Then late night we had a surprize late evening shower with rain and snow mixed after what was a dry day. Since our prevailing weather on McCully Mountain tends to be from the southwest where I had observed the funnel cloud, could there have been a connection to what I had seen on Interstate 5 and our late night rain and snow shower? Did anyone else see the funnel cloud? I think we need a way that we can have a COCORAHS live chat connection.

Sorry it has taken so long to post, but when there is this much snow in the morning it takes awhile to collect the snow samples, measure the catch, feed the goats, throw bird seed around, shovel the snow from the driveway, dig out the gate so son can get out to road and travel to OSU. All these things in the snow brings up the f-word... fun... I love the snow. It has the power to change the day from common work the an adventure with nature and this today is fun, fun, fun, no joke it will be a fun day. Water content varied widely between snowboard, catch, and the ground The snowboard was .22, the catch was .42", the ground was .65" which is perhaps the most accurate.

Then after just before dark there was an intense snow shower that when it began snow fell as granular snow #77 on the US Weather Symbols, then it was time to go get pizza for dinner. The drive off the mountain was similar to a blinding snowstorm I had in 1987 at Yellowstone's Mt. Washburn. With the headlights on high beams, its was like traveling in space watching the stars fly by at warp 9. I could see only 5-10 feet in front of the "Starship Subaru." I had to look left and right in the attempt to stay on the "flightpath" or road. It was a great adventure. I felt like Hans Solo. Ending up with 3 new inches of snow.

The wind started to blow moderately at 24mph at 4pm, it started to snow at about 6:30pm, wind gusts were up to 26mph and blowing snow at 9pm, at 1am the wind reached it's high at 27mph; drifting snow lasting at lease to 1am. The temperature dropped to 22°, At 4am the wind settled down to 14mph. Not sure if the snow was still falling at that time, at 6am it was snowing gently till ob time at 7am. We now have between 15-19 inches of snow on the ground. Not sure on the new snow depth. ......... Something must have seen it's shadow back on the 2nd of February.
