Total SWE Monday from 9/24 thru this am = 0.0". Sun. Temps = 79/59º, once the clouds gave the sun a chance it was pretty sunny w/nice S breezes, tho very damp.
10/2/2018 7:40 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 7:40am 68º, H=94%, DP 66º, AP 30.13", SW nice breezes, a very heavy Dew w/accompanying Haze limiting visibility somewhat & sun's trying to get thru a.m. clouds. Mon Temps = 80/60º, the SE breezes never got so heavy that the mugginess was overcome. Feels like we're going back toward Summer, but then wouldn't be surprised - we never had Spring.
10/3/2018 7:40 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 7:40am 71º, H=93%, DP 68º, AP 29.9*6", not very warm S winds in mid teens & sunny w/a heavy Dew. Wonder if the Rain systems that they say are moving in for tonight, tomorrow night & over the weekend will bring us the +1" of Rain. They've been so wrong so often. Tues Temps = 85/67º, another hot muggy sunny day w/very light S breezes until around midnight when they picked up quite a bit.
10/5/2018 7:35 AM 0.12 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 7:35am 72º, H=91%, DP 69º, AP 29.97", S breezes moving into teens & sun hasn't made it thru the clouds yet but its light is hazily coming thru. By 4am the thick Mist/Fog had totally lifted. Thurs Temps = 73/59º, the "real" Rain ended about 9am, leaving another 0.12" in the gauge. However, the nasty, cloudy day continued to have water in the air requiring wipers to be engaged, albeit on the lowest setting, into latter afternoon. Just before sundown, a thick Mist developed & slowly enveloped everything to where visibility was reduced to maybe 1/10 of a mile & continued into the night.
10/6/2018 7:40 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 7:40am 71º, H=92%, DP 69º, AP 29.95", S winds in mid teens, a nice Dew & cloudy w/no sign of the sun. Rains still to our W. Hurry up & wait! Fri Temps = 88/61º, turned into a hot muggy "Summer" day w/the saving grace being the mid-hi teen S winds.
10/7/2018 7:40 AM 1.64 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7:40am 67º, H=97%, DP 66º, AP 30.02", ES mild breezes, water water everywhere, sunny thru the clouds. Emptied gauge of 1.64" from the T-storms that moved in yesterday & continued thru the night. Sat. Temps = 83/64º, Thunder c/b heard starting about 10:30am & the sun, which had been bright & hot was overtaken by grey clouds. About 3pm the Temps cooled off & at 3:18pm, finally, after several false starts (a few droplets here & there) the Rain started, coming almost straight down & @ a nice rate. Heavier Rain lasted about 15 minutes & then petered out to a light Drizzle, followed by a balmy afternoon. Then the T-storms moved in after dark, following the same pattern as in the afternoon, but w/loud booming thunder & quite a bit of Lightning.
10/8/2018 7:45 AM 0.94 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 7:45am 70º, H=92%, DP 68º, AP 29.97", SE winds in low teens, a very nice Dew & sun's trying to come thru clouds. Total SWE Monday from 10/1 thru this am = 0.0". Sun. Temps = 78/63º, tho the sun did make it thru the clouds, periods of Drizzle & a couple of T-storms. The N.W.S. issued a Winter Weather Advisory from midnight thru 6pm Sat. as a Snow Storm is expected to move in, dropping up to 2.5" accompanied by gusting winds up to the 40mph range + once the Snow starts, Temps will rapidly dive into the 20's. Thurs Temps = 44/37º, Fog moved in & out thru out the day & sun never made it thru the clouds & Fog. As darkness fell a faint Drizzle started off & on thru the night.
1/19/2019 7:40 AM 0.19 T T T T Sat. 7:40am 27º, H=96%, DP 24º, AP 29.97", NW winds in mid 20's & fine particles of Snow/Ice being blown around. Needless to say, no sign of the sun for the clouds. If it stays, will be wonderful even if not going t/b much above freezing, if that. Sat. Temps = 15/47º, a downhill ride Temp-wise on this nasty day - strong gusting winds, icy roads, not sign of the sun, etc. Also a T of Snow/Rain but not measurable & Wind Chill was terrible.
1/21/2019 7:55 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 7:55am 22º, H=86%, DP 19º, AP 30.29", ES winds in hi teens & cloudy but bright. A beautiful sunrise. The N.W.S. issued a Wind Advisory from noon today until midnight as SE winds w/b 25-30mph w/gusting to 45mph or higher. Total SWE Monday from 1/14 thru this am = T. Sun. Temps = 32/10º, a very sunny day w/strong winds, but the sun was also strong & made it feel almost comfortable when out of the wind. Unfortunately clouds moved in about 10pm obscuring the Super Red Wolf Moon so couldn't see it, however, the dogs weren't howling @ it, so it was a trade-off.
1/22/2019 7:40 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 7:40am 44º, H=89%, DP 38º, AP 29.89", SE winds in hi teens & a grey morning w/no sign of the sun. Mon Temps = 37/21º, ES winds & gusting were fierce (couldn't safely open doors, tractors swaying in the winds, driving near impossible) & cloudy all day w/no visible sun, only light from behind the clouds until a beautiful sunset. Winds started to change more to the S & die down as darkness fell.
1/23/2019 7:45 AM 0.38 T T T T Wed 745am 21º, H=89%, DP 18º, AP 30.08", WN winds in low teens, everything's frozen & light grey clouds obscuring any sign of the sun. Where's the Snow (except on vehicle where there's a Trace), plenty of thin Ice tho. Defrosted gauge of 0.38" Ice. Lucky we have Vaseline to cover the back of the gauge - doesn't freeze to the support. Tues Temps = 48/31º, a light Mist moved in about 2pm, ruining a muddy & pleasant, if sunless, day, & then, about 4pm a nice cool gentle Rain started to fall & continued into the night, however, Temps did not fall & by 9pm were still in the mid 40's. The N.S.W. issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 9pm thru 6am tomorrow. Can expect mixed Precip. of Snow & Sleet w/Snow = from a dusting to 1/2" & Ice up to 1/10. Temps to fall into 20's & winds from NW.
1/24/2019 7:40 AM T T T T T Thurs 7:40am 23º, H=93%, DP 21í, AP 30.11", W light breezes, everything's covered in a light coating of Frost & sun's coming thru the clouds. It seems we had a few Snow flurries earlier this a.m., but nothing in the gauge. We've had colder, damper, w/bone chilling N & NE winds, etc. days, but the last few seem t/b more bone chilling, even among the younger people. Wed Temps = 31/20º, sun finally made it thru the clouds about 2pm, did create some minor melting, but, boy was it bone chilling all day. A few Snow flurries, but nothing to measure.
1/25/2019 7:40 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 7:40am 8º, H=86%, DP 5º, AP 30.40", S light breezes & sunny, but everything that isn't frozen has a nice coating of Frost. Thurs Temps = 32/47º, sun never made it completely thru the clouds for any length of time until sundown, then we had a pretty sunset. Winds bone chilling, but this is Winter in all its "glory". Even the working animals didn't want to be out for very long. Thankfully the livestock are calm & didn't need them rounding them up.

