He reported 0.13" of rain when precipitation began late yesterday a.m. At 3 p.m. yesterday he measured a snow water equivalent of 0.18". This morning he made an observation at 8:50 a.m. with an additional snow water equivalent of 1.25 inches. The total snow water equivalent from yesterday until time of observation this a.m. was 1.43 inches. He made several snow depth measurements in the front and back yard today at 8:50 a.m., and the average depth was 14.2 inches.
1/13/2019 7:00 AM 0.39 3.5 M 17.5 M Historic snow event is winding down this a.m. My 2-day snowfall total was 17.7 inches. This was a prolonged storm event with snow beginning around 12 p.m. on Friday Jan 11 and falling for approximately 30 consecutive hours. The snow had a high water content, giving a bluish hue to it in the cracks and crevasses. Winds were fairly light during the event, generally around 10 mph so not much blowing and drifting occurred. Some light snow occurred last night into this a.m. The heavy weight of the thick, wet snow blanket was likely challenging on some load bearing structures. Trees, especially evergreens, were showing the weight strain with several branches bent and broken off in the city.

I heard 5 claps of thunder between 5-5:30 a.m. CST. The temperature hovered between 29-30°F from late yesterday evening thru this a.m. There was a light glaze on many surfaces, including trees and power lines, but most roads appeared to be wet. There were icy spots on some untreated pavements.

Road surfaces and sidewalks are mostly wet. The radial ice thickness on tree branches is about 0.2", but thin icicles ranging from 0.5" to 1.5" long are hanging from tree limbs and power lines. I heard one clap of thunder around noon yesterday. A small thunderstorm cell passed just to the north.
