Snow began about 11AM Thursday, continued until about 3:30PM, changed to sleet pellets and eventually rain in late evening. Light fluffy snow began and the amount was variable. At 3:30PM changeover there was 3.5 inches on asphalt drive, 4.5 inches on the roof of a cold car and 5.5 inches in the gauge big tube. During the remaining hours of the event, falling water arrived in the big tube in varying forms. The amount reported is the melted water in the gauge for the entire event. The front arrived about3-3:30 with fierce wind and blowing snow which drifted the drive with ice powder that melted on the warmed asphalt and covered everything with just enough ice to make every walking surface wicked bad! Then it got cold! I put down sand which blew away immediately. no accurate measurements due to wind, but there is snow on the ground in most places unless it was scoured off. |