Temps = 33/8º, not a bad Winter day as we had some sun even when it had to come thru the clouds. Just about 3:45pm a sudden Snow Shower system rushed thru, ending by 4:30pm & leaving 0.25" Snow, melting in gauge to 0.06".

A crazy a.m. - Tire Co. here to find out why new big Tractor Tire went down 2x since put on Fri, phone calls from people looking for hay... The N.W.S. issued a Wind Chill Watch from 6pm Tues thru Noon on Wed. Looks like Jan. is going out nastily. Total SWE Monday from 1/21 thru this am = T. Sun. Temps = 51/28º, what a beautiful day - a strong sun, barely noticeable breezes, everything defrosted by 10am & puddles again abound. When darkness fell the strong gusting winds came up, but Temps didn't fall all that much.
1/29/2019 7:40 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 7:40am 14º, H=78%, DP 9º, AP 30.30", SW mild breezes, a big bright sun & everything has a coating of Frost. The N.W.S. updated the Wind Chill Watch to an Advisory as W.C. w/b between -10º & -20º at best. At least the strong fiercely gusting NW winds have died down. Mon Temps = 19/45º on a downhill spiral all day. Winds changed to NW & picked up fast. Walking was hazardous - not only from the winds, but from flying debris, esp. small twigs from the trees. Just before 9am, when the sun had broken thru the clouds, the N.W.S. issued a Wind Advisory until 6pm as NW winds w/b up to 30mph w/gusting in the hi 40's & they were right on + the Temps started to fall.

