10/1/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
10/2/2018 7:00 AM 0.41 M M M M Davis VP reported 0.42". This is from two events moving along a front stalled south of us. The first from 0800-1500 and a second starting at 0530 and continuing. Plus some stray light rain in between. We had heavy rain at 0700 from a small cell, so expect a fair amount of variability in today's reports.
10/3/2018 7:00 AM 0.94 M M M M Davis VP reported 0.98". A stalled front brought rain pretty much throughout the day, with peaks around the start of the period (and another before) and another during a prolonged rainy period all afternoon.

10/8/2018 7:00 AM 0.12 M M M M Davis VP reported 0.10". While light rain was ending yesterday AM at 0700, and it's drizzling now, bucket tips were reported only between 1600 and 0130. Nothing warrants the term "heaviest rain."
10/9/2018 7:00 AM 0.02 M M M M Davis VP also recorded 0.02" of gorgeous pink liquid, likely due to bird poop in the funnel. I think we had drizzle through much of the day. bucket tips were reported at 0820 and 0130, the only time I can report is the start of rain - it was drizzling at the start of the period. I'll call it reasonably accurate. :-) It's not precipitating now.
10/10/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Heavy dew left an apparent trace in the rain gauge.
10/11/2018 7:00 AM 0.05 M M M M Davis VP also reported 0.05". CoCoRaHS gauge has a little more. Rain has picked up a lot since 0700.
10/12/2018 7:00 AM 0.94 M M M M 0.99" storm total, Davis VP reported 1.02/1.07" total. Another soggy day, especially before noon.
10/13/2018 8:00 AM T M M M M Davis VP says 0.00". Trace in the AM, not certain when it started, but it's sprinkling now.
10/14/2018 7:00 AM 0.13 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Davis VP reported 0.12". Drizzle and light rain throughout the AM, enough to make for some very soggy leaves to take to the dump. Then a small shower with blue sky and a rainbow to the east bought 0.02" at 1700. Frost in the morning, despite river fog too. Low temp 31F.

11/1/2018 7:00 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 I saw raindrops on my car after work (in Nashua), so I checked my rain gauge this AM and found a few drops there. It might have been melted frost from yesterday, but I'll call it a trace of rain. I suspect a lot of T reports from NH are dew or frost, so I shouldn't mucking things up too badly. Oh - temperature and dewpoint graphs show a likely shower at 1800.
11/2/2018 7:00 AM 0.70 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Davis VP reports 0.71". Rain started at 0900, but the first tip didn't report until 1000. Much of the afternoon was dry or drizzly. Overnight rain featured a dying cell that entered the state near Keene and faded soon after passing us. We had 0.32" from 0240 to 0400.
11/3/2018 7:00 AM 1.97 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Davis VP reports exactly 2.00". Pretty much rain throughout the 24 hours. Peaks of rain at 1450-1500 (0.20") and around 2330-0000 (0.19"). Most steady rain after 0000. Rain was _not_ recorded for hours 16, 17, 21.
11/4/2018 7:00 AM 0.29 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Davis VP also reported 0.29". Light rain in the AM ended around 1000, then a FROPA at 1350 brought low air pressure (29.37"), more rain, and ushered in high winds with much drier and cooler air for the rest of the day.

11/6/2018 7:00 AM 0.37 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Davis VP reported 0.39". While I saw a few raindrops around 1100, the first bucket tip wasn't reported until the 2020-2030 period, so I'll call that the start of rain. OTOH, rain faded down to measurable drizzle at around 0100 with three tips in the ensuing six hours. So the start/stop times below are pretty useless.
11/7/2018 7:00 AM 0.75 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Davis VP reported 0.77". Morning drizzle gradually faded away, the next system brought rain just after noon and that continued into the evening. It's a sunny morning, I'm tempted to fill out a "significant weather" report. :-)

11/14/2018 7:00 AM 0.78 T M 0.0 0.00 Davids VP reported 0.87", wind likely triggered early tips. Steady rain through the morning, then warm front at 1500, cold front at 2200, with tiny traces of graupel in the evening and snow in the morning, those aren't in the timing data below.

11/19/2018 7:00 AM 0.08 0.9 0.08 1.5 M Light snow started with a flurry last night, and continued off and on through 0700. Radar shows we're pretty much done.
11/20/2018 7:10 AM 0.26 1.7 0.22 4.0 M Mixed rain and snow leaves a mess to look at, deal with, and to measure. This data has a trace from the AM and new precip starting at 2120.
11/21/2018 7:00 AM 0.34 3.7 M 7.0 M Temps around freezing and snow ending later than expected messed up my planning. It looks like we also got a trace of graupel around midnight. Not accounted for in ending time.
11/22/2018 7:00 AM 0.01 T M 6.5 M Windblown snow squalls in the evening associated with an arctic front were mostly unmeasurable, but the gauge captured enough.

