This morning had .10 from yesterday morning's "snow event" which ended up a dusting, left as quickly as it came. The amount was frozen so I had to wait until gauge unfrozen, then unfroze the tube so could get accurate measurement of .10. Bright and sunny this morning - temps still in 20s, but sunny. |

As promised by forecasters, severe weather moved through during the night. At 3:20AM, medium/heavy rain began, at 4:45 the cell was on top of us -- lots of thunder and lightning -- brief pings sounded like might have been hail, but by time I got to a window, it was rain. We were under severe thunderstorm alert with radar indicating quarter-size hail just north of us. The storm finally let up at 6:30AM. Light winds at collection time 8AM |

It was a sleepless night after hearing 10PM weather forecasters predict severe storms including possible tornadoes during night. As promised, cell after cell moved through during the night -- at one point, the heavy rain almost sounded like hail. Ended up with 1.23" -- all in just a few hours. Moderate rain at 8AM - collection time. Yard is a sponge. |