It's cold enough that the cattle are all bunched up tight. Tues Temps = 37/13º, needless to say an extremely cold day as sun wasn't strong enough to give us much warmth to combat the NE winds. About 8:45pm a light blowing Snow started falling & ended shortly before 10pm
1/31/2019 7:45 AM 0.00 0.0 M T T Thurs 7:45am 16º, H=72%, DP 9º, AP 30.27", ES cutting winds in low teens & sunny. The only Snow left are traces & where the winds blew it into small piles. Wed Temps = 18/7º, luckily winds were down & sun was up, bright & shining strong. Most of the Snow melted quickly & med-heavy traveled roads cleared & dried fast. If out of the NE breezes & in the sun, was a pleasant, if cold dry Winter's day.

Thurs Temps = 42/11º, something happened to the sun - clouds took over mid-morning & ruled the day. The winds were cutting & a light Mist moved in about 4pm, & slowly picking up to a light Rain, so that by the time it ended about 9pm we had 0.01 in the gauge.
2/2/2019 7:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 7:45am 48º, H=95%, DP 45º, AP 30.14", S breezes nearing teens, everything's wet due to heavy Dew/light early a.m. Fog & cloudy w/signs of sun behind clouds. Fri Temps = 56/34º, a nice warm-up w/a mostly cloudy but light day as sun wasn't very successful in beating back the clouds. The E part of the SE winds in low teens kept a chill in the air. Fog finally gone by 11am but left a think Haze across the land until mid afternoon.
2/3/2019 7:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7:45am 55º, H=92%, DP 52º, AP 29.89", S winds in mid teens & thick clouds w/no sign of the sun. Sat. Temps = 62/42º, never saw the sun only a brightening behind the clouds & toward latter afternoon the breezes moved to becoming windy in the mid teens. The sucking mud won't dry, so standing in one spot for several minutes can cause one to lose their boots - at least partially.

Have to enjoy it while we can as forecasters say Temps to fall later today & winds change to NW. Total SWE Monday from 1/28 thru this am = 0.25". Sun. Temps = 67/48º, sun finally thru clouds by 10am & by noon the clouds had mostly departed the area & we had a strong sun & blue skies w/strong gusting S winds which start a low howling as evening turned into night. Three days of "Spring" during Winter, we'll take it, esp. when it help dry out some of the muddiest spots. Ponds still full even if waters a little rough due to the winds.

2/6/2019 7:45 AM 0.59 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 7:45am H=99%, DP 31º, AP 29.94", NE mild breezes, a light Fog & Rain's stopped for the time being but no sign of the sun for the clouds. Puddles, puddles everywhere & emptied the gauge of 0.59". Fields, etc. are flooded, but not because of amt. of Rain so much as still loaded w/water from earlier Rains & ground's melting. Feels warmer than Temp & breezes would indicate. Tues Temps = 59/30º, sun came out for a short time when the Fog lifted mid-morning then clouds returned early afternoon. Those E winds were cutting. About 4pm a light Shower & then continued off & on thru the night, sometimes torrential from the WN accompanied by Lightning &, if Thunder, couldn't hear it for the heavy Rain & Wind. Some of the Rain sounded more like Sleet & roads were slick.

Wed Temps = 42/31º, the Fog never left, dropping down & partially lifting until about 5pm when it dropped a thick curtain, cutting visibility to 1/4 mile or less. Shortly before 8pm Thunder & Rains, followed by Lightning, continuing off & on thru the night. The N.W.S. issued 1 Watch, 2 Advisories & 2 Warnings: (1) Flood Watch from 6pm tonight thru 6pm Thurs. due to expected Rainfall of 1.50 - 3.00"; (2) Dense Fog Advisory until 3am Thurs.; (3) Winter Weather Advisory from 3am to noon Thurs. as we will have mixed Precip. 2/8/2019 7:45 AM T T T T T Fri 7:45am 10º, H=71%, DP 2º, AP 30.74", WN almost inert breezes, everything's frozen & sun's thru clouds big & bright - maybe it'll melt the Ice hanging off the trees, fences, etc. Thurs Temps = 37/14º, by 10am the puddles that had been free flowing had all frozen over - not so much from the cold, but the fierce winds carried particles of Ice in them. By 2pm very tiny Snowflakes were falling - but extremely light & sporadic & the winds were carrying them all over.

