Miserable weather for measuring snow. After the rain changed to snow and covered the ground, we had a long period where the snow was melting as fast as it fell. From KCON data, about 10 miles from here, it reported 0.05" between 1651 and 1751. My temperature data is ambiguous, but that time frame is about the best match. Raining at the start of the period, ending before noon, cold front hit at 1400 with very dry air and very strong wind. A trace of snow is visible outside, the event stands out very nicely on the air temp & dew point plot at 0130. |

Quiet day today. Yesterday Mount Washington recorded a wind gust of 148 mph, the highest wind in over a decade. Today the wind (gust?) is the common 70 mph. |

Tough call between sticking with 0.5" snow cover and a trace. That will have a big impact on length of continuous snow cover for the season. I decided to stick with 0.5". Another decision point tomorrow and then it snows. |
