T" was reported as the liquid equivalent. |

We've had some snow mixed in with the rain and freezing rain, but it was impossible to measure as it melted on contact.
At the time of this reading there was ice (freezing rain) that measured about half way between 0.1 and 0.2 inches...............I have to go with .15 inches of freezing rain. |

I did see some snowflakes after midnight that melted upon contact, and there was some additional ice accumulation, but when daylight came there was no trace of any new snow or ice....it had all melted. So no way to measure or estimate any amounts.
BTW the highest wind gust measured at my station (inside the city) was 33mph around 3:00pm. |

Snow and graupel earlier this morning, but when I got up at 11am it had all melted.m My wife said bridges/overpasses were slippery at 7am, and that there was about 1/2 inch of snow on the grass. Because I did not observe this I left accumulation of new snow at NA. At the time this reading there was no snow, not even a trace, on the ground. |

Around 10am this morning there was about 10 minutes of snowflakes ranging from quarter to half dollar size.
Precipitation here was all snow. Snow started about 8:40am but did not start to accumulate until 11:45am.
Snowed (mostly light)continuously with just a few short breaks from 8:40am - through my reading time of 11:59pm (and still snowing very lightly.
Snow was water laden (heavy)and settled quickly.......accumulation is a fact based estimate based on nume3ous measurements throughout the event. |