A lot of Ice melting & the trees are almost free of the Ice. The N.W.S. issued a Winter Weather Advisory from midnight Sat. thru noon on Sun. as we'll have mixed Precip. of Snow up to 1", Sleet bet. 1 & 2/10" & Ice accum. up to 1/10". Here we go again.

If one walks on the grass it's ok, but walking on dirt or cement is hazardous. Emptied gauge of a T of water. Sat. Temps = 39/12º, those ES breezes are a killer even tho the sun was strong, if you were in the breezes/winds, you got cut, once out of them it was okay. Just about 10:50pm a fine cold Mist started settling in.

Fog in & out all day, sometimes thin as as day wore on got thicker until by 5pm could only see 1/2 mile & by 8pm visibility down to a matter of yards. Was a little on the eerie side watching the cattle disappear & re-appear as the Fog dropped & lifted. The N.W.S. finally issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 10am Mon. but we were already in deep "Pea Soup".

Emptied gauge from yesterday's Rains of an additional 0.25". Mon Temps = 49/37º, a Rainy day, but on the warm side. Everything's muck & mire/slipping & sliding as the ground is still frozen about 3" down & is having trouble absorbing all the water quickly. At least the ponds & creeks are full & wildlife doesn't have to be short of water.

Puddles are now mostly just slippery muck & mire, very little water except in rockier areas. The N.S.W. issued another Winter Weather Advisory from 6pm tonight thru 6am Sun. as expect mixed Precip. w/a dusting of Snow & up to a 0.10" Ice. Fri. Temps = 28/18º, pea sized Sleet/Ice started to fall just about 8:30am & continued all day, very lightly making walking (not to mention driving) hazardous, unless you walked on the grass (bad for the grass, but good for the walker as less danger of falling). About 4pm started to change over to Freezing Rain mixed w/light Snow. Good thing I remembered to re-apply the Vaseline to the gauge so it doesn't stick to the connection plate. Storm out of here by 9pm & everything's covered in a thin layer of Ice.

The N.S.W. issued 2 Winter Weather Advisories: (1) Dade = from midnight Wed thru 6am Thurs, &, (2) Lawrence = 6pm Wed until 12pm Thurs as the Storm will bring Freezing Drizzle w/Ice accum. up to 1/10". Everything's frozen & visibility is down to a few miles. Wed Temps = 44/24º, Fog that started moving in about 6am continued until visibility was down to about 1/5 mile & lingered until about 1:30pm when it thinned & lifted very slowly. By 5pm it was pretty much gone, but all day we had invisible Icy water in the air that froze on contact w/metal & made walking slightly slippery. The Winter Weather Advisory for Dade was extended to Noon Thurs.

Thurs Temps = 25/22º, the ground had iced over so slippery & hard that the only "safe" place to walk is on the grass - & even then had to take extra care. However, we didn't have any Precip. Before, after or during weaning. Unfortunately, the Dams weren't as cooperative as usual. Guess they didn't like walking on frozen, slippery mud any more than we did. Boy, the ground was frozen sold & could be described as stone. Even 4-wheel drive had problems (probably didn't help that the ground was "broken up" w/tractor tire treads - well, its been that muddy). Had that fine Icy Mist that encases everything after dark but doesn't leave a Trace of moisture in the gauge.

Still slippery as all get out from the Ice of previous days. Looks like Sunday's recycling will have to wait as will everything else off the Ranch. The N.W.S. issued a Wind Chill Advisory from 10pm tonight thru 10am Mond as Wind Chills c/b as low as -15º & extended the Winter Weather Advisory until 3pm today. Sat.