11/25/2018 7:00 AM 0.08 0.0 0.00 5.0 M Melting snow in the Davis rain gauge has obscured the start time of the rain, but it's raining across 0700.
11/26/2018 7:00 AM 0.04 0.0 0.00 2.5 M Davis VP finished melting snow later yesterday morning. Most of the last 36 hours has been near 32F. Rain/drizzle at the start and end of the obs period means there's no time data to report. Peak melting was between 0930 and 1030. :-)
11/27/2018 7:00 AM 0.84 0.7 0.21 2.5 M Miserable weather for measuring snow. After the rain changed to snow and covered the ground, we had a long period where the snow was melting as fast as it fell. I got numbers, but the best description is that I was near the rain/snow line. For the second day in a row, there was precip at both 0700 times.
11/28/2018 7:00 AM 0.20 0.2 M 2.5 M Another day with snow that is difficult to measure but is worth measuring because it's in the way. Slush covered driveways (some 0.7") are hard to clear and the residue was taking its time melting. Until it froze.
11/29/2018 7:00 AM T T M 2.0 M A little insubstantial snow in the AM.

12/3/2018 7:00 AM 0.35 0.0 0.00 1.0 M This is since 0715 yesterday. Snow before that melted in the Davis VP's collector. It seems to say 0.91" for the event, the CoCoRaHS gauge says 0.83". Rain tapered to drizzle yesterday, but it's completely unclear when it stopped.
12/4/2018 7:00 AM 0.01 0.0 0.00 T M Less snow melted yesterday than I expected. Let's call it a trace. Most of that 0.01" fell in the AM, but I drove through a sprinkle around 2000. It showed up as an isolated spike in my temperature record.

12/6/2018 7:00 AM T T M T M Frost and a trace of graupel overnight.
12/7/2018 7:00 AM T 0.1 M T M A small snow shower associated with a cold front brushed by us to the north. From radar, it looks like snow started around 0630 and some extended past 0700, so I'll record a T tomorrow (if I remember). There's enough snow to warrant brushing off the car, not enough to clear the driveway, barely enough to measure, some 0.1" to 0.2" per ruler.
12/8/2018 7:00 AM T T M T M Occasional flurries in the AM as we recovered from a FROPA. Air temp falling since noon, dew point since 0700.

My temperature data is ambiguous, but that time frame is about the best match. From the condition of the ice on my driveway, that's about what I expected. It's not going to melt today, but high winds will help it sublimate.

12/20/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.5 M High temp yesterday was 34F, not enough to melt the thin snow cover. Well, sleet cover, it wasn't snow.
12/21/2018 7:00 AM 0.24 0.0 0.00 T M The heaviest rain wasn't very heavy, only 0.15"/hour. I expect tomorrow's report will have a heaviest worthy of the name, and warm temperatures that should remove all undisturbed snow cover.
12/22/2018 7:00 AM 0.91 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Davis VP reported 0.97", 1.24" for the event. Temperature jumped from 42.6F at 1410 to 60.2F at 1510, over 17 degrees in an hour. That and the rain have wiped out the trace of snow (okay, sleet) that had been hanging on.

12/29/2018 7:00 AM 0.59 M M T M I was in Dallas for a few days and got back last night. It's not clear what happened yesterday except that precip must have started around 0600 with near freezing temps and my driveway was covered with coarse ice. Davis VP reported the first tip at 0710 at a temperature of 30.7F, so let's just call this report starting at 0600 yesterday.
12/30/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 There was a sprinkle yesterday PM at the grocery store. I saw no trace of precip here, so have a zero.
12/31/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thus ends 2018. Sort of. It will rain or something before midnight here.
1/1/2019 7:00 AM 0.78 1.8 0.51 1.5 M Awful event to measure. Rain started around 1930, changed to snow in an hour or, then sleet around midnight, then rain until 0500 per interpreting Davis VP rain data filtering through snow in the funnel and KCON data.
1/2/2019 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 1.0 M
1/3/2019 7:00 AM 0.07 1.1 0.08 1.5 M Snow started some time after midnight and is continuing for a few hours.

