Yesterday was the 3rd warmest day of the year, with a high of 77.0 and a low of 47.7.

Yesterday was the second straight unusually warm day. I've had my weather station just over 5 years and this is the first time I've recorded two straight days over 75. Fifth straight day above 70, after never having records more than three straight days in any month in the 5+ years I've owned a weather station here.

After our warm spell earlier in the week, yesterday felt very cold. We never got out of the clouds, the high was 52.5 and the low was 44.9. In conjunction with the NE winds yesterday afternoon it was quite chilly.

After a brief shower yesterday morning around 7:10 AM, the day was beautiful and sunny until about mid-afternoon. Skies gradually got darker, and we had a small thunderstorm in the late afternoon. Just a few strikes of lightning, and some heave rain for a period. After this cleared, we had a spectacular sunset, enhanced by the rough seas in front of the setting sun. Times below intentionally skipped over yesterday mornings shower from about 7:10 - 7:20 AM. Yesterday's high: 58.6, yesterday's low: 51.2.

Winds started very abruptly last night between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM. Gusts reached at least 35 mph (the highest I have ever measured from this direction!). from 5:50 PM to 6:00 AM, the gusts were continuously between 25 and 35 mph. And for what it's worth, my weather stations is partially protected from the east winds, so its likely they were a little stronger than that. Unfortunately my garbage and recycling cans were blown over during the night, and I still haven't picked up everything. My recycling bin was actually blown down the block! Yesterday was spectacular, with a high of 66.2 and a low of 44.1.

First off, it was the 5th highest temperature I have ever recorded here (5.5 years of data): 89.9. The other unusual aspect was the jumping around of the temperature. It was clear virtually all day. Yet with some slight changes in wind direction, the temperature bounced around. It climbed to 76.5 at 10:20 AM, then fell to 61.1 at 11:00 AM. Then rose steadily to reach 89.5 at 3:50 PM. Fell to 69.1 at 5:40 PM, only to quickly rise to 84.6 at 6:10 PM. Fell back to 69.5 at 6:30 PM, then rising to 74.4 at 7:00 PM. A little more bouncing around overnight, but the swing were not as extreme. Yesterday's low: 48.5.

One curiosity. My rain gauge is not in a terribly ideal location, although it's the best I can do for my property. But this is the first time I can recall that my automated Davis gauge recorded notably more rain than the cocorahs gauge. Davis recorded .12" yesterday, which I believe to be a more accurate representation. It has a much better location.
