3/19/2019 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M low =41, clear blue sky. About 2 PM yesterday we transitioned from completely calm to very windy (for here) with east winds. About 12 miles east at the Lewis and Clark Bridge they were measured at gusts of 25-27 and steady wind of 10-12 - I believe it was similar here with branches coming out of trees and lots of tree motion.

Based on climate data website March average is 5.55 and the 30 year average for Clatskanie is 40.65 and at this gauge we have collected only 25.87 water year to date. As mentioned in one of my multi-day accumulation reports, we may have had some loss due to evaporation using just the 4 inch tube to collect snow while we were away (and then it turned sunny and it seems there were could be more loss from the open tube than with the funnel in place.)

10/8/2018 10/11/2018 8:00 AM 4 0.50 M M low in last 3 days = 38. Low this AM was 41. Dense fog overnight and completely clear by 10 AM.
10/18/2018 10/21/2018 8:00 AM 4 0.00 M M Low temp of 39 degrees while we were away. Note there was a trace in the gauge but we doubt it was anything more than dew or fog condensate so haven't recorded it
10/25/2018 10/29/2018 8:00 AM 5 2.65 M M current temp= 45. Low over last several days was 42 and high was 61. Currently mostly cloudy and calm. Of the total rain, 0.25 inches fell during intense showers between 4 PM yesterday and this morning's 8 AM reading.
11/6/2018 11/08/2018 8:00 AM 3 0.20 M M High temp in our absence was 60 degrees. Low this morning 31 and we had our first frost (until this AM the low during our absence was 37).
11/16/2018 12/17/2018 8:00 AM 32 5.35 M M T=44. Low in our absence was 24 and high was 63. No power outages yet this winter. Clearly it has been windy at some time because one hummingbird feeder is missing from its hook on the porch and a dead maple stem (40 or 50 feet long) is down across part of the upper drive. Anna'a hummingbirds are overwintering again and are already visiting the fresh feeder. NWS is has been pretty consistent in its forecast that we are in for between 2 and 3 1/2 inches of rain in the next 48 hours.

1/6/2019 1/11/2019 8:00 AM 6 1.15 M M In our absence low 31 and high 55. Looks like there must have been gusty winds because empty stack of plug trays that were weighted down with rocks and been blown askew.
1/23/2019 1/28/2019 8:00 AM 6 0.62 0.0 M Low temp since Jan. 22 was 31. High in low 50's. This is going to be a very "dry" January. And no hint of snow yet this winter (and verified this impression with neighbor's observation for days we have been away.)
2/6/2019 2/08/2019 8:00 AM 3 0.00 0.0 M Rain gauge was completely empty and dry this AM. Low since last reading was 20 and high 42. Snow (maybe lots of snow) is in the forecast for the next 4-5 days so just the large outside tube is outside waiting to see what happens! Crocus blooming for the last two weeks are going to be pretty surprised if the forecast snow arrives.
2/9/2019 2/15/2019 8:00 AM 7 4.18 0.0 M T=39 an steady rain. overnight low= 37. High and Low since last entry: 44 & 25 No snow remains but neighbors estimate 2-3 inches fell early in the week. Rain must have been very intense at one point because there is a small section of "bank cutting/erosion" along the driveway drainage ditch.
2/16/2019 2/26/2019 8:00 AM 11 1.20 0.0 M overnight low 24; low the preceding 9 days was 26.
3/4/2019 3/17/2019 8:00 AM 14 0.50 0.0 M low in our absence was 19. This afternoon high is 70! According to school closure info etc there was some snow since our last entry. The rain / snow collection was with funnel and inner tube removed. My question: was the total reduced by evaporation because of the wider opening compared to if the funnel and tube had been in place? This appears to be 0.25-0.35 inch less than the nearby stations OR-CB-18 and 0R-CB-31.
3/20/2019 3/24/2019 8:00 AM 5 0.02 M M T=43; low clouds or fog but good visibility
3/28/2019 3/29/2019 8:00 AM 2 0.15 M M low this morning is 35; yesterday low was 32 and high was 63. Fog this morning - earlier was quite dense, now visibility around 1 mile.
4/4/2019 4/08/2019 8:00 AM 5 1.20 M M T=47. In our absence low was 42 and high 60.
4/12/2019 4/13/2019 8:00 AM 2 0.34 M M T=45; low was 44 and high 59 while we were away. It was dry when we returned mid afternoon and no additional rain overnight. However to the west there are very dense dark clouds and the promise of more rain soon. Things have launched into their rapid growing phase. Oregon grape in hedge row is near full bloom. Erythronium oregonum is blooming as is the native ranunculus. First blossoms of scotch broom are about to open. A few of the native coastal strawberries are also blooming. Found a patch of small yellow violets in a cleaning in the woods 2 days ago in addition to the small purple ones in my nursery beds.
4/21/2019 4/28/2019 8:00 AM 8 0.12 M M low in interval was 31°, high 71°; continuing pretty darn dry.
4/29/2019 5/05/2019 8:00 AM 7 0.00 M M Yes, a week has gone by and the gauge is completely dry. Month total for April was 3.89. Current temp is 49; low while we were away was 34 and the high was 74. Definitely time to finish getting the surface drip irrigation repaired and making sure the native plant nursery and the small specimen trees are getting some supplemental water!

7/10/2019 7/11/2019 8:00 AM 2 0.52 M M 0.50 as of 4:30 PM yesterday so just a little more rain fell overnight. Current temp= 61, overcast and calm
7/24/2019 7/28/2019 8:00 AM 5 0.03 M M T=54; high was 88 and low 51 while we were away. Mostly clear this AM (a few high clouds) and a moderate dew overnight. Things in the forest look very dry in the areas away from the plant/tree specimens I have on drip irrigation lines.
8/21/2019 8/23/2019 8:00 AM 3 0.34 M M T= 54. In our absence high was 80 and low was 48. Currently overcast (expected to disappear later).
8/30/2019 9/01/2019 8:00 AM 3 0.09 M M Partly cloudy and 60 degrees at 8 AM. Over the last two days the high was 78 and low 55.
9/30/2019 10/05/2019 8:00 AM 6 0.51 0.0 0.00 T=45 and partly cloudy with no evidence of the forecast fog. In the last few days the low was 32 and the high 70. Based on the "nearby" rainfall readings, best guess is that less than 0.10 of this belongs to "last" water year and the rest belongs to this water year.
