It spit snow for about 10 minutes at 9:50 a.m. Snow started again at about 12:30 p.m., about 20 minutes later the flakes were big & fluffy, eventually covering the ground. Snow ended about 2 p.m. and measured 0.05" liquid. There was rain for about 1/2 hour at 3 p.m. and again about 7:20 p.m., adding a trace of precipitation. |

Wow! What a rainstorm! It only lightened up yesterday afternoon for a few minutes. At 10:20 p.m. there was 0.52". Rain was heavy in the night. At 1:50 a.m. a strong gust of wind came rolling in like a freight train. I am really suprised no trees were knocked over. This is when the rain quit. This gust lasted at least 10 minutes. There were more gusts at 10 +/- minute intervals for the next couple of hours. Light rain started again about 3 a.m. Not sure when it ended. This morning is partly sunny! It is a relief to have a good, soaking rain before winter! |

High temperature was 38F. Heavy rain continued from the night before. Temperature dropped to 35F at 10:30 a.m. when snow mixed with heavy rain. At 11 a.m. there was more snow than rain. I pulled the inner tube from the gauge and measured 0.21". It switched to all snow by 11:30 a.m. and continued to snow until 1:30 p.m. when it started gradually switching back to all rain. I measured 0.5" of snow at 1:30 p.m. There were a few more snow flakes at times mixed with rain. Temperature dropped to 34F and rain tapered to sprinkles by 9 p.m. & ended sometime in the night. Early morning hours developed thick fog. Currently it is still 34F, calm with thick fog. Visibility is about 200 yards. |

Awesome storm in the evening! This was not forecasted so I was surprised. A little rain 7:54-7:59 p.m. Thunder started about 8:20 p.m.,followed by lighting & rain. At 8:55 p.m. there was thunder, lightning, hard rain & hail. I entered a hail report. This wave lasted about 15 minutes. About 9:30 p.m. another round of thunder, lightning, very hard rain & hail came for another 20 minutes or so. I entered another hail report. At 10 p.m. there was 0.22" in the gauge with thunder & lightning continuing. All was quite finally by about 11 p.m. or after. What a storm! Thunder started in the distance about 6:30 p.m. & gradually got closer. Lightning was in the clouds & over the Swan mountains as the thunder got closer. Wind was very strong by 6:45 p.m.-all trees were really blowing around. Rain started at 7:05 p.m. & quickly became an intense down pour. Wind slowed some just before rain stopped at 7:39 p.m. for 0.14". Thunder continued. There was another couple of minutes of rain at 7:46 p.m., then again at 8:17 p.m. There was still a little wind but not strong. Then the storm really hit! Lightning started to intensify & thunder to the south & east. By 9:30 p.m. the storm was close & wind increased really swaying the trees again. I am really surprised trees didn't blow down. At 9:43 p.m. rain started again. At 10:13 p.m. lightning was overhead, wind was intense & rain was a downpour. Lightning was spectacular & wind was intimidating even for me! Again, I Am really surprised trees weren't blown over. At 10:30 p.m. all quieted down for a few minutes. Then thunder & lightning continued over the mountains until midnight at least. Another amazing storm! This morning is overcast, breezy & 49F. Storm details- all p.m. times: 5:50 thunder starts, lightning about 15 minutes later 6:23 the first rain drops start falling 6:28 wind starts-not too bad, temperature dropped from high of 83F to 70F 6:38 rain intensifies to a down pour 6:42 lightning on the valley floor only about 1 mile to the ESE of me, rain intensifies even more, temperature is 63F, 6:45 rain increases more & 60F, 6:50 lightning over the house, rain & wind increases, rain has switched from driving rain from the south to driving from the east 6:59 rain lightens up some 57F 7:01 intense rain again from the south 7:16 rain lightens a little, lightning still overhead, no wind 7:27 finally safe enough to check rain gauge-0.54"! Still raining. 7:45 no wind, steady rain, not as much thunder & lightning 8:17 wind picks up again, rain steady & increasing with sporadic lightning, rain on north & east windows now 8:30 windy, rain sporadic 0.79" in the rain gauge 8:53 wind at a breeze now 9:00 wind picks up some 9:20 wind is still, 0.80" in gauge, temperature had been steady at 57F

Thunder started at 2:59 p.m. Wind picks up, thunder increases & is much closer at 3:57 p.m. Light sprinkles start at 4 p.m. Rain is steady at 4:03 p.m. Lightning starts at 4:23 p.m. At 5:03 p.m. rain lightens, thunder & lightning are sporadic. Rain increases again at 5:14 p.m. & is falling steady by 5:25 p.m. with a light breeze & no thunder & lightning. At 6:10 p.m. there was 0.45" in the rain gauge. This pattern of light rain, steady rain, wind, light breeze, sporadic thunder & lightning continued until 8:48 p.m. Puddles filled all the low spots! Low was 29F. I was gone much of the day and returned about 3:30 p.m. There was mild wind. What was amazing is the wind I could hear in the mountains. It was a steady roar that sounded like a jet plane getting ready to take off. In the later evening it was loud enough to hear inside my house. I have not ever experienced hearing the wind but not being in it. Fascinating & intimidating at the same time! Snow started spitting about 5 p.m. Light snow started about 9 p.m. There was some wind by this time but not bad; it swayed the trees but seemed to mostly be in the tree tops. This morning there is a slight breeze and a steady light snow falling. |