1/5/2019 7:30 AM T T T 1.0 M The forecast warned of a chance of a light glaze on the roads this AM, but all I can find so far is very little graupel on the driveway and concentrated on the windshield.
1/6/2019 7:00 AM 0.09 0.0 0.00 1.0 M This is somewhat more rain than expected, but forecasts for the edge of a system are tough to get right.
1/7/2019 7:00 AM T T T 0.5 M Cold start. Yesterday's NW flow didn't completely wring out over the Green Mountains and allowed a couple flurries to decorate the air in above freezing temperatures.
1/8/2019 7:30 AM 0.10 0.8 0.10 1.0 M S- continues, there won't be much more, maybe just a trace. The dewpoint rose quickly after 0300, by 4 degrees in one 10 minute period (and air temp dropped 0.5 degrees), and a 0340 start time looks good.
1/9/2019 7:30 AM 0.55 1.6 0.22 2.5 M New England weather has outdone itself, The remnants of a first event mostly ended with 0.2" of snow, then freezing drizzle and a little rain took over until the second event started at 0400 and brought 1.4" more snow and an air temp of 32.5F. Light snow at both 0700 (and 0730) yesterday and today.
1/10/2019 7:00 AM 0.04 T M 2.5 M Various pieces of precip just didn't want to stay in the mountains.
1/11/2019 7:00 AM T T M 2.0 M That's from just a few flakes in the morning. More countable than measurable.

1/13/2019 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 2.0 M Yesterday's high was 20F, this morning's low was 4F. Cold storage, nothing is changing.
1/14/2019 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 2.0 M Cold, much like yesterday AM, around 5F. (Above zero!)

1/16/2019 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 2.0 M
1/17/2019 7:00 AM T T M 2.0 M I managed to get some ice off the driveway yesterday. It wasn't too bad, but could have been a hassle while shoveling tomorrow or snowblowing Sunday.
1/18/2019 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 2.0 M Radar showed snow clouds overhead around 0200, but they and their snow were rapidly evaporating and no snow reached the ground or even raised the dew point.
1/19/2019 7:00 AM T T M 2.0 M I was surprised that after stopping for Chinese food on the way home that there was a sizable dusting of snow at home. From radar, it looks like I was on the very southern lobe of a snow shower around 1700, so points north of me probably had measurable snow. (I haven't peeked.)
1/20/2019 7:00 AM 0.53 4.6 0.54 6.5 M Snow started around 1700, has never been very heavy. It may be threatening to mix with partially melted and refrozen snow. Forecast is for a mix, air temp is 12F, so rain will be bad news.
1/21/2019 7:00 AM 0.44 0.9 0.43 7.5 M Today's precip was sleet with a touch of freezing rain, all winding down with a brief snow squall at 1700 _after_ I thought I was done clearing the driveway. That was just a trace and has mostly evaporated despite frigid temps. This AM is the first sub-zero day of the season.
1/22/2019 7:00 AM T T M 7.0 M Just a lame flurry in "too cold to snow" temps. The high temperature yesterday afternoon, 1.8F, was the coldest since January 2004! Then it warmed up to 3.5F but didn't change the ranking. (2004-1-9 was 3.7F.)
1/23/2019 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 7.0 M
1/24/2019 7:00 AM 0.08 T M 6.0 M Light mixed precip began after noon, I forgot to make a note of when. Temperatures were slightly above freezing, but the cold weather a couple day ago left some surfaces below freezing for several hours. We had light rain overnight, continuing past 0700.
1/25/2019 7:00 AM 1.33 0.0 M 3.0 M Storm total 1.45". High temp 52.5F, highest of the month. (Three days before it was 3.5F, coldest high in 15 years.)

1/30/2019 7:00 AM 0.53 5.9 0.49 8.5 M Gauges combined from 74 g at midnight and 35 g at 0700. The evening reading might have a little extra from snow on the post, the snow board might have had a little less from being perched on icy crud. Close enough.
1/31/2019 7:00 AM T T M 7.5 M Cold! However, nothing we haven't seen before. The risk of a snow squall reached flurry status, there was more to our south. The subsequent wind lived up to expectations.
2/1/2019 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 7.0 M Low temp about -5F, a couple degrees warmer than yesterday.

2/9/2019 7:00 AM 0.08 T M 0.5 M Raining at the start of the period, ending before noon, cold front hit at 1400 with very dry air and very strong wind. A trace of snow is visible outside, the event stands out very nicely on the air temp & dew point plot at 0130.
2/10/2019 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.5 M Quiet day today. Yesterday Mount Washington recorded a wind gust of 148 mph, the highest wind in over a decade. Today the wind (gust?) is the common 70 mph.
2/11/2019 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.5 M Tough call between sticking with 0.5" snow cover and a trace. That will have a big impact on length of continuous snow cover for the season. I decided to stick with 0.5". Another decision point tomorrow and then it snows.
